You bring the hoses.

Man... I was already bummed I have to miss it this year (family in town), but now that I hear the internet is going to come to life in one house for a giant lakeside hose party, I'm devastated.

You know what's in California? The entertainment industry. Know who runs the entertainment industry? Oh, you know. Sure you do. It's allllll coming together..... p.s.: My Fokker gets so so mileage, but it still looks brand new! -
Bear in mind that staying in FtL is going to guarantee a long drive to West Miami. FAU and FIU are an hour apart (SoFla is like D/FW in that way). I'd look all the way from the MIA area out towards Doral. You know, if this advice is even necessary. And with that, my South Florida travel quick hit comes to a close.

This is fantastic, wherever it leads.

Yup... and it wasn't the current Big East, either. -
The Richland Thunderducks have something to say about that....

Nope. Odds are good on Thompson or a JUCO.

Live by the 3, die by the 3, on both sides..... until Tristan started absolutely giving up his body taking it to the rim. Good things happened just about every time he did that, which was a lot from the 9m mark on. A big chunk of the UTA run went on with Josh on the bench. Not all of it, but a considerable part. Josh comes back in, and the whole feel of the thing changes. That, and I stared at McCarney a lot.

Uf's Dan Mccarney Reportedly Going To North Texas
CaribbeanGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree it's PROBABLY not a big deal, or even a little one... it just strikes me as a little odd that Neinas himself considers discretion "and avoiding these sort of embarrassments" as one of the primary reasons schools should hire him. In the ESPN report, they specifically cited Michigan's embarrassment (being publicly waffled on and turned down) as exactly what Neinas aims to prevent. It just surprises me greatly that McCarney, seemingly as much of a "Neinas guy" as there is, has now had at LEAST 36-48 hours of public waffling - defined by anything less than 100% certainty he's taking the job. The only alternative i see is that it's never been "done" and there's a leak somewhere in the system, which is another thing Neinas aims to prevent. Very, very strange, even if McCarney does what we all expect him to do and accepts the gig. -

Looks like McCarney was also at least mentioned as a candidate at USF, during another Neinas-led search. Lots of tie-ins here.... replacing Leavitt, Canales being there, Neinas, McCarney, etc... http://www.tampabay.com/sports/college/usf-bulls-hire-top-headhunter-in-search-for-new-football-coach/1064391

There has never, ever, ever in the history of ever been a better fit than Mike Leach at Miami FL. -
Doubt he stays til after some crappy (for Florida) bowl game. I would hope not, after watching the Gators get steamrolled 31-7 by an average Florida State team tonight.

While trying to put a positive spin on the merits of Dan McCarney the head coach, we've heard how he turned around ISU, how he won at the unwinnable. We've heard how TERRIBLE the Cyclones were before he got there, and how his dismal overall record is actually a positive given the circumstances. I decided to look at the numbers, comparing McCarney's 12 years at ISU with the 12 "lost" years before he got there... ....in the 12 seasons McCarney was at ISU, his teams won 4 or more games SEVEN times. ....in the 12 seasons prior to McCarney being at ISU, the Cyclones won 4 or more games.... SEVEN times. While McCarney did have a couple of "breakthrough" 7 win seasons, his teams averaged, as a whole, LESS than one more win a season than ISU averaged in the previous 12 seasons. McCarney's "disastrous" predecessor, Jim Walden, had only ONE winning season in conference play... McCarney? also ONE winning season in conference - in FOUR MORE YEARS than Walden had. Walden won fewer than 3 games once. McCarney won fewer than 3 games 3 times. Current ISU coach Paul Rhoads matched McCarney's highest win total at ISU in his first season. It took McCarney into his FOURTH season to win as many games.... TOTAL. ... he may be a great assistant. As a head coach? He made minimal strides if any. His career is laced with failure in any context. ISU was roughly as good before he was there and since he's left.... and this all still wouldn't be the end of the world if not for the fact that DENNIS FREAKING FRANCHIONE (187-101) and JIM EFFING LEAVITT (95-57) were both openly interested.. in NORTH TEXAS... and we went with Dan McCarney (56-85)... without even a shaky moral ground or financial excuse to stand on. I hope we're wrong. I hope that Lucy pulls the football out from under Mac at the last minute. If not, then... we had better be right.

Great post, but never do this again.

Don't forget that Colorado blew a decent Iowa St. team out this weekend, one week after firing Hawkins. This happens when you end a really bad situation - at every level. Sure, you CONSIDER what Canales has done here this season. But it's a small part of the large puzzle the powers that be have to put together.

Unt Cracks Top 25 in next few years?
CaribbeanGreen replied to football fan's topic in Mean Green Football
Not tap dancing, but my only hesitation is not knowing just how poor an in game coach Dodge really was... Likewise, not knowing how badly the team had tuned him out. Regardless of what you think of Canales, this turn around has been nothing short of staggering when you consider the last several years (or just the first half of this season!). What the higher ups have to decide is how much of that is because we've gone from miserably led to adequately led, or if Canales is REALLY that good. I could take over an Olympic weightlifting competition from an infant and look pretty good. I still wouldn't be the right guy to represent our country in weightlifting. Point isn't to trash Dodge - point is, some important people are going to have to dig deep and determine just how far gone this thing was under Dodge in order to accurately evaluate Canales' performance. WHY is it so much better with the same players and coaches? Is it removing Dodge or adding Canales... or, most likely, what percentage of both? Would appointing DeLoach or Peterson interim HC have yielded significantly different results? We have to answer these questions as best we can. I love what Chico has done as much as anyone. If someone had told me we'd do this a month ago, I'd have thought they were certifiable. But this is a huge hire, and we may well be picking him over established names like Jim Leavitt, etc... tough, tough call.
