  1. Ah... so SDSU was ranked after the Long Beach State win for 1 week before losing to us. I didn't realize the "conference eventually known as the Big West" was even D1 at the time. We've probably had a few more impressive wins since then, wouldn't you say? Arbitrary rankings aren't always the end all be all. Even with our rather limited history, you never hear alums talking about the "San Diego State Win"... Tennessee? Sure. Texas Tech? Sure. Even Baylor, Boise, and Nevada (not not mention the Texas loss). I just don't want to get too hung up on "rankings". Also, while we're at it... what's the story with the last game of the 1977 season? We beat an undefeated Louisiana Tech team in our final game. Seems pretty cool, but I've literally NEVER heard it talked about.
  2. What ranked team did we beat in 1974? We had two wins that year, the most impressive over the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference's San Diego State Aztecs. If you mistyped, and are referring to the oh-so-referenced Tennessee game in 1975, The Volunteers had a disappointing 5 loss season with no bowl bid, at at the time NT defeated them, they had already dropped 2 of the previous 4 games and were not ranked in the AP poll (they would finish the season unranked as well). And assuming you were referring to the Tennessee game per usual, the 1975 NT team did not win a single other game over a team with a winning record that entire season - other wins came against the likes of Drake, WTAMU, Cal Poly-Pomona, and UTA (all which had losing records, even at their low level of competition). To hold that team and that win up as the gold standard of NT football is fallacy, especially in light of accomplishments made since the mid-70's. I hope we get "back" to far more than that.
  3. Wait.... Drew Henson?
  4. Yes, I do, and yes, I put the green stone in the middle of the star. I love it. I wear it on "dress-up" occasions. Dig it... it's quintessentially NT.
  5. Okay... I do have to question the logic of dumping McNulty cold - AT Alabama - in the 4th quarter on the 2 yard line. A fumble, a penalty, and two TERRIBLE throws later..... why flip flop so much? Osborn got us down there, right?
  6. First play, from the Alabama 2... fumbled snap. Oops. (strange place to introduce him, but maybe that's his role this year.) His second snap - illegal formation. Let's hope the third is a TD.
  7. Also, as far as FSSW+ on TWC 960 - Right now it's showing Arky State/VaTech... not HD, low-budget broadcast, but better than ESPN3.
  8. It's not ESPN+... it's FSSW+. Try channel 960 on TWC. It was FSSW+ earlier today for GT/Kansas, anyway...
  9. ULM beat a 6 loss Bama team. I'm afraid this ain't a 6 loss Bama team.
  10. Nothing against Keenum - he's a very good college QB - but give me Moore 10 times out of 10. He's done it year after year against the likes of VaTech, TCU, Georgia, etc... and usually on the road and on the biggest of stages.
  11. Please do. It may be the most joy I find today.
  12. I'm not what you'd call a "fancy man". It's me, a bottle of Jack, a 12 of Lone Star, and a disapproving wife. Can't beat it.... or probably Alabama.
  13. This is fascinating. FSSW+ lists as channel 960 on TWC, but when I go to it on the menu, it's literally the only channel with NO call letters, NO description, nothing. It's like a blank channel with nothing but "To Be Announced" scheduled into eternity. That said, I'm getting Kansas/Georgia Tech right now, so I'm guessing I have it. Mysterious devils, you...
  14. The good news is that Time Warner only wants $140 bucks for me to buy the game on PPV, so that's nice. Laptop it is.
  15. Report this morning is that the Big East may try to "reload" with Baylor and Iowa State - both of whom reportedly initiated contact with the BE. We'll see what there is to this one.
  16. It can happen in the Belt, too. See Cristobal, Mario. I can't imagine the winless mess Don Strock had been rolling out had much more than Dodge left here. I hope for/expect the same sort of turnaround that Cristobal has led FIU to... inheriting an absolute MESS - a winless Strock team - Cristobal had this sort of "purge" year in 2007 with just 1 win (over Todd Dodge), and then had seasons of 5, 3, and 7 wins. Huge numbers? No. But a respectable and frankly, amazing turnaround of a program with a brief history of only horrible failure (and far less to recruit to than we have). McCarney's turnaround took 5-6 years at ISU, but I'd expect it to be faster here. It has to be.
  17. This is a bit, right? You must be CtrlAltDel, otherwise this would make no sense.
  18. ...more like what, 8 years or so?. I'm too lazy to look it up, but I seem to recall one of Dickey's teams smacking them around at Fouts back in the early aughts or so...
  19. The concession stand we hit... a Sonic station... did take cards. Maybe it's hit or miss?
  20. Talking animatedly to the dude next to me (who I'd never met before) about the game while my wife dismissively texts. Yep, it's just about perfect.
  21. Hell, if you can drag that out of Bryant-Denny, more power to ya. There are worse things.
  22. Health and a nice fat check.
  23. Agree 100%. I really think this offense gets on track in conference (non-FIU) play.
  24. Totally agree. do NOT want to alternate drives. Maybe one pre-determined drive per half, a wildcat situation, whatever... but more than that, just change the depth chart.
