  1. Thor, you planned poorly, buddy. Plenty of liquid patience over here...
  2. Huh? Is this message board Inception? You tell me. Don't argue with yourself. "Last season alone Benford had 16 wins. It took Trilli 3 years to get there. Benford is a lot better than Trilli. Jankovich never had a 16 win season and Jimmy Gales only had two 16 win seasons in 7 seasons. Tommy Newman had 21 wins in 3 seasons. Benford has also done better. If you look back at our history there is nothing to suggest Benford is a bad hire. Only if you compare him to Jones does he look like a poor hire. If he stays for 5 or 6 years he could easily be the second best coach in UNT history."
  3. Ahhh, the Super Pit Special. Don't know where I'd be without her.
  4. Except for the essentially unanimously held understanding that Benford inherited one of if not THE most talented team in NT history and regressed considerably (losing 20 games), while other coaches you mentioned replaced a fired coach and a losing team. Never mind the fact that the other coaches you mentioned played on average 4-7 games fewer than Benford in those seasons (even WITH the occasional win in a post season tournament, which Benford has yet to achieve even once) - that's not even important even given your not so important "16 win" milestone. It's about far far more than an arbitrary win total. There's EVERYTHING to suggest he was a bad hire, and I think even you know that.
  5. Is it seriously gonna "snow" on the bottom 1/3rd of the screen all night?
  6. As the all knowing, all seeing poet laureate Dirk Werner Nowitzki once said, "Shut it down. Let's go home."
  7. If "My Tongan Neighbor" isn't a sitcom by the fall, heads should roll.
  8. Huge 3 by Jordan. Loving this right now. I'll say this, MG playing HARD.
  9. Wasn't the world supposed to end a while back? Whatever happened to that?
  10. And just think, this guy could have been our quarterback....
  11. Also, speaking of the area around the depot, even though Manny's was cooler when it was in the old house a little east down Main (now Stan's), the Wednesday night buffet is still churning at the new Manny's and is still the cheapest gut bomb around. It's the only drug I need.
  12. Ahhhhh yes. That place is delicious, btw. They just have such limited hours. I need to stay on top of when they're open. But yeah, to your point, that's definitely where you're able to pick up a day laborer or ten.
  13. That's fair. I get it. I get reputations and all that. Honestly, a lot of it is probably cyclical for me as well. After a few years, I tend to crave some place slightly different from where I am now. I guess for me I've been lucky in that the kinds of people Ive met don't often fit into the box one might expect based on location. In Frisco, I had friends who were young couples, young parents, and single apartment dwellers working for tech companies whose ideologies and politics were all over the board. Frisco was essentially the vessel where we slept at night, ran our errands, and met for drinks and dinner. And it served me well in that regard. Likewise, when I lived in Wilton Manors (the gay neighborhood in Ft. Lauderdale), our neighbors were these uber conservative Cuban refugees who were incredibly friendly and could cook like a SOB. Everyone seemed to get along, and I enjoyed living there just fine. I think with Frisco it may have helped that I didn't have kids, so I never got swept up in that kiddie culture and hung out with like minded types. I completely understand the stereotypes, it just didn't fit my experience is all. I completely get how it could someone else's, especially if there's preconcieved notions to deal with coming in (not saying that's you at all, btw.. Just that I've known it to happen). Hell, denizens of this board are living proof that Denton is far from a liberal commune running on canola oil, ya dig?
  14. Meh. I loved living in Frisco. Safe, everything's convenient, clean, new, easy to get around, lots to do (especially sports wise), close to the tollway, 121, and 380, new stuff popping up all the time. I dug it. To each their own, I know, but the intangible stuff like "soulless" and "charm" eventually became hollow feel good buzzwords with no real definition or impact on my life. I like charm, and when I want it I'm a quick drive down 380 from Denton or down the tollway to Dallas. Day to day, I like nice roads, ample parking, modern conveniences, and big growth/progress. Maybe I'm dead inside, that's entirely possible too..... I won't ever discount that. I love Denton. Get back whenever I can. Just had to give the northern burbs a little love in their defense. (I have a giant pro-Plano bit queued up if you bastards make me)
  15. Georgia would be a lock over "whoever else"..... as for every other game on that list? Tossup at best, at least in my opinion. I'm probably picking the home team in each matchup.
  16. I feel like we're at the beginnings of hashing out a reinvention of the Andrew character, and I think I kinda like it.....
  17. Take away a gorgeous 51 yard TD to a wide open Harris, and McNulty is 10-25 for 109 with a pick six and -25 yards rushing with 8 straight incompletions. Have to wonder if either A- he's hurt, or B- this is who he is.
  18. QB play has fallen off the cliff in the 3rd thus far. Taking waaaaayyy too many sacks (without really overwhelming pressure), a terrible pick 6, another INT dropped by a dude with a giant cast, and missing open WRs. Let's hope McNulty can find it again quick.
  19. QB1 and 2 both strong so far. WRs running wide open and McNulty is hitting them, and DW looked electric in his very brief fill in. Kept the drive going. Solid play under center thus far.
  20. Damn. Pegram kind of just tripped on that 3rd and short. Huge moment here.
  21. I'm just shocked that a redshirt freshman made some mistakes with ball security in a road game. Unheard of. Better tear the dude apart!
  22. I don't disagree with a lot of what you say, but did you just say Big XII football is defense 1st?
  23. He's been fine. Better than I expected, which is admittedly a low bar. Again, though.... USM is and has been TERRIBLE. Perspective... not just for McNulty, but the whole team.
