Tech could put Dr. Pohl at QB and he'd throw for 350/pg. Kingsbury, Symons, Cumbie, blah blah blah... system, system, system.
-
played for Coach J.B. Wallace when he was an asst. (DE/LB) at Lake Highlands in the mid-90's before he got the SOC job... charismatic players' coach, a good guy...

..at least your game still works. Mine froze after saving last night. Didn't think much of it, and today - nothing. The PS2 logo comes up, then, darkness, and the system just makes all sorts of sounds over and over again. Other games work fine, so who knows. No scratches, cleaned everything again, nada. Oh well.. fun while it lasted..
-
agreed.... last year was just about perfect.
-
oh, and I'll second the fact that for some reason, FIU is the biggest challenge in the belt. They've been unbeaten (outside of NT) in both seasons I've seen. I had to come back in the 4th to beat them in my 1st season.

Second year in dynasty (turned down offers from Auburn and Cal after year 1, signed the 5-year extension to stay in Denton - of course), and I opened with a 35-24 win @ Texas. Signed a 6'5" scrambling 4-star QB, and I have him in on running formations and Byerly on pro-sets and shotgun... this guy & J-Mo on the option is ridiculous.... Having a running QB is a real treat in this game... just take the snap (preferably in the shotgun), and just sprint to the side... you have a wide open scan of the field, and the ability to just take off.... ... in that vein, if you're ever playing w/ friends or just want to have some fun and branch out, play a game w/ TAMU. McNeal is RIDICULOUS.

Okay... another thing a like better about 06: When you head into the new season, you do NOT retain the same ranking you ended the previous year with. In my first season, I finished with 1 loss (LSU) and a NO Bowl win over Nevada, 45-20. Ended up ranked #21 - but when the new year started, Athlon projects me at #43. I like that more than the default carryover in previous years.
-
Agree about the passes in the flat - that's a huge improvement. Still seems like the DBs play that wacky tip drill all the time, volleyballing an easy INT between 3 of them before letting it fall harmessly to the turf... ... love the game, but agree, changes are pretty minimal.

what level are you on, greeneagle?? has anyone ever had just an insane shootout, with 100+ total points?
-
Yeah, I'm on All-American... going to stay here a couple seasons before entertaining Heisman... bounced back from the loss at LSU with the blowout of MTSU, beat Tulsa 48-30, beat Troy 41-31, and somehow walloped K-State 50-0. Go figure. Cobbs is still all-world. J-Mo is strong, averaging probably just at 100/pg, but Cobbs is insane right now. Other than K-St., he's led me in rushing each game. How many of your "targets" do you usually ink after recruiting through the season? Another thing I've noticed is how much for open punt returns are than on '05. JQuinn has taken back 4 already this season, including 2 vs. Tulsa.
-
Well, it's funny, because after the LSU loss, the game felt a lot more like '05 -- I beat MTSU 70-28. It was 42-0 at half, and then we traded scores in the 2nd... Thomas goes for 169, Cobbs for 202. Byerly threw for 315. Insane offensive game, I wasn't stopped. In the 2nd half, I couldn't stop them either, but the 1st half was such a mudhole-stomp, it didn't matter much... quite a saga developing..
-
This one is wild.. much tougher than 05... only played the opener against LSU, which I lost 35-17. Cobbs ran for 175 and Thomas for 119, but Byerly threw for 60, and combine that with 2 Thomas fumbles, 1 Quinn fumble, and 2 Byerly INTs, and it was curtains. Plus, I could NOT stop the Tigers' RB. He went for about 200. Pass defense was better, as I managed 3 sacks and a pick (gave up about 120 yds), but they DID hit a 60 yd TD on the last play of the 1st half - THAT was very annoying. I know it's only one game - but some observations -- the previous poster was right about JT - where's the speed? He was able to get to the corners a few times, but there was no breakaway speed in the open field. He got flagged from behind more than a couple of times. PC, on the other hand, popped off an 80-yarder in the 3rd and seemed to have a little more burst. Go figure.

what's with FIU? Could you get invited to other conferences in 2005?? Can't recall..

What makes you think that LTU is a "real" D-1 team anywhere NEAR the caliber of the others you've mentioned?? And why do we think USM is better than LTU?? Ummm, records, stats, rankings, bowl history, conference, facilities, location, talent, recruiting... need more? -

GSU is North Texas in 10 years ?
CaribbeanGreen replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Great summary, baby arm.... Texas shares some characteristics with the South, but it's one state that is uniquely it's own thing. I love Baby Arm's description... that's one of the best I've heard. -
I honestly think we'd win by 30. Just a matter of athletes, etc.

I'll also cast a vote for the immortal Big Dick Bridges.

I vote for Jason Attaway.

I just like the "Lady Green" .... ... or keep it "Mean Green" for both...

From 87-88 to Trilli's firing, or more?
CaribbeanGreen replied to Gakusei's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Does anyone remember the last game of that year of Trilli's big freshman class (Tennell, Erskin, Davis, etc.)? We put it to Nevada something like 125-80-- the freshmen were flying everywhere with highlight reel dunks, raining threes, etc... it seemed like something special was really coming together... and then poof.. it was gone. -

TheColonyEagle-- BEST... POST... EVER. Says it all perfectly, IMHO. -
Yeah, that's great for the Rams... who, if i'm not mistaken, are being coached by Jim Ledford, who was the offensive coordinator at Lake Highlands when we were winning in the late 90's.... he left for a head coaching job in Madisonville, and was replaced as OC by Harry Everett, who is now the head coach at Richardson.. Coach Led was a great coach and a great guy... best of luck to the Rams! Seems like we played Carter every year in rd. 1 when I was there, and we always had a lot of success, so hopefully he still has the touch!

Wow! This brings back memories!! ,..another LH Wildcat here, class of '97. Yeah, the three years we were there, we didn't lose a single home game, lost 2 reg. season games total, and made it to the state semifinals back to back years... then the couple of classes after us extended the playoff run to 11 straight years, but after that...... ugh. ... know what did it?? Those of you who were there remember that we had silver helmets back then... the YEAR they went to the juniorhigh looking red, it all went downhill...
