  1. Love SLC, but give me talent. Especially as we go higher level by level. As a whole, the biggest, fastest guns win nine out of ten. At least.
  2. I still can't even log in. It keeps taking me to the password recovery screen no matter what I do..
  3. This just happened. This makes me very, very happy. Give credit where credit is due. Good play calling, Woody establishes himself, and a royal ass kicking by the defense. Enjoy it!
  4. Troy takes the lead 17-10 in Tallahassee..... .... this would work wonders for the Belt. Not to mention Ark St. hanging tough with OK State, NT hanging on against SMU, FIU has a 2-score lead on South Florida from the Big East, La-Mo. is within a TD of Kansas, and MTSU is at least at a respectable 14 down against Maryland... at the moment, only FAU and La-La are laying eggs. What a day! C'mon Trojans!
  5. nm. edited because duplicate post at same time - sorry!

  6. Going for two was nothing but idiocy in that situation.
  7. All in all, even at 35-7, I really, really feel good about this year. Lots of positives.
  8. Is it a knee jerk to be completely baffled by re-inserting Phillips immediately after WW led NT on perhaps the most impressive drive in a couple of years? Wha...?
  9. Problem is, the Steelers 3rd down back is Verron Haynes.
  10. Wow... that must have been a helluva difficult year. Glad he managed to overcome that...
  11. Yeah, ummm.. except that engineering department, Med School, and Law School. Other than that, sure..
  12. I think it was probably the loss of all-world Michael Robinson, no experience at QB, a shaky line, and the several previous lousy years. I'd say they're probably right.... TAMU has some votes strictly off name and the worst non-conference schedule in the country. Tech is probably a little low, too, after spending some of last year in the top 10.
  13. Agreed. Cobbs will be on SOMEBODY'S roster or ps this season, but probably not in NE. Think of that as one helluva audition.
  14. Obvious reasons being that it was almost 20 years ago and is now utterly irrelevant. I'll echo previous posters - it sucked, it happens, we need to move on. Same gows for the SMU/SWC thing. Aren't we posted out on these issues?
  15. But by that logic, Dan Marino never carried the Dolphins because they never won the big one. It just doesn't make sense. Are you saying Jamaal Charles is already better than Cedric Benson because his Texas team WON the big one? That's just inarguable. Benson was a great collegiate player. His contribution is in no way the reason Texas didn't win a title in his time there - they were still perennially one of the top programs in the nation. You take every great RB to win a title in college, and I'll take every one who didn't, and it's not even close.
  16. and, done... Paper: Landis Had Synthetic Testosterone By Associated Press 45 minutes ago NEW YORK - Tests show that some of the testosterone in Floyd Landis' system at the Tour de France was synthetic and not naturally produced by his body as he claimed, according to a newspaper report. The French antidoping lab testing the American cyclist's samples determined that some of the hormone came from an external source, The New York Times reported on its Web site Monday night, citing a person at the International Cycling Union with knowledge of the result. The finding undermines the defense that Landis has stood behind since he tested positive for an elevated ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone following the 17th stage of the Tour de France, where he staged a stirring comeback in the Alps to make up for a poor performance the day before. Looking and sounding defiant, Landis said Friday that his body's natural metabolism _ not doping of any kind _ caused the result, and that he would undergo tests to prove it. "We will explain to the world why this is not a doping case but a natural occurrence," Landis said at a news conference in Madrid, Spain. But after determining that Landis's ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone was more than twice the limit of 4:1, the lab performed a carbon isotope ratio test on the first of Landis's two urine samples, the person told the Times. That test determines whether the testosterone it is natural or synthetic. Landis officially requested the testing of his backup urine sample Monday for an elevated testosterone ratio. If the "B" test is negative, Landis would be cleared. If it's positive, which Landis' lawyers say they expect, he could be stripped of his Tour victory and banned for two years. The Times reported that Landis was in New York on Monday night and could not be reached for comment.
  17. I know there are several INDIVIDUALS that fit the "artistic" mold who are avid supporters -- I was referring to the whole, as I believe others here are as well. Likewise with Cal... sure, fair example... but a rarity in a world of big college athletics and nowhere near the biggest of the big - surely we can agree on the general demographics of this while not focusing one one or two specifics.
  18. Look, i'm not remotely political, and I would shed a tear or two for the drastic changing that seems imminent for Fry St., but generally speaking, a "more conservative student" in the way I believe it was presented here, supports athletics and school pride 5000x more than those students who give Denton it's "character".... ... I have as many memories as the next guy, but i want to see NT advance, not spin its wheels. If I go back to Denton in 10 years and it looks the same as it does today, we have a major, major problem. That doesn't mean I'm blindly supporting development, either. I want to see something that integrates the city's history and collegiate atmosphere, of course -- but in a day and age when many see "conservative" as a dirty word, I wish we had 5,000 more "conservative" students. Check out the booster clubs and stadiums and avid financial supporters of very successful major universities, and I'll show you 95% or higher "conservative" students -- again I don't think this is simply a political term in this case. I see what he was getting at -- i think. The hippie is great background noise and NT folklore, but he's really not helping a damn thing. "Atmosphere" is far less important to me that kicking apathy out of Denton and seeing a group of energized, dedicated-for-life go getters fill the campus. If Starbucks gets them there (again, not being literal), then hell, put a Starbucks on every street in town.
  19. okay, so to be clear, what all is specifically being torn down here?? My Denton geography is rusty after a few years, and I can't recall all the places at that specific block..
  20. Oh, and as for the money, don't blame the players for taking what they can get. Blame the owners for paying it. It's the nature of the industry. I, personally, don't have a problem with it -- hardcore capitalism, baby -- but let's see those Korean players turn down money when they get offered those fat MLB contracts. You serious??
  21. Look at some of these rosters.... compare team USA to the D.R. roster head to head, and tell me who has more talent? The talent gap in baseball is not what it is in the other US-centric sports. Baseball is an international game, especially in the Caribbean and Far East. Upsets happen. Other countries are allowed to have "miracles" too -- and as was said, baseball is unique because anybody can beat anybody in one game - that's why the season is 162 and they play 7 game series.... that being said, I strongly believe that even if the WBC had somehow gone to that format, the D.R., Cuba, P.R., Japan, and Korea would have as much of a chance as team USA. Hardly lazy and uncaring... they just got beat. If you want to be upset at someone, be upset at the MLB players who begged out. You think team USA could have used Barry Bonds or Randy Johnson??? You thing the Dominicans would have liked to have a couple innings of Pedro yesterday against the Cubans?
  22. Yep. That's pretty much that.
  23. It's essentially a feelgood contract - no one expects Weis to stay till 2015, and there have been NFL rumors swirling as of late. There's a percentage of the money that's guaranteed, but it's essentially a good faith measure and a heavy buyout...
  24. I hate to loose too.
