  1. I thought he did ok, but your point is well taken. If the pocket is collapsing or throwing lanes aren't there then the play is already going poorly. Put me in the camp that the height is of little concern.
  2. A little late to this thread and it seems of course now but my .02. When Fine got the ball out quickly he looked good. But agree with @BillySee58 & @Mean_Green09 that when the pocket collapsed, he had to try and get out of there, as he couldn't see where to go. The height is an issue in those situations. But I don't think it's that big a deal. The rest of his game seems solid for such a young player and I'm excited to watch him for 4 years. ALL QB's have limitations in their game. Heck SMU's QB is a terrible passer and he just single-handedly beat us.
  3. Little late to seeing this, but this hire does more to get me excited again than Littrell or Baker. Not because I think those guys won't be good, but because this shows that things are very different now. We finally are trying. Maybe we can all be rewarded for caring so much.
  4. I thought Keenan came the year before and had to sit out (Texas Tech)?
  5. Sorry I don't see this so much as a completely new team. Sure some newcomers will get some time, but if I'm looking at it right I see 1 Littrell starter on O (Morris) and 1 on D (Wheeler).
  6. Quality work sir!
  7. I'm with @MEANGREENCOACH2 & @Mean_Green09 and I watched about 2 hours of Saturday. At this point Fine looks like the best best to play if we need a 2nd string guy. And both of the top 2 look better than anything we had last year. Hopefully we only play FIne to get him some experience not out of need.
  8. The fact that we aren't applying is embarrassing. If you don't think you're good enough to deserve more, why should anyone else? We are a better choice than most of the schools on that list. What the whole thing values most is money. And money takes fans. We have the potential for a lot of them. More than pretty much everyone on the list except a few. This is what we should be selling. Plus, you tack on the bandwagon fans we'd get for being so close to Dallas if we were ranked (see SMU basketball) and it's a good fit. I hope The Wren and Smatresk want this for UNT. And more importantly start expecting it.
  9. Really good point @Harry. You have to ask for what you want. You have to pursue it. You also have to tell people why you are great and deserve it. If you keep saying it over and over more people will begin to believe just because they keep hearing it. The truth is, UNT would be great in the Big 12. All of the grads that don't support now would start too. We have a lot of alumni and they would support it. We'd be a better choice than many that are already in the conference. Problem is, the people in charge don't think we deserve it, like that is even relevant.
  10. This and we got to the NCAA tourney in '88 for the 1st time as well.
  11. According to Vito, 3pm.
  12. Geez, can't believe I made it to the end of this thread. Arguing about something and you aren't even understanding the other side. Many are arguing they like the SMU/Army series because it's easy to get too and we can win, and winning is what we need. WHile others (mainly one person) are arguing that this is small time thinking and you don't have faith in the program if you don't thin we can beat a P5. Only a P5 win will make a dent in the perception. The thing is, both sides are right. We need wins and decent OOC games like Army and SMU, that are also easy (SMU) or fun (Army) to go to. We also need to beat a big name at some point to start getting attention. Both things need to happen.
  13. It's hosted by the Denton Ryan band so that's probably why.
  14. I get it, it's easy to take cheap shots at us because we've been terrible. But man this reply on twitter from English shows a maturity that many could learn from. Hope he gets eligible this year.
  15. We need someone who thinks like this to be our next AD.
  16. You're going to believe some text on top of a picture from Fouts field? Seriously though, the UNT alumni association says they have 216k+ total alumni, and I've heard from the Director's mouth the number 140K in DFW.
  17. Ridiculous comment by Benford. Of course he also told us Keith Coleman was a Big East level player so ...
  18. According to the Alumni Association the number is 140K.
  19. Sorry I don't agree that hiring from within is definitely wrong. It's quite possible, especially in the dysfunctional leadership we've had, that there was someone who would be a great leader if given the chance is there. If Hank is given the job, I'll judge by the results. However, if as Dunham says in this article, that the AD needs to build relationships and that is why Hank is right for the job, I strongly disagree and would say he is not the man for the job. The AD is the CEO of the business. Their job is not to establish relationships, that's a sales job. Their job is to establish the vision for the business, and the culture of how you achieve that vision and treat your customers. This is what was severely lacking in the past. So based on Dunham's quotes, if someone who builds relationships is the person who gets the job as AD, we are in big trouble.
  20. Agree. As @meanrob said in another thread, most of this thing can be fixed pretty easily by having good leadership. But, you have to start treating this like a marketing thing. ROI may not be shown for awhile. It might take some years of big revenue losses. But you have to show the stakeholders that you are serious about being successful. And this means investing. Give us a plan and ask us for help. Then invest in it.
  21. Nailed it. Never say Why not North Texas again. Say Here's why North Texas, and how we are going to do it.
  22. Solid post. Did you put you name in for the new assistant position that opened up?
