  1. If Seth gets an extension, will Phil Bennett stay? I believe he is on the last year of a two-year contract. Big part of the improvement of the defense. Is there someone in the wings to replace him if he retires?
  2. I too started parking in the handicapped spots in the blue lot for years after giving up my club level seats and prime handicapped spot in the white lot due to missing so many games due to health issues. Was able to ride the shuttle with the wheelchair lift to the gate by the staduim store. There were times is was hard to find a handicapped spot close to the shuttle waiting area in the blue lot, but that was during the Mason Fine era when attendance was better. Not sure how it has been the last couple of years, but that was the only way I was able to attend the games so I valued having the handicapped spots available in the blue lot. I don't believe they had wheelchair lifts on the shuttle buses coming from the orange lot back then, but I may be mistaken. I remember forgetting my white lot parking pass for one game and having to park in the orange lot and just remember it being more difficult to manuever and that was before I was wheelchair bound.
  3. Really enjoyed the podcast. It was very enlightening to listen to Coach Mac talk about his philosopy and approach to the game. His knowledge is extensive and very analytical; yet his honest feelings for his players' welfare shows as well. I would love for my son to play for someone like him...very passionate about getting the best out of his players in all aspects of life...demanding, but caring. I hope we can keep him for a long, long time because I see nothing but good things for UNT basketball with him at the helm and Coach Hodge by his side. He is the first to admit his assistant coaches are a big part of the team's success. GMG...go Coach Mac!
  4. Amen! I have mentioned this in the past. It is a pet peave of mine to not be able to hear the questions and just seems very bush league.
  5. So Women's Basketball is not considered Mean Green Basketball? I like and support both teams and consider them both as Mean Green basketball teams.
  6. Why was this moved from the Basketball Forum? Well done and basketball related and needs more visibility, IMO
  7. The NIT is the opportunity at hand and we need to take advantage of it and the fans have to do their part...support the team, attend any games possible, and help move the program in a positive direction. We are all disappoinrws about missing the NCAA tourney, but life has its bumps in the road and we have to persevere! It takes the team and the fans to have a great program...GMG
  8. Yes, they are the ones who put in all the work and effort and played the game. Just hope they can bounce back and make winning the NIT their new goal...I think they will because they are competitors! They have control of the situation which, unfortunately, fans don't. GMG
  9. Any chance of the women going to the WNIT?
  10. Hate that the conference basketball games for men and women are often scheduled at the same time with one at home and the other away. Does anyone know if the AAC schedules the same way? I personally liked the doubleheaders although I think the women were at a disadvantage always playing the early games.
  11. Things I would like to see during tomorrow's game against UTEP: 1. Better free throw shooting 2. A healthy Thomas Bell (ankle) 3. Tyler Perry's shooting getting back on track 4.. Less fouls from Abdu Winning with improvements in these areas would putting us in good shape going into the tournament. GMG
  12. Yes, I have been having nightmares that UTSA will do to us in basketball what we did to them in football. The saving grace is that I think Coach Mac will have them mentally prepared to not let this happen and that our guys are too disciplined to let it happen. GMG
  13. Then let's do it! GMG
  14. Thanks for the pictures, Plummer. I have been an Mean Green Fan for over 55 years. Health and mobility issues the last few years have kept me from attending, although I still have season tickets...always hope for a better future! It was great to see so many familiar faces...sure do miss ya'll. Fond memories of the Hots Springs conference tournaments, NCAA tournament game in Oklahoma City, and the Blakley and JJ teams that were so fun to watch. To you "less mature" fans, enjoy these current wonderful teams. We are blessed to have Coach Mac leading our Mean Green and have players full of grit and a winning attitude. Can't physically make it to the games, but thank goodness for the internet (may have to give in and get ESPN+) and cable TV (I can get Stadium and ESPN3 and that helps). Haven't moved on to streaming yet, but a few more games like the last few and I may have to finally transition to the modern way of watching games! GMG
  15. Jeff Maren is a good coach and has been successful, posting a 105-63 record in his first 7 years at Liberty.
  16. On Channel 8's video sports coverage at 6:00 news, Mike Leslie said people may not know it but UNT might be the best team in North Texas....GMG
  17. UNT Basketball's winning streak has finally sparked the local tv stations' covering the Mean Green. Saw a video clip of UNT-FAU on Channel 8 during tonight's sportscast and saw one last week (I believe it was Channel 11). Winning does wonders....GMG
  18. Did the makeup match with TCU show us anything?
  19. Young team for UNT this year. It will be interesting to see how they do, as well as how they competete in the AAC. All the Sun Belt championships didn't translate to CUSA championships. Coaching a team of international players must be a real challenge for any coach, with a lot more variables than just having American players, but that is the landscapre of collegiate tennis. I enjoyed the interview and could "hear" the passion Coach Lama has for the game! Here's hoping Coach Lama and the team is successful this spring. GMG
  20. So refreshing to be able to hear the questions asked in the press conference. If UNT is going to continue to post thier press conferences, the AD really does need to improve the quality of the sound for the questions asked so they can be heard. Obviously it can be done.
  21. Not sure I want UTSA to win a CUSA championship before we win one (like next year)!
  22. In my opinion, a major factor in the decision about retaining Seth may be determined by who Wren had determined is availabe (and interested in committing) as a replacement and whether or not he is considered a significant upgrade for our entry into the AAC. The lack of success in the CUSA for 6 years can't be ignored when moving to a tougher conference.
  23. Second most improved defense in the nation says it all!
  24. The UNT Women were crowned champions of the Thankgiving Classic at Cal Poly after winning both their games. They came back from a 17-point deficit against Montana State in the first game to win 87-78 and totally overwhelmed a winnless St. Thomas team 81-54 in the second game, playing the bench for a large portion of the game. Amber Dixon had a stellar tournament performance, scoring a career-high 26 points against Montana State and 15 points against St. Thomas. She also had 6 and 7 rebounds in the two games. The UNT Women now have a 4-2 record and host SMU at The Super Pit this Friday at 6:30 p.m. Let's support the team against SMU...GMG!
