  1. Great comeback but should never have gotten that far behind. They seemed to take the game for granted and didn't show any intensity until they got 18 points behind. Can't wait that long to begin playing and expect to win most of those games. Kudos for turning it on after being 18 points behind at about the midpoint of the 3rd quarter...not many teams could have done this. GMG
  2. The competition gets tougher, for sure. Hopefully Ruben and John will be back and at full speed. GMG
  3. Totally agree...seems like we could be gracious enough to appreciate what they did to move our program to another level and wish them success in their current and future situations. I am sure they both want the best for us even though they have moved on. Where would our program be now without them having been a part of it?
  4. Considering they were picked to finish #12 of 14 teams in the pre-season poll, I think they are off to a great start. Time will tell! GMG
  5. Plus, according to Coach Burton, Dyani Robinson, who scored 22 points, is just now getting her confidence back after missing the second half of the season last year at Texas A&M-Commerce due to injury. She was the Lone Star Conference Player of the Year her junior year. Last year she played in 17 games before her injury, averaging 17.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. As an experienced player, she may be a valued asset to the team during conference play. Excited about the rest of the year! GMG
  6. The women easily beat FAU this afternoon, moving to a 2-1 conference record. It was never a contest. Next up is a home game next Sunday afternoon against 1-2 Wichita State. Only conference loss was to Charlotte, who currently leads the conference with a 3-0 record. Lots of speed and talent on this year's team. It will be an interesting season.
  7. #8 is former UNT Coach Tashard Choice...agree PC needs a big raise or we will lose him
  8. Let's not forget the WBB program possibly making a run at the tournament. Will have to see how they fare against tougher competition, but I think they have a chance to do well.
  9. Private Catholic school in Erie, PA...Divison II
  10. All the more reason to attend Senior Day this Saturday!
  11. Totally agree!
  12. Coach Rod Rust at Fouts when I was a student at North Texas...been through a lot as a fan!
  13. Thank you, thank you, thank you...first time I remember being able to hear the questions asked. It makes all the difference! Added to now identifying the players, the press conference video is much more informative. Love the improved product.
  14. Thanks for finally indentifying the players being interviewed. Now please give the press access to a microphone that will allow us to hear the questions being asked.
  15. I have wondered the same thing. Seems to be such an obvious thing, just like providing a microphone to the people asking the questions so that they can be heard. That has improved some, but could be better!
  16. Thank you for the follow-up and thank you, Walter Hartman, for the van and supporting Mean Green Tennis!
  17. Ron always told me he stressed to Booger he could be just another player on a big-time team or a star at North Texas and Booger chose North Texas and became a star as Ron predicted.
  18. Ron and his running buddy in the old days, Paul Polk, were super UNT fans and I enjoyed sharing games, trips, and stories with them over many, many years. Ron was a class act and a fine gentleman! He will definitely be missed. RIP, Ron.
  19. Rives McBee, inducted into the UNT Hall of Fame in 2022, died in a Dallas hospital on October 4, 2023 at age 84. He was born in Denton and graduated from Denton High School in 1957. He earned a golf scholarship to North Texas State and went on to successfully play on the Pro Tour for many years, including the Senior circuit. He was a long time pro at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Tx. A complete obituary can be found at brownmem.com

  20. Van donated by Walter Hartman...is he an alum? car dealer? tennis fan?
  21. Were you able to watch any of the matches? I know the team is young and don't know the caliber of competition in this tournament, but seems a little weak. However, with recruitment of international players sometimes small schools are very tough. Would like some insight if you were able to attend (or maybe you were a tournament official?). Might have been scheduled as a confidence builder.
  22. @untbowler
  23. Very young team of all international players. @UNT Bowler any insight on the quality of players on the team?
  24. Totally agree...decisions need to be made for the good of the majority of student athletes being able to get a college degree to help secure their future because they aren't getting the big NIL money or going pro. I am sad that college athletics no longer seems to want to serve the majority of its athletes.
