  1. Love the Scout Team guys. They are a very important part of the team, yet normally don't get much, if any recognition. I doubt any of them get NIL money and they play for the love of the game. Thanks UNT Football for recognizing them and hope they get a chance to play on the regular squad in the future. GMG...we are all in this together...beat ACU to move to 2-0!
  2. This is a big job requiring lots of organizational skills...very underappreciated. Thanks to the equipment manager and his team! Those behind the scenes contribute so much without much acknowledgement. Thanks to UNT Football for sharing this.
  3. Thanks for posting but still a 40-mile one-way trip for me. Boomer Jack's in Bedford was closer to my location. Would be just as easy to go to Eastside in Denton unless there is a Dallas event closer than Frisco. Any news about the Dallas event? Hopefully closer to the mid-cities area. Looks like it will be ESPN+ for me!
  4. Any game watching party in the Mid-Cities area...Irving, Arlington, Euless, Hurst, Euless, Bedford, etc.? or even Ft. Worth?
  5. The Game Changers is a good book that every UNT fan should read. It is very informative of what these two gentlemen faced.
  6. Having been a season ticket holder for around 50 years, I have forgotten a lot of things. However, I do remember this being attempted in the past. Not sure of exactly when or the details now, but maybe some of the "old timers" can help me out. I believe the current season ticket holders were asked to try and get 5 new ones from people they knew. Points were awarded and there were some prizes at the end, but I don't remember what. I believe the current season ticket holders were called "Ambassadors" or something similar. I don't recall if it involved all current season ticket holders or some who the AD chose to participate. Too much gone on since then to remember the specifics. I don't recall how successful the program was, but assume not very much so or it would have continued. Anyone remember this program that could add details? Also want to give out kudos to Hannah as others have. She has been very helpful to me and in contact often. I think she is the best head of the ticket office we have had!
  7. Read it about a year ago...good book
  8. I saw Kinky Friedman in 2011 in Salado at a benefit concert with BJ Thomas for the Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch. He was well know but the draw for me that night was BJ Thomas who played in small dance halls around Houston with a local band called the Triumphs. Battle dances with Roy Head and the Traits were always special when I was growing up. And the old timers probably remember his song "Raindrops Keep Failing on My Head" from the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." However I must say than Kinky held his own that evening and was very entertaining. It was a hoot to listen to his satirical style. I knew of him from his run for governor of Texas in 2006 and his articles in Texas Monthly. I did not know he had passed away. May he rest in peace. I wish we had more people these days who did not take themselves so seriously and enjoyed life like Kinky did.
  9. Thanks. I need to catch up on the status of college tennis teams in this modern era. Does the UNT tennis team have its own trainer or do they share with other non-revenue sports? Does our incoming transfer have a history of injuries?
  10. I was unable to attend this year in Ft. Worth. How did those of you who were able to attend feel about the venue and the AAC tournament set up?
  11. Agree...it's a sad state of affairs and I never would have believed that I could have lost so much interest in college sports after being such an avid fan for decades but that is where I am now
  12. Any idea why she wanted a change? Is Utah State highly though of in the college tennis world?
  13. Who did we lose and where did she go?
  14. Graduate transfer? How many years of eligibility remaining?
  15. September 1967....Steve Ramsey at Fouts Field...my first game as a North Texas student
  16. Think it would be a good idea to add stops in Central Texas, East Texas, West Texas, and Oklahoma to those already planned to extend our footprints to new areas.
  17. Unfortunately I was in Reno and witnessed the 72-0 loss mentioned. It was even worse than the score! Not an enjoyable trip for a Mean Green fan.
  18. Have any of our players entered the transfer portal this year? Have we signed any recruits for next year?
  19. Played USF earlier in the year and lost a close match 3-4 so could be interesting. #12 seed UNT vs #5 seed USF. ECU was the #13 seed and the final score didn't show how close it had gotten. UNT won the doubles point and the first two singles matches in straight sets to go up 3-0, but the remaining matches went into the 3rd set and could have gone either way. Our #6 player pulled out a 6-4 third set to clinch the match, leaving 2 matches on the court still in the 3rd set. Good win for our young team. Hope it translates into some confidence tomorrow...they will need it! GMG
  20. All right, all right....all is starting out right for the offseason!
  21. East Carolina's schedule and North Texas's schedule show a different approach to pre-conference play. UNT's is much stronger. ECU looked soft to me, although I am not an expert on the good teams if they are not ranked. I hope this tough pre-conference schedule reaps benefits for us. Sweep is a good start! GMG
  22. Lots of positive comments from ESPN+ announcers about our fan turnout for the game and all the Green in the stands. Thanks to those who were able to attend. GMG
  23. I have been noticing the (RV) ahead of the Florida Atlantic name in articles recently and have no idea what that means. Can someone enlighten me?
  24. This thread aged well. Let's hope she comes back for her Covid year!
