  1. I don't know "Matt from A700" but I see him as one of the type of fans that you describe. He has taken time to arrange and gather groups of fans for games around the state and country. Some do podcasts. The Maniacs seem to be doing a good job of getting more students involved. Perhaps the answer to getting more fans is in more grass roots efforts like these. For us "old timers" it was the Mean Green Club that got us to be lifelong fans. Tailgating groups seem to have somewhat carried on that tradition. We need to find younger fans who have the energy, health, and understanding what their peers enjoy and have the Athletic Department cultivate them to help with this mission. Any of you "youngsters" to the challenge?
  2. I was just thinking about Chandler Morris and a possible NFL career. If this is a desire on his part and he continues to have a good year and not get injured, I can see him declaring for the draft at the end of the year. Why risk having an injury or a lesser statistical year, whether at UNT or elsewhere due to NIL? I don't know how the scouts view his potential in the NFL, however, and I guess that is the biggest question.
  3. Missed that play...thought they said he was out as an injured player
  4. And without Ward and Sides playing in the game as well...strong showing by receivers
  5. 5 touchdown passes thrown to 5 different receivers...not bad!
  6. Agree. These are the first teams I saw as a North Texas fan and are still the best IMO. Lots of pro players came out of that group! I can only hope to live long enough to see us get back to that level of play.
  7. Was going the say the same thing. There are probably many who think we should be dropped. We need to take care of our own business...winning, attendance, financial support, etc., before we start talking about removing other schools. We still have a long way to go...GMG!
  8. If you have not read the book "Mean Joe Greene: Built by Football," you might enjoy it. Goes all the way back to his time at Temple Dunbar High School.
  9. I wasn't able to make it to the game but wondered what the turnout was like for the members of the football teams being honored. I saw the video of Johnny Quinn so I assume he was there. How many others? We need to do all we can to encourage support from former players. Where there special activities planned for this group?
  10. Revisiting these points after win over Wyoming, increasing our record to 3-1. Let's keep the momentum going with a win against Tulsa...our first conference game! The AD needs to keep up the emphasis on attendance with another round of unique ideas. GMG!
  11. Amen, Brother!
  12. Stats just show why we have to win this game to have any credibility going forward.
  13. Yes, I have been following UNT football for 50+ years and seen it many times, which is why this makes this game so critical. We have to change the perception to move forward and the only way to do that is to win these important games. This one is possible so we MUST take advantage of this opportunity.
  14. It is my opinion that Saturday's game against Wyoming has become extremely critical to not only this season, but the immediate future for UNT football. This is how I see it: 1. Is the coaching staff capable of motivating players after such a humiliating loss? Can they come up with a game plan that will work against Wyoming? 2. Do we have players who possess the character to give their best effort every game and especially after such a big loss? 3. Will our fans show up to support the team after such a disastrous game against Texas Tech or will the attendance be minimal with only die hard fans attending? 4. Will the Athletic Department continue emphasizing attendance in unique ways even if we lose the game? I think we are at a crossroads. Another loss against a "name" school, especially at home, would spiral us downward in many areas despite a having a 2-2 record. The team would lose confidence in the coaches, recruiting and transfer portal prospects would look at us more negatively, fan support would diminish again, and the athletic department would have an even more difficult time selling our football program to prospective fans and donors. Also future conference opportunities would be damaged. There is a lot riding on this game. We MUST win on Saturday! GMG
  15. Looks like UNT got a good tennis transfer from Texas A&M as Gianna Pielet, now with the Mean Green, was selected for this prestigious tournament...our last player was one of our best ever, Maria Kononova in 2018 Way to go, G! GMG https://meangreensports.com/news/2024/9/6/womens-tennis-pielet-selected-to-represent-unt-tennis-at-ita-all-american-championship

  16. Tomorrow is the last day to vote!
  17. Can you vote more than once in this poll?
  18. Oops...late at night and thinking of the last game I was able to attend in person...o.k. let's beat SFA and move to 2-0!
  19. Love the Scout Team guys. They are a very important part of the team, yet normally don't get much, if any recognition. I doubt any of them get NIL money and they play for the love of the game. Thanks UNT Football for recognizing them and hope they get a chance to play on the regular squad in the future. GMG...we are all in this together...beat ACU to move to 2-0!
  20. This is a big job requiring lots of organizational skills...very underappreciated. Thanks to the equipment manager and his team! Those behind the scenes contribute so much without much acknowledgement. Thanks to UNT Football for sharing this.
  21. Thanks for posting but still a 40-mile one-way trip for me. Boomer Jack's in Bedford was closer to my location. Would be just as easy to go to Eastside in Denton unless there is a Dallas event closer than Frisco. Any news about the Dallas event? Hopefully closer to the mid-cities area. Looks like it will be ESPN+ for me!
  22. Any game watching party in the Mid-Cities area...Irving, Arlington, Euless, Hurst, Euless, Bedford, etc.? or even Ft. Worth?
  23. The Game Changers is a good book that every UNT fan should read. It is very informative of what these two gentlemen faced.
  24. Having been a season ticket holder for around 50 years, I have forgotten a lot of things. However, I do remember this being attempted in the past. Not sure of exactly when or the details now, but maybe some of the "old timers" can help me out. I believe the current season ticket holders were asked to try and get 5 new ones from people they knew. Points were awarded and there were some prizes at the end, but I don't remember what. I believe the current season ticket holders were called "Ambassadors" or something similar. I don't recall if it involved all current season ticket holders or some who the AD chose to participate. Too much gone on since then to remember the specifics. I don't recall how successful the program was, but assume not very much so or it would have continued. Anyone remember this program that could add details? Also want to give out kudos to Hannah as others have. She has been very helpful to me and in contact often. I think she is the best head of the ticket office we have had!
