  1. If we are in the market for a new coach, why do most of you assume that Jason Fuente will not get some better offers than UNT? Would we want someone that didn't get interest from other schools at least at our level or higher? I know we talk about an "association" with Wren Baker, but does anyone know if they just worked together of if they were actually friends?
  2. As a loyal and ardent UNT football and basketball fan for almost 55 years (season ticket holder, Mean Green Club/Mean Green Scholarship Fund donor at a level I could afford—not large, but consistent, Hub Club, etc.), I have seen the highs and lows in UNT athletics over those 55 years. When you become older you start to reflect on the past more often. I have also been thinking about the future of UNT football and hoping I will see a bright one for UNT while I am still here to enjoy it. I see the move to the AAC as a pivotal point in the 55-year athletic history I have been a part of, second only to our move to 1-AA football and back to 1-A. With this comes a huge decision that Wren Baker is charged with making and I do not envy him having to do so. I am just a fan and don’t have insight into the “inner workings” of the athletic department, but, in my opinion, these are the questions Wren needs to answer today about our football program (maybe he already has)? 1. Has Seth demonstrated that he can lead our football program successfully in the AAC? I don’t see the next two games as the only answer to this question, but the “body of work” over the last 6 years in these areas---recruitment, motivation and development of athletes, game preparation and execution, hiring and management of staff, graduation rate, positive experience of athletes, and a positive perception of our program as an ethical one by our peers and the public. 2. Is there a coach “on our radar” that we have a realistic chance to hiring this year that will be able to exceed at these things better than Seth? 3. If it is determined that a change in coaches is needed, what effect will the monetary buyout have on our other goals and which is most important to our future success in the AAC---change in coaches or other goals? Do we need to make a change this year or can we afford to wait until next year without harming our successful transition to the AAC? 4. If it is determined that a change is not needed this year, what needs to be done next year to ensure our success in the AAC beginning in 2023, a higher level of competition than the CUSA? Most of this has been discussed on the board before, but it seems we are putting a lot of emphasis on the last two games. I believe Wren need to look at the bigger picture than just the results of the next two games, plus a possible bowl game, to make his decision It will have a long-lasting effect on UNT athletics. Looking back at decisions made the last 55 years validates this! I have confidence that Wren will make the decision that is best for UNT. I also hope President S. does not retire until we get established in the AAC. If he does, then I certainly hope the BOR will carefully look at the attitude of candidates toward athletics. We have a good administrative support system now, but that definitely has not been true in the past. We need to keep that support going to have that bright future I hope for. GO MEAN GREEEN!
  3. I have it on my Android phone...just installed in off the app
  4. Set school record with 14 three pointers!
  5. List of signings on the football page...looks good!
  6. Enjoyed reading your insight and tend to agree with you....hope we go after McGuire this year...might not have a chance at him next year!
  7. I think it would be very important to determine if the "new era" of college football has passed by Coach Patterson before going after him for UNT's coach. I am reminded of a friend in a simiilar circumstance, although in another sport. Spent decades being a successful big-time college coach with national recognition and then let go after a couple of down years. Upon reflection it seemed that the motivation methods, changes in the college game, and dealing with a new generation of college athlete didn't result in the same success any longer. More parent demands and involvement, more student athletes who felt entitled, and a more fickle fanbase changed the skill set needed to continue to be a successful coach. Adaptability to a new landscape in college sports is a must...some can do it and some are too set in their philosophy to be able to change. I have no idea where Coach Patterson fits in this new landscape, but that would be a big point to determine before going after him.
  8. @untbowlerWhat about the tennis team in AAC? We didn't have the same success in CUSA as we did in the Sun Belt. How do you think we measure up in the AAC?
  9. Is anyone knowledgable of how we might compare with the AAC teams in women's sports, especially in our soccer, softball, and golf teams who have been successful in CUSA?
  10. Very informative...good job! Lots of good insight from Wren.
  11. 518 on Frontier in Dallas if you want to record
  12. I don't think it is...old timer here...is there a link to The Varsity Network that will allow it to be accessed on a computer rather than a cellphone? Used to listen to TuneIn Radio on my computer, but not an option now, apparantly.
  13. Any way to listen to the game on the computer so that an external speaker can be used? It looks as if The Varsity Network ap is only available on a cellphone.
  14. Not a strong field, but the ladies took care of business.
  15. Didn't see CUSA on the list of conferences. What did I miss doing? And is this only available on cell phones, not laptop computers?
  16. I thought it was just me forgetting how to get access. I hope there is a way to listen online next week against SMU since I don't have access to ESPN+ Anyone have any suggestions on internet radio access? TuneIn Radio didn't work for me this time like it did last year.
  17. Wish they would set up the sound system where you could hear the questions being asked...
  18. Also saw a economist on the local news tonight who said the Big 12 should look at Texas schools in urban towns as new members if they were interest in helping the Texas economy...I think it was Channel 11...don't know if Denton being close to Dallas would be considered an urban ciity....UH, UTSA, SMU, UNT, UTEP...we might be the odd man out in this scenario unless UTEP is too far away from the rest of the schools...interesting to hear his opinion, however
  19. I believe in Coach Bennett as an experienced motivater who has the passion that seemed to be missing the last couple of years...hope I'm right GMG
  20. Wonder what the cost of living is like?
  21. List shows those of the All Century Team who attended the banquet or had a representative attend. Is there a complete list of members of the All Century Team available?
  22. Had a film clip on Channel 11 Sports at 6:00 pm tonight touting him as leader and mentioned he played for North Texas
  23. I think the University needs to update the intro...2018?
