Wren Baker in consideration for Mizzou AD job…
greengal replied to NorthTexasSportsNetwork's topic in Mean Green Football
Wren is not yet ready to leave UNT. He has too much left to do. I will not believe this until I get it from a better source. -
HOOVER, Ala. — Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher can’t wait for the College Football Playoff to expand to 12 teams from its current four, and not only because the Aggies finished No. 5 in last year’s final CFP tabulation leading to the postseason. “I’m all for it,” Fisher said Wednesday, the third of four SEC Media Days. “It’s necessary and needed. … Name me a sport in any collegiate level that, except for the top five conferences, which are about 60 teams, where the other 60 teams have no chance to win a national championship. The magazines don't seem to see us winning. Hope they are wrong but usually they are right. If we don't I hope they will consider giving Seth another year to right the ship with Coach Bennet.

I would like an answer to this question as well. UTA coworker claims we are ducking them.

So what happens to sites like Rivals, 247 and others?
greengal replied to Tom McKrackin's topic in Mean Green Football
Won't the fact that NCAA is no longer involved bleed down to the high schools as well? And these sites are not just for high schoolers they do a lot of content with the college players and coaches as well. And much of the recruiting of high school players is being done by college players. -

Troy seems to always get good talent. -

Updated at 1:45 p.m. to include more reaction. The University of North Texas has declined to sponsor its concert stage at the upcoming Denton Arts & Jazz Festival, citing a reallocation of money and the time and energy required by UNT staff to run the stage. In a statement to the Denton Record-Chronicle, Jim Bersheidt said the Division of Brand Strategy and Communications had paid the sponsorship for the popular stage that featured student ensembles throughout the free three-day festival. read more: https://dentonrc.com/news/unt-pulls-jazz-fest-sponsorship-for-october-event/article_2d17e6de-296d-5550-bee7-5f12a54cf9cc.html

May 23 was one of those sleepy Mondays when nothing particularly interesting was expected. The last games of 2015-16 had been played, classes were out, the parking lots were deserted, graduation was done, and a quiet emptiness had settled over the campus. The only thing out of the ordinary was an email telling everyone in the athletic department to report to the team meeting room at 9:40 a.m. That Monday morning's revelation that Rick Villarreal was stepping down as North Texas' athletic director came as shock to everyone in the room. I knew retirement was on his mind, and had spoken with him briefly on the subject. It was something he was clearly planning for his near future. Nevertheless, Villarreal's emotional announcement turned the day upside down, and left the staff in stunned silence. Monday, June 20, was Rick's last day as the Mean Green's AD. But before North Texas turns the page and president Neal Smatresk embarks in earnest on the task of finding a successor, it seems appropriate to address a question: What is the legacy of Rick Villarreal? read more: https://meangreensports.com/news/2016/6/20/Examining_The_Legacy_Of_Rick_Villarreal.aspx

Maybe for UNT someday .. BYU's new locker rooms
greengal replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
The lockers aren't bad they just need some TLC. I would use a darker finish on the wood and add some lighting as a start. They should give them some hangers for their outfits to make the area more tidy. Not sure if it is the framing of the picture but the work spaces seem a little small. Maybe tear down the walls between each locker to expand the living area for each? -
