  1. It's called ADVERTISING. And with all the traffic they get on that site I don't think it's a bad idea at all. You'd need to figure a way to get people to the site so that they actually see it, otherwise they'll shoot right by it.
  2. Plum, I am sorry, hope I didn't sound like I was coming down on you. Yeah, in the 1950s and 60s PA Jeff had white helmets. By the time I was buttin' heads with em, things had changed.
  3. I think what UNT really needs are people who can buy a section, but that's still a good idea.
  4. I'd be interested in having some real football input from Mr. Archie, X and Os, what defense to use it this situation or how the offense works here, nuts and bolts stuff. How often do you get a coach to help explain some of it to you. So many people get the basics of the game wrong.
  5. Wow, what do UNT's hockey unis look like? photos anybody?
  6. No, I played against Todd Dodge in HS and the PA Jeff helmets were maroon: Dodge on the left and Brent Duhon on the right. PA Jeff's colors were maroon and gold.
  7. Greensleeves: Back to the future: What I'd like to see:
  8. You want to know how to close the gap? Bring back one platoon football. Single platoon football means less $$$ spent for scholarships and big coaching staffs and would make smaller programs like UNT more competitive with the Texas and OUs of the world. it would also mean that colleges and universities could whore less and raise academic standards. But, it would also mean less spectacular play. Still, I'm for it.
  9. No, it's not a cheap shot. It is accurate. I would say not at the expense of men's sports which ultimately pay the bills. This equalization stuff is BS. Women's basketball is NOT equal to men's basketball and none of the women's sports are close to equal with football, which tends to pay the tab for most athletic programs. Women's sports simply can't draw the numbers that men's sports can, in large part because women are not the athletes that men are. Them's just the facts.
  10. West Texas also dropped football for one season (1991) then resumed as an NCAA Div. II team in the Lone Star Conference.
  11. I'm kinda a sucker for the old school look:
  12. Yeah, I kept clicking and clicking on my bookmark. What is it called when you repeat the same action over and over again expecting a different outcome? Oh yeah, insanity!
  13. Far out!
  14. Starting at 30-35,000 is a must but building a stadium that can be easily enlarged is preferable. A fully enclosed bowl is a sound, simple idea. A half size replica of Berlin's Olympic Stadium would be ideal (without the track): But a U shaped venue would also work. Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, Pacific University: But Kansas' Memorial Stadium might be the best way to go, starting out with a U and adding upper decks as needed:
  15. I am not old enough to recall that, but my dad played football for the Quantico Marines for two years and he told me stories about it. They played a lot of East Coast college teams like Bucknell, VMI, Adorondack etc. and were pretty good. Dad parlayed his playing in the Marines to play ball at Wyoming and then Midwestern State in Wichita Falls. He had try-outs with both the Houston Oilers and the Denver Broncos prior to the AFL's first season, but never made the cut. If you look back into the 1940s and 1950s, you will find a lot of big name stars played service ball. Doak Walker played for Brook Army Med Center before he came to SMU.
  16. What NT might need is an unusual helmet design like the kind Illinois used to use: or similar to the kind Dartmouth uses:
  17. This sounds good to me. AF has had an interesting pass/run offense the past two seasons.
  18. This year's Fiesta Bowl ranks in the top three, but the 2006 Rose Bowl was THE best bowl game of them all. Speaking of great bowl games, growing up in the Houston area afforded me the opportunity to see three great Bluebonnet Bowl games: 1968: SMU-28 OU-27 1974: Houston-31 NC State-31 1975: Texas-38 Colorado-21
  19. 2009? I'm gonna be there for THAT one. Beat the Zoomies!
  20. Nice reminder. Love seeing OU bite the dust.
