  1. So...should the ACC lose FSU, Clemson, Miami, UNC and VaTech....do Stanford and Cal stick around? I get that they may still want to be associated academically with Duke, GT, WF....but is it worth it to be in such a far flung ATHLETIC conference where the TV money can't possibly make up for the travel? If they decide it's not, does that mean they tuck tail and join the MWC or WCC? What of the ACC remnants? Do they play with the likes of the Sun Belt and AAC? History says that they would raid the nearest schools from the conference one rung down in the pecking order. If the CFP continues to allow access beyond just the SEC/Big10, then history just continues to repeat itself, impo.
  2. Exactly why I quit responding to him. Oh, and you're absolutely right about Josh White. His mind would probably short circuit if he ever got a real look at the last roster JJ had.
  3. Reading a bit too much into my post. Saying he’s not TP or Hamlet can be true while him still being a very good player for us. Nowhere did I say didn’t like him or didn’t want him on the team. Just said that coaches need to help him and the team more than just turning our best scorer loose to “create”. Your point that he’s a one man offense really only adds to what I’m saying.
  4. Nope, I saw it. He “created” an out of control shot from beyond nba range. That’s not what we’re looking for.
  5. Edwards is awesome, but if we need a three with the last shot he can’t create it. We need to draw up better late game offensive set plays. We got by the last several years with Hamlet and Perry creating shots. Coaches need to step it up to fill the void because that guy isn’t on the team.
  6. I hear what you are saying, but we won the conference 3 years in a row in the regular season but only saw 1 tournament appearance out of that. While I tend to think that that 2020 team was the best team McCasland had in his time here, there was no guarantee we were going to win the tournament....which we would have had to do b/c CUSA was a 1 bid league.
  7. There are 4 playoff spots for FBS football and over 130 teams. There are 68 playoff/tournament spots for D1 basketball with 351 teams. So no, the ratio is not the same.
  8. When you have a rotation of 8 guys, losing 2 of them is killer. We desperately need more depth next season. This has been an issue that we've managed to get lucky and dodge the last several years. Maybe this is a limitation of our NIL funding/allocation? Pulling in guys capable of contributing surely commands more funds.
  9. And yet we've made O-N-E NCAA tournament appearance in that time. College basketball grants more access than FBS football to the "National Championship Playoff", but it still ain't good.
  10. How do you feel about Phil Jackson or Pep Guardiola?
  11. Not a lot to be upset about after that one except the final score. Great game. Great atmosphere. Put on a show on national TV for the second game in a row. Get em in the return game.
  12. Had to watch it on tv and that might be the first time I can remember ESPN announcing being that pumped and excited about anything UNT sports related. They were literally slobbering over us. It’s about damn time. Loved it. Wish I could’ve been there in person…missed what looked like an epic atmosphere, and it absolutely came through on TV.
  13. I missed this game, unfortunately. Just the box score of 1-17 from 3pt is really all you need to see, though. We're a volume 3pt shooting team and made 1. I'm highly inclined to think and agree with those who said we must have been tired. Shooting touch is the first thing to go when you're tired.
  14. Well I’ll be darned. Looks good on tape and that offer list is something. This is a deep QB room on paper.
  15. I had a production stop call and missed all but the last 6 minutes. But what a GREAT six minutes it was! Unreal final minute. I know the team needed that and so did I. Hope it ignites the students and gets some energy around this team.
  16. Kind of a lot, actually.
  17. On the contrary, if dirty schmoo was still on our schedule Pavia IS EXACTLY the guy I want representing the program. What a missed opportunity!
  18. I like every single one of those. But Dogfish 90 minute IPA is my movie watching sipper. Damn good selection. Can’t represent UNT, but still dang good.
  19. North Texas has never been mass appeal. We are cool, artsy, niche. Lean that direction. We probably need to go with a sour mash or mead. Enlist John Williams to pick it.
  20. Seems like a former starter from TCU should be better than a former starter from ULM. Intrigued.
  21. Didn't know he went to Shertz-Clemens. Think that's where Scott Hall graduated. Going back 20-25 years, there was not a UTSA football program and Sam Houston and Texas St weren't D1 FBS. Makes you wonder how many on those school's rosters would be playing here instead if they never moved up.
  22. Tough to post and ask this after yesterday. Yesterday was pretty deflating. Still, we’re .500 so that’s a C. To quote Bill Parcells, “you are what your record says you are.” We aren’t good. We aren’t bad. Hope the guys can turn it around and find an extra gear for conference. We will need it. This conference is tougher than our last.
  23. Why is this huge? What is he going to bring?
  24. I stand corrected.
  25. What we really need is for the pro teams to create their own farm system. Why can the xfl or usfl not be the minor leagues and let kids sign with them directly out of high school? NFL teams need to pick an affiliate to partner with and that becomes their minor league. Then if you choose to go the college route you’re locked in for 3 years to that school before you can jump back out or transfer to another school? NIL can still exist and may be a tough decision to pick college over pro, but once you sign it’s a 3 year contract with the school. Then you can start to reign in this madness.
