  1. It boggles my mind that tcu got over 8k to a basketball game this past week. I was pretty ready to blame Covid for our attendance woes…and it still is the biggest reason for the lack of decent crowds…but how did tcu, with its traditionally meh basketball history entice 8k in the middle of this latest surge?! We have to step it up…and I agree, our ticket sales and promotions department gets an F this year. When Wren first arrived in Denton we went all out for football and basketball. Why are we doing so little today? If I’m guessing I’d have to assume that this is an area where we’ve cut back the budget the most to deal with the revenue losses from Covid the last two years.
  2. That Buffalo loss stings, and Wichita St keeps losing…barely above .500. Drake is doing well, but that is really our only quality win outside the conference. A close loss to Miami is still a loss. Our OOC schedule looks like a really solid mix of high major and traditional mid-major powers. Unfortunately the mid-majors are almost all in a down year compared to their history. So we’re going to need to win out, imo.
  3. This new system really, really sucks. Having to constantly recruit your own roster to fend off other schools just feels like a completely broken system.
  4. If Morris doesn’t have a 5 star QB son graduating soon would you even consider him? I think there is no way you would. It’s like us hiring Dodge and then getting Riley (4*) to come with him. Morris’ defenses at smu and UA were about as bad as Dodge’s UNT defenses. Does Morris even want to coach college ball again?
  5. Awesome pic. These guys are having fun.
  6. Whoever said I was classy? Now, bye.
  7. From what I read, public support was behind June. Clearly the AD didn’t want to go that route so he offered him a deal he’d have to refuse. June going public with the offer was probably not expected, hence the story blew up. Not much more to this than that.
  8. I’m confused as to why anyone would question how buying better players would directly translate to more wins. Are you not paying attention? Or keeping your head in the sand and think that cheating, paying players just stopped when the old SWC died?! The NIL just makes what the best P5 schools have been doing all along LEGAL. SMU, with its billionaire donors, is going to be a lot better until these rules get reigned in. Coming on our board and telling us to go get a “cutting edge NIL program” makes me want to puke. Sure, we’ll just pull a few billionaire donors out of our ass. Get lost you low life smuers.
  9. Average is finishing .500 or middle of the pack in conference. All Hedlund has done is win or finish top 2 basically every year for 20+ years. Are we now Nebraska?
  10. This. I see some arguments against playoff expansion that reason more teams in the field means the possibility of an all SEC final four increases, as well. Based on the current 12 team proposals out there that add more guaranteed spots for P5 and then more at-large spots, it is likely to mean at least 3 sec teams make that playoff every year. In theory, they could all win and we still end up with an all sec final. The argument is meant to sway opinion against expanding. I’d be absolutely ok with that scenario, though if it meant more access opportunities for other conferences and schools- especially G5 schools. Saban and the P5 schools can yell until they are blue in the face that we don’t belong. If they really believed that then they would have no problem lining up, filling a stadium and getting an extra win added to their schedule every year in the first rounds of a playoff. I call BS.
  11. Interesting take at the end. Essentially the transfer portal gives even more power to coaches than before. I hadn’t considered that, but he is exactly right.
  12. Crappy teams? It's all relative to your peers and your conference. That said, I'm not arguing with you. We haven't been able to beat teams with winning records. I'd like to get to the point where we can consistently. All that I am saying is that regardless of who is coaching here next Fall, the schedule is going to line up pretty well to expect some wins--more than a .500 record, at least. Obviously, stuff happens and that's why you play the games...
  13. Have you guys not looked at our actual schedule next year? This year's team, as is, wins at least 7, if not more. We play SMU, Texas Southern, UNLV and Memphis in the OOC. Compare that to HBU, SMU, Missouri and Liberty from this season. Even if you think we can't beat SMU, the other 3 are all winnable. UNLV is terrible and Memphis is on a sharp decline. In conference UAB is still going to be a load, but UTSA graduates nearly everyone. With SMiss and Marshall possibly leaving this summer that's 2 more tough games off the list. I do think LaTech will be better with Cumbie, but not sure it'll be next year. All of that said, I see only 2 games that look like we're obvious underdogs heading in. 2022's schedule is light enough that we could be looking for double digit wins if we can just get the QB situation figured out (meaning just average QB play, not the well below avg we got this year).
  14. I’m right there with you…but I did answer the question. You need to wait until signing day is over and this class is complete, and see what we do on the coaching staff. We’ve already let the QB coach go and we see coaching turnover every year. I’ll wait to decide to get excited or not after those things are settled. For the record, excited to me means not expecting just 7 wins. It’s 9+ and conference championship aspirations. I think the team as currently constructed will get to 6 or 7 wins. That’s not going to get me hooked. I want to see marked improvement at QB, receiver and secondary.
  15. Are you saying that Littrell threw those two 2nd quarter interceptions that killed us? I don't like calling out players, but our QB picked a bad time to have one of his worst games. Of course, some of that is on the coaches, but that first int was a sailed pass over the middle, and the second one never should have been thrown. I'm not entirely sold on Littrell returning, but I do recognize the upswing that this team was on and is likely to continue. I'll hold my breath until signing day is over and we see what staff changes are made. Our QB room needs to improve for us to have a shot at 7+ wins next year.
  16. Wrong. We traveled to Liberty after the Arkansas game. We absolutely annihilated them, 47-7. The LaTech game was a nut kick, still. We unveiled the Mean Joe statue before the game. That was attended by a bunch of NFL Hall of Famers. Then I sat in my seat in the stadium and watched over and over new people trying to find their seats in a stadium they had never been to. I have been going to games for 20 years and hadn’t ever seen that…and haven’t since. We had the casual UNT fan aboard for a few short weeks.
  17. We just got whipped by a middle of the road MAC team in a home game. If Fuente is still available, go get him. We have a lot of ships still left to give and shape that first class.
  18. This is where I’m at. However, people are acting like the season is over and that the bowl game doesn’t matter. We signed less than half a class at early signing day. That still leaves Wren and a new coach time to adjust and bring in players that they would want. I’m not saying that we signed half a class so we could keep SL on a short leash, but it absolutely still means we have options. The team needs to finish the season out strong with a big win against Miami. It helps SL close on the rest of this 22’ class, or it paves the way for change.
  19. Any non-diehards who attended, or watched on tv, the UAB or Marshall game surely gave up on us. A five game win streak isn’t bringing them out to a bowl game unless they are dragged (like my Dad). 16k would be great.
  20. For a one game special, that game Torrey just put up was pretty unreal. Only really remember seeing Pat Cobbs, Super Jamario and Dunbar make moves and score on plays like his two first half touchdowns. He was a man possessed that day. Ducking and squeezing between blockers he reminded me of his coach. All those others listed are great, too. We’ve been blessed with always seeming to have at least one really good running back on the squad.
  21. We need a dollar sign emoji we can vote with.
  22. So he acknowledged the KSU offer before accepting ours by saying he thought he was a last option for them, but a first for us…that he wanted to go where he was wanted. Guess KSU took that as they needed to sweeten the offer, which his switching indicates they did.
  23. The stance is you see what the guy who wins against his peer competition does when we step up who our peers are. The bet is that he’s able to continue to win. In order to do that he’d presumably have to pull in better talent. That would get us a step closer to the talent level of the teams we’re playing in the tournament and increases our odds of winning. In summary, you stick with Hedlund.
  24. Eastern Michigan?! Sheesh. Hope not. Guess we could prolly win, though.
