  1. The system is backwards is what I’m saying. It should not be setup so that a conference championship game is considered anything other than a must win game. A playoff field picked by a committee is lame.
  2. Losing in your conference championship should eliminate you. It’s not an “extra game”. It’s a qualifier. This whole thing is dumb and a farce. Couldn’t care less about which conference is better than another. If it’s a playoff, then you gain access by winning your conference. Not by losing it or not even making it to the championship game. But we don’t have a real playoff. We have TV rigging up some garbage. And now they’ve let the devil himself in the room. Dirty rotten filthy schmoo.
  3. Pretty disappointing. Wright has got to figure out some way to gain consistency. He’s great or terrible. No middle ground and we need him to keep teams honest. Also, like McNeese, another loss where the bad guys get over 30 free throw attempts.
  4. In before the lock. I was entertained.
  5. He’s not sniffing top 50 here while we run up tempo air raid. All of you will be disappointed if that’s your mark. We need to get into the 60-75 range and keep scoring in the 26-28ppg range. Or lead the league in sacks, negative plays generated or turnovers. At this point I’ll take either. I like hearing he plays a simple scheme, too and agree with the comments about us being too complex and confusing too many players too often under Caponi. I’m a big fan of KISS - Keep It Simple, Stupid!
  6. A bit early for this reaction. Let’s see how they do in the playoff. OSU has the most invested in its roster this year and has always been at or near the top in spending on football. I still expect OSU to go deep into the playoffs and be there at the end. Also, sounds like Day’s family has about had it with the fan base up in Columbus and may push him towards the NFL.
  7. Disappointed to see the 3 man fronts likely continued. Having not watched any SHSU or ACU games in the past couple years, I'd be interested to know if he at least has a goal line / big package, ideally able to go with multiple fronts as the situation calls for. Single most infuriating thing I watched all year was us lining up in a 3-3-5 on the goal line against UTSA. If I see that ever again, in my lifetime, I'm pretty sure my head will explode. Overall, as Cooley said, we have no idea what we're getting until later on and the games get played. I'll reserve judgment until then. For now, welcome aboard and get to work! There's LOTS to do.
  8. Back and forth game between two good teams. OSU really protects the rim and plays tough defense. When they got set we struggled mightily, but we adjusted by turning up the pressure, got steals and turnovers and pushed the pace in transition. The mark of experience is finding different ways to win and we seem to have it.
  9. We need an offensive coach who puts the defense first. All the teams mentioned (Boise, Tcu, Cincy, UCF) had badass defenses paired with high flying offenses. You CAN still play fundamentally sound defensive football but you can’t pair it with an offense that kids don’t want to play in (what doomed Mac). I actually think DD in 2024 would do both. So the answer is find the next Darrell Dickey. HFC is tricky to hire. He’s got to be someone that can recruit assistants, first and foremost. Dickey had been around a long time and came from a football family (his Dad was KSU HFC) so he had ties everywhere. With a young coach you are betting that he, himself, is going to win games and account for a lack of a deep staff…or that other coaches see him as someone on the rise that they ride the ladder with. That’s what Littrell initially brought and his first staff was tremendous. Then as they started taking promotions he couldn’t replace them. I don’t know this for sure, but Morris doesn’t seem able to bring in enough experienced coaches, yet. His first staff was extremely underwhelming from a resume standpoint. All the doom and gloom in this thread is tiring. UNT still funds the football program at a level that is competitive with the top of the g5. Maybe we need to bring up NIL, but overall, we’re not nearly as far off as some people would have you believe.
  10. You guys realize that all that has happened to this point in the season is that we’ve beaten all the teams we should have (teams with way below .500 records) and lost to every single team that had a winning record? It’s exactly what a mediocre team does. We’ve seen this show for years now. It’s just that the way our schedule lined up it looks like a collapse. Next week we play a pretty lousy Temple squad. I expect we will win that game unless it is played in a winter storm. Then we can judge if this was a collapse, or just doing what we’ve been doing since 2021.
  11. Apparently they were called off as they approached the stadium. Don’t know exactly why but a lady in front me at the stadium said she saw them turn and fly away.
  12. I’m just done with the air raid system. Don’t care who the coach is.
  13. I get it. Trust me, I feel it. I’ll still never root for us to lose. Even at 5-7 it’s not likely that we’d fire him. He has already bought himself another year by scapegoating the DC.
  14. Embarrassing thread. I’ll never root against UNT. I am, however, completely and totally over the air raid.
  15. Do yourself a favor and go look at their roster. In particular, where they all come from. The entire team is transfers, similar to ours, but from big time basketball schools. Doesn't necessarily always translate, but from watching the game, that team has some absolute dudes. Will Wade doing what he does. Still thought we could have beat them, but that's a very good team.
  16. Disappointing finish to that one. Hard to beat a team that gets to take 39 free throws.
  17. Is Plumm back??
  18. Morris told the story on repeat when we hired him. Must’ve missed all that coverage too.
  19. SUMG = Stand Up Mean Green. Believe he’s a comedian. His thread was fun, as you might expect, but dark. Not gonna try to summarize and get deleted. Anyways, my suggestion is do whatever you want. I’m tired of taking the yearly beatings that this program dishes out, too. I’d just like to see us dump a coach within 2-3 years once we realized we whiffed. Let’s speed up the process of finding the right one, not delay the inevitable and drag our record and fan base through years of losing and bad football.
  20. So we delete SUMG’s brilliant thread and keep this loser mentality thread. So North Texas football.
  21. Pat Cobbs needs a more prominent role. If he wants it. If not, and all he ever wants is to coach RBs, then he should have a job here for life. I’m all for grooming Cobbs into a HC and giving him the keys to the university already. His unit is consistently awesome and we’re down to the 5th freaking stringer.
  22. Looked him up. He’s a 5’7” 170lb QB/Wr. You’re trolling us or you’re not watching the same games I am… unless he’s the key to unlocking 800 yards and 55ppg he’s not the answer. The answer is a defense with a pulse. I am not saying we don’t need or want him…but he’s not changing this team from losers to winners by himself. That lousy team that just whipped us last night has always had a better defense on the field than we have. With the exception of 2013.
  23. Getting embarrassed, again, on national TV. To a lousy nutsak team. Their worst team since 2016 or 17 just demolished us. Wish I hadn’t seen that coming, but I have no faith in a team that plays defense as badly as we do. I can’t see us beating ECU. 6-6 at best.
  24. 3 down linemen on the goal line. What are we doing. It’s not a question. I can’t take it anymore
  25. From the 2” line…. We have 3 dlinemen on the field.
