Yes, NIU was I-A at the time and as far as i know, has always been i-a. They were pretty bad those first three years too. Somehow it got turned around. He must have had photos on somebody, but it worked out in the end.

Actually, that is not true. Unless i'm misunderstanding what you are saying. Joe Novak at Northern Illinios won only 3 games his first 3 years at NIU. Including a loss to UNT. His 4th year he went 5-6. Then two years of 6-5. Then i think he won 8, 10, and 9 games the next three years. Then a couple of 7-5 type years before going 2-10 and then retiring. Novak went 3-30 his first three years, then a year of 5-6, then 7 straight winning seasons. So it can be done, for our sake i hope TD can do it.

game over. lights out on a really bad season. i know we were close in a lot of games but i don't know how we go into next season and have any kind of positivity without a change. i don't blame rv for trying this, it was a good gamble. but time to fold the hand.

I've tried to tell myself that the team has improved and Riley will only get better but now even i cannot keep kidding myself. Riley is a turnover machine. Who cares how many yards you can accumulate when you can't score. Who cares when you can complete the 2 yard pass when you can't throw the ball more than 15? yards. Those INTs were brutal, and even worse careless. In close games we are always lacking timeouts. I don't see TD making a difference in any facet of the game. In all honesty, i don't know how army beat vanderbilt. that team we played today has less talent than WKU. I'm at a loss for words. But i don't see this thing turning around. We should've blown out army and fiu. Instead we give the games away. Just like we gave away games earlier in the season. Has this thing gotten better as the season wore on......? I have to say no and that's just not acceptable.

doesn't work that way. you'll never see us bring in a team just for one game, unless it's a I-AA. Either we do the 2-1 thing with a bcs team, do 1-1 with a non-bcs team, or bring in a i-aa. Even TCU doesn't just bring in a name team for one game. You can get a 1-1 with a BCS team but it's rare. SDSU was promised a certain amount of money to go to Idaho to fulfill their part of the series. Idaho gets the same amount when they go to San Diego. It's getting harder and harder for the mid level BCS teams to fill out their schedules. They don't want to go on the road to play the big boys and the big boys certainly aren't going to their place. And why would the North Texas' of the world go to...let's say Maryland for one game when they can go to Alabama for that one game and get a big payday. So the Marylands have to sign a 2 for 1.

Unfortunately we never get the home fans best effort. Partly because we're north texas, but mostly because we have rarely given the big teams a good game. Would love to see that change this weekend.
