Like most things on this board, I don't get it.

Man, DD ran circles around Mac. In every way. I was on board with the Mac hire but at the end there has never been another UNT coach that I couldn't wait to fire. And that's saying something.

NT Daily covers UNT Fan Meeting from Monday

I'm way out here in Idaho but I'm doing a serious slow burn on the fact that Jub Jub chose a fan forum to campaign for his buddy and lecture the fans. That ain't right.... -
DRC: Littrell, UNT getting creative to fill out depleted roster

I don't care if we have four scholarship players, three walk-ons, and a pack mule. RV and Mac are gone. I have hope.- 53 replies

It's a tired message because it makes it sound like it would be a crazy and wholly unpredictable act if success happened here. Meanwhile schools similar to us are succeeding just fine. The question shouldn't be "why not?" but "why the f hasn't it happened already?"

**Important Meeting for All UNT Alumni, Boosters and Fans**
meanrob replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
For a couple of reasons. First off, the person who could affect any kind of change hasn't even been hired yet. So what's going to happen tonight- somebody from Trip's group will be in the corner taking notes and when the new AD comes in they're going to say "hey, before you were hired we met with some fans and here's their gripes." Maybe. But even if that does happen I'm pretty sure the complaint "Ticket office sucks" will be watered down to "Challenges with ticket office." Secondly, the main problem with the UNT Athletic Department isn't they don't listen to the fans. Or that the fans are disgruntled. That's the symptom. The disease has been ineffective, disorganized, unimaginative, and lousy decision-making leadership. If you don't fix that, it doesn't matter that oldguystudent gets to get things off his chest tonight. I get that people are frustrated and getting to voice their complaints tonight makes them feel better, good for them. But.... 85% of the problems complained about on this board can be fixed with a competent AD. The other 15% will always be bitched about (including myself) because not everybody sees eye to eye on every issue. Considering the person to fix these issues has yet to be hired, I'm not sure how letting UNT90 vent about the schedule is solving anything. If anything, have this meeting about six months AFTER the new guy has been on the job. Or better yet, have an "Ask the AD" page on the web site and let him hear grievances through there. -

Personally, I think this meeting is a complete waste of time. -
We won a game last year? Wait.....we played football last year?

That ticket sales income is pathetic. -
Stop worrying about the schedule. It's about tenth on our list of problems. The obsession with the schedule is like worrying about weeds when your house is falling apart. Quarterly meetings are a dumb idea. A real AD should be able to get his message/ideas across through the media/social media.

If my memory serves me correct he started a game against the Aggies down in CS. He had a lot of family there and was injured (broken leg?) in the first series. Don't think he played again.

This kid is way more accurate than Demarcus and would come in having started the last two years. Just like in recruiting I think kids aim really high on their schools they want list but reality sets in. Probably a long shot he comes to UNT but he would be a nice bridge between next year and a high school kid Littrell signs.

http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/story/dakota-prukop-montana-state-bobcats-oregon-texas-tcu-jeff-choate-tim-cramsey-120815 Seen the kid play and personally I don't think he's at the level of Oregon or Texas but he definitely can play. Texas boy too.

Damn, should've googled. I stand corrected.

Derek Thompson was the RV of quarterbacks. Mostly bad, some good, and when we get a good one in here we'll realize how low our standards were. But both will somehow end up in the HOF (see low standards) and somehow before Booger (see crime against humanity).

By real I mean a head coach who handles all the responsibilities of being a head coach. If he's a defensive or offensive minded guy who helps in those areas, I'm fine with that but the coordinators need to be handling the main part of play calling/game planning. By real quarterback I mean a difference maker, not a bus driver. I'm tired of the whole "he's the coordinator but not really the coordinator" thing we've had. And no, in the last twenty years we haven't had all three at the same time. Under Dickey no one really believed Flanigan had any responsibility and I loved Hall but he wasn't a difference maker at quarterback. Who knows what the situation was under Mac.

Put Canales's resume on paper and from another school and you wouldn't hire him as a QB coach, much less OC or head coach. As OC his offenses have been bottom third in the NCAA. His QBs have been abysmal. Nobody praises either his recruiting or talent evaluation. Nobody. Nice guy? Fine, make him a greeter outside of Apogee. I'll be happy when we hire a real coach, with a real OC, who gets us a real quarterback. Like successful schools do.

The irony of all this is I wanted RV gone in 2004. Took you slackers eleven years to catch on. Getting tired head from all this. Hope the boys play hard tomorrow and give something to be positive about.
