  1. A return game isn't a guarantee game.
  2. To say something. Anything.
  3. Pretty sure that year the victory against Boise was at Fouts. We beat them on the blue turf in '98.
  4. Again, Rome wasn't built ovenight but my top three things I'm looking for- 1) Red zone offense- Do we tighten up inside the red zone or look for opportunities down the field? 2) Third down conversions- Similar to above. Harrell has got to have plays to pick up third downs. Without looking at the numbers I'd say our percentage has been pretty abysmal the past five years. 3) How he incorporates the run and running backs into this offense. We have talent there. Use it. Hard to gauge the defense. But I hope we are aggressive. Edit- I looked at the numbers. For the last five years our third down % has been 33, 39, 47, 33, and 38. Downright ugly. Only in 2013 did we complete at a higher percentage than our opponent. Two years at 33%......horrible.
  5. Forty percent due to new excitement. Forty percent to see what Littrell has in-store. Twenty percent I have more time on my hands. Granted, we don't have all the pieces. Probably not even a lot of pieces. Ok, not very many pieces. But this still could be the start of something special.
  6. Ugh, even this thread is devolving into the same crap. On another note we sure like our ADs on the chunky side. :)
  7. I'm not saying whoever it is won't end up being a great hire but.... This whole thing has been a typical North Texas cluster%#+*. You don't make over-arching, grandstanding comments like that. Especially before the hire is announced. You just say "I think we've made a great hire" and leave it at that.
  8. I don't mind the colored fields. Actually like the out of the box thinking to do something different. But this- http://www.businessinsider.com/eastern-washington-has-the-ugliest-field-in-college-football-2012-12 I live in Big Sky country, every time they're on.....can't do it.
  9. Guess we should be glad our main color is green. Ever seen Eastern Washington's? It's almost unbearable.
  10. I wouldn't. In fact I'd question what my authority truly was and the changes I'd be able to make. What if the audit says the ticket manager and marketing (just an example) is great but the new AD already has other people in mind for that position? How does a business consultant know how an athletic department operates? Our athletic department doesn't even know how a good athletic department operates. That's why we are hiring somebody to come in and fix it. The only way this makes any sense if the audit is financial in nature. Otherwise it seems pointless to me. There's no way we are hiring a business consultant who is the son of one of our donors to come in and try to fix an athletic department. On the cheap no less. Trying to not get worked up over something that is probably nothing, but this whole thing is off to a lousy start in my opinion. Just make a good hire and let the man or woman do their job. This thing won't get fixed overnight.
  11. I was referring to the evaluation of current employees.
  12. Not to be picky but FIU has a bigger enrollment than us.
  13. Exactly However that didn't stop RV from pissing and moaning about it. He saw it as lack of institutional support meanwhile his hire of Benford costs at least tens of thousands in lost revenue. Probably more. It was a good tactic and worked for a while, pointing out and complaining about the small shit to deflect the fans from his failures at the big shit. Please o' please athletic gods, let us have a competent AD in my lifetime. Preferably now.
  14. And I know we are building (or built) a Bball practice facility to alleviate the practice issues but if I remember right it has no bathrooms/showers? I'm over everybody pointing at these insignificant issues for our failures when the problem all along has been the athletic department itself. If I am in the facilities department and saw what RV, Mac, and Benford are making along with their budget and looked at the results they were producing, I'd tell them to go jump in a lake too.
  15. How many winning programs get the level of fan support/contributions that we do? I bet that list is small.
  16. It's not designated an athletics facility. It probably doesn't get built if it had been. It's no different than one department charging another at any university or corporation. Doesn't even make the top 25 reasons of why our BBall teams stink.
  17. Call me crazy but isn't that the new ADs job?
  18. In my lifetime consultants have been a waste of money 86.4% of the time. And that percentage is about to rise.
  19. If I was the new AD I wouldn't do a single thing to get people to the games this year. We're going to be bad, instead I'd mingle and get to know the people that show up when we are horrible. As the team improves I'd implement some of the ideas listed. This thing needs to be grown over time, it won't happen overnight.
  20. I think you're on to something with this. Which is why I'm taking the over. Barely.
  21. Better than "Why not North Texas?" but you can do better.
  22. Can't GMG.com come up with a newer catch phrase then "Coach Littrell is our leader and will....."? Out with the old and in with the new. Every time I see that it makes me shake my head.
  23. Thanks. And thank you Mr. Ryan.
