  1. There isn't a bigger indictment of our program than we shouldn't play a very good team at home. Which is confusing because a few of you who think this were huge supporters of the person running the program and got us into this situation. You don't get to pick when you're going to be good. If a great team will come here then do it and let the chips fall where they may.
  2. Just curious, how's your squad looking this year? You got a tough start out of the gate. If our AD did that this board would meltdown. Edit- Just saw the UM game is at home. Big difference than those two on the road.
  3. They had good concession food and one helluva WR. Everything else about that game experience was pretty meh.
  4. If there's no one else there are you really embarrassed?
  5. I guess it was too difficult for you to read the man's comment.
  6. I blinked and he took the lead. Four within one shot.
  7. I wasn't trying to say that poll was valid, just that it doesn't take long to find an opposing viewpoint. Or a link to give credence to one's own opinion. I probably should've have made that more clear. And no, you aren't mistaken. Fifty plus days til kickoff.
  8. Rivals?!?!?! I still think we're a little behind in the building process but on the right track if we can get a few more playmakers on the team and better QB play. I wish CUSA would set it up so that we play the same team (as would every other conf member) every year at the end of the season. MUTS would play WKU, UAB would play USM and so on. If both teams are good and battling for the division, it could be a fun game. I'd make ours either UTSA or La Tech but that's me.
  9. Those are all good questions. I'd love to hear the answers straight from the horse's mouth.
  10. That's an opinion piece. I could post a link that shows opposite "facts." https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/10/13/heres-how-legal-pot-changed-colorado-and-washington/?utm_term=.8e520b2b10ae I could care less, I don't smoke the wacky tobacky. But the links she uses don't even back up her statements. In the link about school expulsions it says violent crime is down which contradicts her previous statement. It took me five seconds to find this poll of the people in Colorado not having buyer's remorse-http://www.denverpost.com/2016/09/20/legalize-marijuana-poll/ Good grief, a comment about a WR we don't even have interests in turns in to a debate using bs facts about pot. #Merica.
  11. Evan and I need a tailgate to crash. And I promise I'm only an AD-hatin', negative-Nancy lovin, mofo-contrarian on the board. I'm a peach in person. I can't vouch for Evan though, he's a loose cannon.
  12. No. If you aren't the second coming of Booger Kennedy, Mitch Maher, or Johnny Quinn I don't want you as a grad transfer. As David Wooderson would say (I'm paraphrasing here) "I'd rather go with youth."
  13. Two other things I noticed from that chart- UAB sold 45% more season tickets than we did in the year they decided to shut down the program. We need to hire the sales guy at FIU. 12K in 2013?! They only averaged 15K at the gate that year. So a lot of tickets aren't being used but they sure do sell a fair share.
  14. Considering RV and his staff bragged about any percentage increase in anything (a practice that WB has used at least once) if there would a been a big jump in season ticket sales under Dodge, RV would've flown a banner to tell us about it.
  15. Been following for 23 years and I can't even think of a player that's impacted attendance. Probably because we've never had a game-changer at quarterback. The only person I can say may have brought in people as a curiousity was T Dodge and look how that worked out. I do remember Spencer Stack's first start. I think there was 5k there.
  16. I didn't know Arizona was considered "local." The original point was that we should get more local players here to get more people to the game. It's never worked. I'm not saying family/friends don't attend games, I'm saying using recruiting as an attendance strategy is ludicrous. Get the best players we can. I don't care if that's Guyer or Permian or Yates.
  17. Those are much better reasons than the coach getting a pay raise. I have serious doubts about Fine though.
  18. Why does he need to do that? Because that's what the fans are hoping for? He'll get fired if he doesn't? The hoards of media covering UNT will demand more? Nothing will happen, we'll just have a pissed off message board. The trajectory doesn't always go up, by that line of thinking Mac should've had a better year after getting that raise but instead we nosedived the next year. Did anybody think this thing would turnaround in one year when Littrell got hired? I think expecting SL to get better as a coach and recruiter is reasonable but in my opinion his getting an offseason raise doesn't make this roster any better. Especially at the QB position. And for that reason, I'm trying to be a little more patient. If other people don't want to follow that line of thinking, so be it. I'd rather see someone show me how this team will be better because of on-field reasons rather than just expectations.
  19. I get that. No matter how they get here, local kids don't improve attendance.
  20. I agree. Never understood this line of thinking. We should recruit kids to improve attendance? (Facepalm)
  21. On another note, eventually we have to do this the right way. I don't think we can cut corners to success. The last two coaches had huge problems that were clear for everyone to see and the previous AD just let it slide. Dodge could recruit but his bringing along of defensive high school assistants doomed him to fail. Mac may have been a better X's and O's guy but didn't put in effort to recruit or require his staff to. Not to mention his failure to address the quarterback position. This has to be done the right way and if that means being more patient with Littrell and his staff, then it has to be done. Historically, most G5 turnarounds take time. People can point to the five wins last year or the bowl appearance but it my view we're not ANYWHERE close to being a consistent winner. We had two players on the All CUSA team last year and one was a punter. I'm not trying to be negative Nancy, I just think the expectations on the field this year should be tampered a little bit. Actually, a lot a bit. :) PJ Fleck had the highest rated recruiting class in the MAC after going 1-11. Wilson at UTSA had a great class after a 1-11 year. If programs had to wait until they started winning to get better recruits, they'd never start winning. And Littrell will be a better coach and his players will play better because he got a raise? The quarterback position gets better because of how much the coach makes? Like someone posted, we lost 5 out of our last 6 games. I guess people can expect all they want, when I look at this roster and how it finished last year, I don't see a huge improvement. Regardless of what the coach makes.
  22. I'm not concerned about the win total this year. My guess would be four wins unless a lot of players step up, including the quarterback. There still isn't quality at every position much less depth. If we have four wins and a few close losses followed up by a very good recruiting class, I'll take it. We've had below average recruiting classes for about five years now and how we expect that to turn into success is a mystery to me. Then again, maybe Littrell is more of a miracle worker than I think he is.
  23. By that measurement I could say Mac was so horrible he couldn't win a game with 5-7 talent.
  24. I've followed the Mean Green since '93 and no coach left the program in worse shape or had a worst season than Mac. Nothing any coach has done was as bad as Portland State. He's not only Top 5 but at least Top 3. Since Parker he's the worst.
  25. Let's hope history doesn't repeat, a la 1995.
