  1. True but this isn't a young team. By my count everyone but Darden is going into their third year here. I'm a little surprised more youngsters didn't make the two deep.
  2. I'm sticking with 38-27 and I'll be loudly and proudly singing the post game alma mater from my man cave bunker. Give the points and take the under. GMG!
  3. That's not Harry, it's an SMU fan's post. I'm not bagging on McClain but his shoes can be filled easily. He was amazing covering east to west but not great north to south and he could be a liability in coverage. To me this all comes down to our front seven playing better. That happens, and we win by ten.
  4. Somebody usually puts the link to the game on here the morning of the game. I watched last year through Facebook and the stream is not bad. The announcers aren't bad. The sideline reporter and the constant Facebook intrusions drove me crazy. Then again I ditched Facebook. Long story short, it's not a bad way to watch the game on the internet. Better than ESPN3 and missing large parts of games.
  5. Can I take Brandon Kennedy and Nick Zuniga instead? Then I'd say 12-2
  6. GIve me the green but I'd lean towards under. I still say 38-27, good guys.
  7. I could handle 13.2 yards per catch this year. He's also the got the best name to emphatically/phonetically say after a touchdown.
  8. I'm going with Cole Hedlund. Fingers crossed for a lot of PATs this year.
  9. Yep. Nine straight non-losing seasons. He's had only two losing seasons in his fourteen years. Not bad in the G5 world. Big Red was Big Dumb.
  10. Obviously I love the football ones but it's good to hear about our other student-athletes as well. It's not the reason I love soccer/football but it's one of the few sports where size isn't an impediment to greatness.
  11. From being a fan through the Dickey years, you don't become a power running team overnight. I would say it's easier to become a pass-oriented offense than a running offense. A good QB can make a pass offense go meanwhile it takes at least five good OL to get the running game going. If you think Dickey is a bad example, Saban lost to ULM while converting his team to a downhill running game. It doesn't happen overnight.
  12. Thanks for the info. I knew his hiring was close to the expansion, didn't know it was that close.
  13. My only disagreement is I'm pretty sure Benson made the decision to move the WAC to the twenty or so teams that forced the MWC teams to break away. Guess it's possible the future MWC teams voted for the expansion then changed their minds but to me the WAC expanding to that many teams was a bad decision. You could say the WAC was always a doomed ship but I'd say Benson had a big hand in running it into the ground.
  14. https://collegefootballnews.com/2018/08/smu-vs-north-texas-fearless-prediction-game-preview-2 I think there's a little less scoring. Mean Green 38 Popped Collars 27
  15. Wren needs to be prepared. The rest of us don't need to be stressing......yet.
  16. I'm not saying the people who advocated for Morris were wrong but we are in a WAY better position due to Fine playing his freshman year.
  17. Man, there's a lot of football to be played before this kind of scenario can be taken seriously
  18. I said once we started winning and the AD began making the right moves, I'd cease to care about uniforms and color hues.....but watching one of our grey-wearing boys dive into that end zone might make my head explode. (Deep breaths) Just win, baby.
  19. I know many on here like to treat the Sun Belt as a punching bag but they'll be just fine. I've think they've settled into their identity much better than the far-flung CUSA or AAC. Doesn't mean they have a higher profile or better programs, just saying they have found their footprint, especially after ditching NMSU and Idaho. Curious to what ArkStatefan thinks about the job Benson did.
  20. In theory I agree with you. But I doubt there is a coach out there who has had even minimum success that isn't compensated in this way. It's just the norm for college athletics. It's to the point where if you have a winning season, you are getting a raise/extension. Matt Campbell at Iowa State went 8-5 and got a huge new contract. Overall he's 11-14 in two years. It's a crazy business.
  21. I didn't say a whole season of this, I said come out super aggressive against SMU. It'd be nice if the Ponies looked up and saw they were down 14-20 points rather than us playing catch-up against them. Get the lead, get the crowd into it and run the ball down their throat in the fourth quarter.
  22. It's hard for a defense to consistently be greater than the sum of its parts. We need a few players to step up and be all conference performers. Especially in the front seven.
  23. In my twenty-five years of UNT fandom this might be the most attack-oriented offense we have ever had. The Dodge years could move the ball but we never had the quarterback/WRs combo that we have now. During that time, most of our game plans have revolved around playing the game close to the vest, letting the defense keep us in the game while taking well timed shots here and there. For the most part, especially in OOC games, it's never worked. I'm all for a balanced attack, especially over the long haul of the season but.... We should go right at SMU. We have an amazing QB and WRs. Use them soon and often. Mason makes a mistake? So be it, go right back at them. We should go into this game expecting to score fifty points. If we give up 35, who cares. I would say our WRs are so good we could keep an extra blocker to help protect and they could still get open. With this team, which I no longer consider young, we should go right at them. Use our strengths.
  24. That's actually a step up. 😀
