It's weird that as our recruiting has improved our team hasn't. One big issue is we don't have another Mason Fine. Seth's first recruiting class was not good overall but he did hit on the most important position, QB. So either the issues is coaching / player development or the players we got were not worthy of their recruiting status. I'd imagine it's some of both.

Technically, Women's Golf coach Michael Akers was the last hire before Wren took over. Not sure who made the call on that.

I disagree. To me it was aimed at those who wanted Seth fired after the SMU game or earlier in this season. They made other comments about being prepared for AAC that led me to believe they are ready to upgrade the head coaching spot.

Lots of good names in this thread. I trust that Wren has enough contacts to have a good idea why a coach may have succeeded or failed at a school and who would be a good fit for us. I believe we will have a lot of interested in the job. As others have said, keep a close eye on those who have worked with Wren before: Odom, Fuente, and any others.

I think they blew their opportunity years ago. The conference has been teetering for awhile and the winds of change appears to be toppling them over.

I disagree with this statement. Considering our location, facilities, academics, leadership, we would have been at or near the top of the list if they wanted schools in this part of the country.

Sounds like Traylor would rather not return to SMU. Maybe he'd like to follow in Hayden Fry's footsteps and show them what they missed from coaching in Denton.

I would be very interested and we would offer much more money for him and his staff. But he may not be interested in moving within the conference and go through a complete rebuilding. But it's definitely worth checking his interest.

I don't think Ref was bad but his 3-3-5 defense was not a good fit for us. It left us completely undersized on defense.

Don't worry about Average Joe fan. They won't be any happier with an interim head coach. Waiting till the end of the season won't change public opinion. For anyone claiming a lack of ambition from the school has not noted the salaries of our coaches and our facility upgrades. I agree with Wren that unless the head coach is having a huge negative impact on the kids on and off the field, it's probably best not to fire him.

I'm going to disagree with most of y'all. Seth needs to go but there's little to gain from doing it right now and a lot to loose. If the environment of the team off the field is still positive and kids are still performing well in practice and in the classroom, then why change now? You risk "losing" kids who have a strong connection with Seth and the school. I see no reason to remove Seth unless things change off the field. And if you think recruiting is tough now, it would be much tougher when you go months without a head coach. Also, firing Seth now wouldn't help the search for a new coach. Right now Wren can speak with agents and quietly do "background" work. I believe Wren knows enough people in the game that he can get information without things becoming public. No head coach we would want would publicly speak to us about coming here at this time. Unless things change toward the negative off the field, I wouldn't think of removing Seth until sometime in November or when the coaching search process cannot be kept out of the media any longer. This time frame may tick off some hot headed boosters but it would benefit the kids, the team, and the school overall.
