  1. "not necessarily bad"? Dodge? McCarney? Benford? His hires were one of the biggest issues. Let's not forget the scathing report made after he left which leaves to doubt he was in way over his head. The one thing that really sticks out in my mind is he had someone with NO ACCOUNTING DEGREE handing the millions of dollars in the AD budget. RV was awful.
  2. Two years ago today I posted images on Facebook of the "Fire Rick Villarreal" banner flying over Denton. I'm assuming the banner was actually flown on that same day. Two years later we have a division winning football team, a conference winning soccer team, a conference winning volleyball team, hope for both basketball teams as they start their seasons, a new soccer/track facility under construction, a IPF that's close to ground breaking, and an athletic department that is doing more than the AD staff has ever done at North Texas. I was a proud supporter of this banner. Perhaps from now on we should refer to November 12th as "Banner Day".
  3. The Chicago Cubs make it a big deal to have a big name guest to lead "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch. Perhaps we could do something similar by having a special guess lead the crowd in the North Texas chant at a specific time.
  4. I'm with BillySee that Seth needs another year to get the kind of job offer he would want. However, Karen Ashton is the cautionary example. After one sub .500 season at UNT she gets offered the Texas job. It only takes one school to fall in love with Seth and offer him a job he can't turn down.
  5. I'd make sure you let Baker know this. I'm sure they'll figure out this out but it never hurts to reinforce it.
  6. http://www.espn.com/college-football/team/_/id/349/army-black-knights They are 8-2 though their schedule isn't exactly a power house. The got blasted by Ohio St and lost a close one to Tulane. The beat UTEP 35-21 which was a lot like our game with UTEP: close at the half and then pull away. The difference is UTEP scored a late TD to make it look better. They pounded Rice 49-12 who we have not played yet. Just looking at their schedule I'm definitely not scared by them. If we don't bring our A game they could run us out of the building but I'd like to think we're better prepared for them this season.
  7. You cannot comprehend the power of Mississippi State to blow a game.
  8. They mentioned that we were going to the CUSA title game.
  9. UTSA's five wins have come against Baylor (1-9), Southern, Texas State (2-8), Rice (1-9) , and UTEP (0-10).
  10. ESPN just mentioned us going to the conference championship game during halftime of the Alabama - Miss St. game.
  11. If FIU loses tonight it won't clinch the Eastern Division for FAU but it will come as close as possible. If FAU were to lose to FIU next week I don't see them losing to Charlotte the following week.
  12. Agreed. If we can take the second half kickoff and score you may see them start to give a little.
  13. zzzzzzzz ... so far this is one boring game.
  14. You can watch the highlights here:
  15. You can watch the entire game here: http://conferenceusa.com/watch/?Archive=17412
  16. So was this a big win for us? I can't tell by everyone's understated responses. :)
  17. After reading through this thread the 2013 team is voted the winner and I agree. However, if 2017 has the ball late in the game with a chance to win, I wouldn't bet against Fine.
  18. I don't know of anyone who discounts for four Sun Belt titles. I do believe he would have been in the UNT HoF already if he had not made the awful decision with the black, high school type uniforms.
  19. NT WINS IN THE SHOOTOUT! On to the NCAA tourney.
  20. After two scoreless OT's, going to penalty kicks.
  21. 1st OT done, still scoreless.
