Winning the bowl wasn't the only goal. The team had several goals including going undefeated at home. Winning the bowl game is a goal the team can keep to the end of the season. I think it's as simple as that.
-
"FR" and "SO". It seemed that every player the broadcast talked about today had one of those two abbreviations following their name. So many of our key players still have two or three years remaining in their college careers. Today we lost to a senior heavy team that is at a peak in their cycle. We hopefully have two more years before we hit peak.
-
I'll always remember Jenkins as the guy who always seemed to be hyped and on the verge of getting a personal foul. Good times.
-
I like this idea.
-
I wouldn't say lucked. I'd say we had the better quarterback in many of those games and that's a big component. Having a tremendous kicker also helped. I'd say we maximized our results.
-
They were better this year but not good enough.
-
We really need improvement by the oline next season.
-
I think FAU is better. We should have stayed with Troy longer than we did and probably should have been ahead at the half. Troy also has a very senior heavy lineup which is a complete contrast to ours. This team of theirs is at a peak and should decline at least somewhat next season. Our arrow is still pointing up.
-
I think the key is they got the quarterback right. It also really helped to have a tremendous kicker.
-
We were 3-5 versus teams that finished above .500. We beat UAB, USM, and UTSA. We loss to SMU, Iowa, FAU twice, and Troy.
-
I believe they did a tremendous job getting this very young team to win as many games as they did this year. The key is the same as any staff ... can they recruit well enough to keep improving the talent.
-
I believe this staff got the most possible out of this team. We're still not as talented as many teams in the conference. Also, it seemed every time they talked about one of our players they would show his name and it would be followed by a "FR" or "SO". We're still an incredibly young team on the field.
-
On some of those plays Jenkins was left out to dry by the blitz not getting home. That receiver also made some tremendous catches that were undefendable. He may not have played great on many plays but he wasn't nearly as bad as what the stats show.

This staff is ours until WE want them gone

I agree with your fist paragraph. Troy is better than anyone in CUSA other than FAU. Add in that we didn't play well and Fine was pretty bad even before he got beat up and there's isn't not surprising that we lost. The positive is that whenever they talked about one of our players they would show their name and it would be followed by a "FR" or "SO". We are still an incredible young team and it shows. I'll give Jenkins a break this game. He would play off when we blitz ... and our blitz never seemed to put pressure on the QB leaving the corners out to dry. Often Jenkins had great coverage but #15 made some incredible catches that were really undefendable. -

Manvel is blowing out Angleton in the fourth quarter. Assuming they hold on they'll play the winner of Highland Park - Denton Ryan next week for a state championship. -
UNLV? Really?

Troy hasn't given up more than 25 pts in a game this season. The NT Daily guys said they believe UNT needs to score more than that to win and I agree. I think Troy is better than a normal Sun Belt champion and this will be a very tough game. We really need our offensive line to hold their own so Fine and our receivers have time. I'm predicting UNT wins 27-21. -
Yep. Ramsey's stats are very impressive.

That's what I was looking for. Thanks.

How much does a ticket cost to a Women's BBall game? It's been a long while since I've attended one. I'm thinking of taking my daughter and maybe a few others to the game on December 30th.

SMU at 19k seems very generous by all accounts.

Choice and Koonz make for a formidable recruiting tandem. If I was a player it would be hard to say no to them. -

I agree. Playing with better players *could* make a player look better than he actually is but that's hard to do with the quarterback position. Also, players become better when playing with better teammates. Iron sharpens iron. As an example, my daughter is a freshman in high school and playing a lot on the varsity of a 5A school. Her playing ability has improved tremendously during the season so far. That's partly due to playing against better opponents but maybe more so from playing and practicing with her varsity teammates. If Martin is playing with a lot of talented guys then that should make him a better player for it. I'll admit I had my doubts about not only Fine but the entire offense coming into the season. Fine greatly exceeded my expectations and we can feel good about having a quality quarterback for the next two seasons to come. In his very little playing time Shanbour has shown a little something-something and if he needed to fill in for a game I'd feel good about it. I'm really glad all of these quarterbacks coming in appear to have the talent to continue after Fine graduates but none of them have played a down of college football yet. For all their talents we have no idea if they have the leadership, mental ability, or quick decision making ability required to play at this level. However, I do feel good that of all these quality recruits at least one or two will turn out to be a quality starter and backups for us when Fine and Shanbour are gone. -

I believe the cold spells no only had to do with Mason but also with so many young players on offense. Getting the offense to be more consistent withing games will help out our defense as well.
