  1. My daughter's team actually is with Adidas.
  2. NCAA. They sponsor many of the big AAU tournaments so you have to sign up on their website. We played in some of those tournaments last year in Virginia. We moved back to Texas and last fall I had to send the NCAA a copy of our mortgage payment to prove that we lived in Texas. They didn't tell us this was needed until the last minute. Today my daughter was playing in another tournament and they could only see the old Virginia address on her NCAA profile even though it was obvious when I pulled it up. While at work I had to download and email them a copy of her report card to prove that she's in school in Texas. They didn't tell us this until two hours before the first game. Why does the NCAA care where you live or what team you play for? I don't know.
  3. You know how people always complain about the NCAA and how it goes about it's business? Last year we moved from Virginia back to Texas. My daughter is freshman in HIGH SCHOOL and already has had two issues with the NCAA because of the move. Yes, the NCAA is so badly run it affects a FRESHMAN IN HIGH SCHOOL. Ugh.
  4. NTSU ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
  5. I agree that he's not horrible but sometimes he does have trouble putting sentences together. I'd expect a writer with his experience to make fewer mistakes. Last year the sports writer for the NT Daily was a much better writer with much more interesting stories than Brett has ever done.
  6. That video is something you see often in younger levels of football. Players treat the ball like it's a punt. In 7th grade I recovered this type of "onside" kick.
  7. Yeah! Brett deserves a promotion ... somewhere far from Denton.
  8. Are you sure that was the spring game? Could have been their Homecoming game.
  9. Some tough choices on those lists.
  10. It seems that as a Benford recruit he wasn't a good fit for this offense. He probably wants to go somewhere he'll get more playing time.
  11. I'm not that worried about the overall athletic budget shortfall for two reasons. First, comparing large budgets can be like comparing apples to oranges. Each school will do things a little different (such as the stadium cost coming out of the athletic budget). It reminds me of people trying to compare the costs of new stadiums. One stadium might be $30 million more but because it also includes land and infrastructure costs the amount actually spent on the stadium is less. Secondly, I trust this administration to handle the budget properly. The way Smatresk handled the accounting fiasco that greeting his hiring tells me he would not be down for any kind of shady accounting practices or unsustainable budgets. Also, Baker has hired a very experienced staff to handle the athletic finances. Under RV that person did not even have an accounting degree.
  12. I'm a huge fan of Dr. Smatresk and hope he stays for a long time.
  13. Helmet stickers?
  14. I was there with two of my kids sitting behind the USF bench. Great crowd and a great atmosphere. We stayed for the entire net cutting because that doesn't happen very often. By the way, traffic on 35 from 121 was great. Didn't hit any traffic until we actually hit Denton.
  15. I've got three tickets for myself and two of my kids. It'll be the first UNT bball game for my kids.
  16. RV didn't know how to spell. Before anyone down votes me for this, it's a fact confirmed by people who worked with him.
  17. If Texas, Oklahoma, TCU, and Kansas leave the B12 then we could be in the running to move up to a B12 that's will be more on level with the AAC than a Power conference.
  18. UTA's AD seem to have very high expectations. He wants them to be the next Gonzaga but doesn't want to spend like Gonzaga. He seems like a complete idiot.
  19. That was more of the defense making a mistake than the kid making a play. Seems like confusion over who had outside contain.
  20. I don't know about that. Riley is so young he may be looking to move up to college coaching next.
  21. Congrats to him! He's a little young for the job, though.
  22. This. Until recently there was no central database for contacting alumni. I believe at for awhile athletics did not have permission to ask alumni for donations.
  23. Perhaps he had to put some money into the meter but couldn't find anyone to give him change for his dollar.
  24. Also, Bill Russell played there.
  25. It's great to see the team playing well. These extra games should pay dividends next season.
