RV would look for someone who's been a head coach before and he should have plenty of resumes to look at considering what we have returning and what we have coming in.

If we are already in then I'll be impressed that everyone involved kept it from being leaked.

I'd say good because they now have a chance to hire a real coach. Thomas was nothing more than a novelty that quickly wore off.

So Thomas says he's shocked because he's never been fired for "basketball" reasons. So the other three times he was fired in the NBA had nothing to do with the win/loss record. However, the thought that he WAS fired for basketball reasons at FIU may be incorrect. According to the ESPN article he was basically a part time head coach and a full time PR hire.

She did didn't have to say anything about RV. She went out of her way to say good things about RV. I believe they were genuine and makes me think RV has a lot of respect from the other AD's that he deals with.

I just watched the press conference and I got sad all over again. I think it's because Karen had that history here with being an assistant with Tina and knowing some of our former players. We're probably not going to have that again with a new coach. It's not a huge thing, though, and hopefully whoever we hire next will pick things up where Karen left off. During the press conference they did say that Texas did contact RV first before contacting Karen. They have very good things to say about RV.

I loved NCAA 04 ... I didn't like NCAA 05 so much and I haven't played it since. I've been waiting until the new stadium was put in so I will be buying this version.

It depends on your definition of "young and upcoming". I'll take one like Aston and JJ who both had some HC experience (JJ as a intrim) before coming here versues a Stephens or Dodge who had no college HC experience previous to NT. I'd like to shoot higher for someone without some skins on the wall. From the McCarney/Aston hirings, I think RV and our President are also shooting higher than before.

CRAP! If this happens, then congrats to Karen. I was really hoping she would have five years or so to really lay down a foundation before leaving. However, it's a great opportunity to find another quality coach who can continue the upward trend. It'll really stink for the girls on the team having to learn a third system in three years.

Let's not go with the "young, upcoming" coach again. We do a lot better hiring coaches who have had success at the college level already.

I would be surprised if a more experienced coach doesn't get that job but you never know.

I got the bidding up to $26.00. Someone has an autobid so I'm not sure how much it'll take to outbid them.

I don't know if we're waiting on the NCAA ... we are waiting on the details to be finalized and for the schools themselves to committ to the new conference. It would be a huge mess if they leaked who has been invited and then the merger failed to happen for some reason. The originally had a goal of the new conference being ready to go by May 1st. Originally I thought there was little chance they could hit this deadline and it would drag into late May or June. Now it sounds like they may be ready to launch before May 1st.
