The last 3 years of Winning Percentage of football at UNT and MTSU is: 63% & 47% respectfully. My thoughts are, "so what if MTSU has 17 returning lettermen." 1. DD is a better recruiter. UNT is deeper now than what we ever have been since DD's first year. 4 SBC Championships to 0 for MTSU. 2. I would go as far to say that AC & his Blue Raiders are barely 1-deep at MTSU. 3. I would say that our OL can push their DL around just about all day/night (those are some big OL guys we got)--kinda makes Joe Green look a little puney. 4. I would say our RB's are the best in the nation....Cobbs and Thomas are going to be any DB's nightmares. 5. Meager....one of the best HS QB's in the area and has an extra year of maturity because of Redshirting. 6. I would say our Defense in solid enough to stop MTSU. 7. I would say that this will be DD's best year for an offensive scheme on the field. How can you not be creative with the best two RB's in the nation? 8. Quinn and the other recievers are just plain FAST! UNT by 21

Well boys it is Football time ...... it is time for: 1. The Waaaaaaaa-bulance to show up for all the doom sayers & Whiners. 2. All those who can coach better on Sunday Morning than Saturday night. 3. All those who predict a mediocure season. 4. All those who still say MTSU and Troy are going to beat UNT. 5. All those who want to fire Coach DD after the first 4 games (again). 6. All the inside information everyone knows about trouble on the team. 7. All those who love the smell of freshly cut grass at Fouts Field. My predictions for this season: 1. Another SBC championship. 2. Confidence in the UNT Coaching staff to pull #1 off. 3. With 9 in the box, again, Thomas and Cobb still put up BIG numbers. If you do not think that we can beat MTSU, Troy and the other Belt teams then leave the coaching to those who have the CONFIDENCE to win these games. Like the majority of you I feel confident that Coach DD and his staff can beat all the SBC teams and 2/3 remaining OOC games.....we may have trouble with K-State .... to me that is a toss up. BELIEVE

New Orlean refugees in Baton Rouge
eulesseagle replied to eulesseagle's topic in Mean Green Football
got the information from a good freind of mine who works for one of the major banks around LSU....they are determining right now if they will be able to go to work tomorrow and Saturday. I am not there but he has always been upfront and honest about things in the past. -
Just got a phone call from a good buddy of mine in Baton Rouge. He said the refugee's are fighting, rioting and doing some car jacking in the city and around LSU. Anybody else heard anything more about this???

eulesseagle replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
OK.....I relent on playing the game this Saturday. Everything is pointing to LSU turning into a refugee camp for some of the victims of the hurricane. LSU has some class in opening up their campus to their Louisiana brothers and sisters. Cancel the game for this year. If by chance the game were immediately moved to a neutral site then I would be OK with all the monies made from this game including our take from the game going to the devistated people of New Orleans. -

I am sure that Baton Rouge, 80 miles away, did not get the brunt of the hurricane like New Orleans. What I have seen is that the storm headed North by North East after hitting New Orleans and not toward Baton Rouge. If the stadium at LSU is undamaged then let's play! Since UNT students are not known as rioters and rowdies, like our English cousins, then let some of the Baton Rouge P.D. and F.D. do their humanitarian work in N.O.. -

My point is that major college programs put in easy opponents in the OOC games to increase wins. Look what Texas A&M did last year: http://aggieathletics.com/teamstats.php?SID=MBB&YOS=2005 Schreiner, U of Ottawa, N.C. A&T, Trinity, UT-PB, Oakland, Prairie View, Alabama A&M, La-Monroe, Chicago State and Grambling.......this was the Aggies 2004-05 OOC......I am sure they filled the basketball arena with these schools. Major colleges use known lesser competition to increase wins......more wins.....better players......better players......well you know the rest. For some student who is 17, 18, 19 year old,who is first going to college, NC A&T might be a pretty exciting game. I was the same way when I first went to North Texas in 1966. -

This is just one example. -

Look at TCU's 2000-2http://gofrogs.collegesports.com/sports/m-baskbl/archive/100101aaa.html001 basketball schedule. do you see some cupcakes in this schedule?? I went to the DePaul game that was great....packed house and we almost pulled it out but we were ranked in the top 20 and consistanly winning over 20 games a year for about 2-4 years (off the top of my head). Look what we did under Jankovich Look what Trilli did for us Now look how Jones is building us up If it takes an easy OOC schedule to build a winning record then that is what we have to do......build a program like the majority of other successful programs. If you feel like the caliber of teams that are brought into the Super Pit do not meet your personal standards for going to a game then don't go to the game. I once went to an Ohio State vs. Coastal Carolina about 7 or 8 years ago. The place was PACKED. The fans up in Columbus, Ohio did not care who they were playing. They were supporting the team. -

Every school needs "cupcakes" on the schedule!! UNT was a "cupcake" school for many teams during the Coach Trilli era. You have to respect Coach Trilli getting us those games but look at the cost. 1. He fired just about all the players 2. Brought in predominately freshmen 3. Threw the freshmen to the top 25 teams in the nation 4. Player's quit the team 5. Loosing records 6. Team dissention 7. We did have a few more folks in the stands Look what Coach Jones has done: 1. In the process of rebuilding UNT BB 2. Takes time to rebuild when there is really no "steady" winning tradition 3. Rebuilding this year with some easy teams, some toss ups and some pretty touch opposition. Coach Tubbs, when he was at OU and TCU, scheduled "cupcakes" to get the winning records. Attendance figures seemed always high at those two schools. Continous Winning Records is the key. Coach Tubbs got his teams into the NCAA and NIT. Did everybody in the country know that Tubbs and other college coaches do the same thing??? If your answer is NO then you live under a rock. NTSU Coach Blakely (sp) did the same thing and he always had a full house to play in front of. Be optimistic on what Coach Jones is doing. That is why they call him Head Coach. -
2005-2006 Men's B-Ball schedule released
eulesseagle replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Personally I like the schedule because it will give the team a chance to play some easy teams and some tough teams. This should build the moral of the team and get their rhythm down to do well in conference play. This is nothing more than what all the other top teams do. They load their schedules with teams that they can win. UNT was the whipping post to many of those teams years past. This is a total divergence from Coach Trilli. I would much rather see us win against this type of competition than get blown out by playing the top teams in the nation. By the end of the year we will have a winning season which will increase the chances of Coach Jones bringing in more talented players. More talented players--more wins--more wins--better conference! Coach Jones is building a winning program at UNT and in my humble opinion let him do it the way it has been done in the past. He is a great asset the the University. -

you are correct......i copied it wrong......we lost 18-16 in 2001 to Troy

Got to agree that we need quality wins to advance our football program. This may be the year that we get at least two and possibly three wins in our OOC schedule. Since 2000 our OOC record is: 2000 score opponents record that year Lost to Baylor 20 - 7 (2-9) Lost to Tx Tech 13 - 7 (7-6) Lost to UNLV 38 - 0 (8-5) Lost to K-State 55-10 (11-3) Beat Samford 41-6 (4-7) **D-1AA 2001 Lost to TCU 19-5 (6-6) Lost to OU 37-10 (11-2) Lost to Tx Tech 42-14 (7-5) Beat Troy 18-16 (7-4) **D-1AA 2002 Lost to Texas 27-0 (11-2) Lost to Alabama 33-7 (10-3) Lost to TCU 16-10 (10-2) Lost to Ariz 14-9 (4-8) Beat Nichols St. 23-0 (7-4) **D-1AA Beat Cincinatti 24-19 (7-7) # New Orleans Bowl 2003 Lost to OU 37-3 (12-2) Beat Baylor 52-14 (3-9) Lost to Air Force 34-21 (7-5) Lost to Arkansas 31-7 (9-4) Beat Troy 21-0 (6-6) **D-1AA Lost to Memphis 27-17 (9-4) ##New Orleans Bowl 2004 Lost to Texas 65-0 (11-1) Lost to FAU 20-13 (9-3) Lost to Colorado 52-21 (8-5) Lost to Baylor 37-14 (3-8) Lost to S. Miss. 31-10 (7-5) ##New Orleans Bowl Looks like we could have won 6 more OOC games according the scores. 2005 I see 2 or 3 OOC wins this year!!

Unbelievable FB Season Ticket Prices For Recent NT
eulesseagle replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
A friend of mine in Columbus, Ohio said that the scalping prices for the Ohio State and Univ. Texas game are going for $3,400 a pair. UNT ticket prices are still inexpensive compared to other D-1 schools. -
Arkansas paper goes to bat for ASU's game in KC
eulesseagle replied to stebo's topic in Mean Green Football
SOUNDS LIKE A WIN-WIN SITUATION FOR ASU. 1. It is a home game that counts toward D-1 Games 2. $500,000 to play. not a bad deal. -
The sky ain't fallin' guys!!! Do you really think that UNT is going to replace Dr. Pohl with someone who is naive about athletics or who does not support the type of D-1 athletic program that, we as alum/students/avid UNT boosters, want in Denton, Texas???? NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO We will more than likely get someone of equal or greater value than Dr. Pohl, period!!!! Personally, I am not worried because UNT is not headed back toward D-1AA we are moving forward to winning more Sun Belt Conferences in all sports and moving up to a better conference affiliation. Who knows, the replacement may have a better inside track to the desires of all our aspirations. So chill out!!

Got to agree with Cerebus. Baylor and Texas Tech departing the Big 12.....lol. They would loose millions of bowl dollars and gate revenues annually and that is not a luxury that any athletic department could take much less the predictable decrease of donations from the alumni from these universities. If LaTech wants to keep in the WAC that is there own choosing with the gigantic travel expenses. Can you imagine sending all your mens and women's athletic teams (BB, FB, Swimming, Golf, Volleyball, Baseball, Softball and whatever else) to all these out of the way places in the WAC. If I were a student on one of the teams that would be great but as the AD to review the annual sport's budget that is nighmarish. Price of gas ain't comin' down lately. LaTech must spend more annually than UNT does every 2 or 3 years on travel. Those would be interesting numbers to compare. No wonder LaTech "has" to play so many high profile money game$ every year. At least RV gets an A+ for keeping UNT out of the WAC. There will be other opportunities in the near future for UNT to realign itself in a regional conference possibly with teams from Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana....and others.

this is just a bogus schedule......i thought the disclaimer at the bottom of the post would explain that.... just thought i would start another rumor..... lol
