Sophmore English Lit......to get extra credit to bring my grade up I asked for some extra work. I was to write a 5 page explanation of Billy Budd. I turned it in the day before the final like I was told to. The prof took one short glance (maybe 5-10 seconds) and said that this was the worst shi_ she had ever read. She told me I was going to make a "D" in the class. I asked her, "Do I have to take the final?" Then she said if I dont I will make an "F." I made a "D."

My question is: 1. How much recruiting does UNT do with H.S. / Prep School atheletes in their Junior year?? 2. How many TOP recruits, in their Jr/Sr., years do we go after to start the exposure process to UNT?? It would seem to me that the earlier we try to recruit TOP atheletes in their Junior or early Senior years the MORE of a positive impression we bring to them. This is not to mention having them make an early visit to our campus. Does anyone know????

MeanGreenSig--- All time UNT recored 53% DD record................44% DD 1998-2000..........32% DD 2001-2004..........72% That is DD building a program!!! Eagle-96 the original question was overall winning percentage....but....your point of OOC wins is well taken.....I too would like to see a better winning percentage on the OOC games but you can not deny that DD has improved UNT's winning percentage over the last 4 years despite out dismal OOC record against mostly Major D-1 BCS schools for athletic dollars which run our program......(my old English teachers would kill me on that run on sentence.)

Keith--- UNT's record is 37-46 with DD at the helm.....BUT......he took over from Matt Simon who had a terrible record and forced him to rebuild. Now, if you look at DD's record prior to winning the first SBC Championship and during our current run with the SBC Championships you will find this out: Prior to SBC Championships (1998 - 2000): 8 - 25 Our current run:..................(2001 - 2004): 29 - 21 You belate DD on his overall record but the facts show that he, his staff and the team has improved the record over the last 4 years. You can try to skew the numbers all you want but the fact remains that during all 4 years of winning the SBC we do have a winning record. By the end of this year we will have another winning record.

DD and his staff will find whatever "hidden" talent in his recruiting area just like he found a replacement for Cobbs in JT. FFR I know you will be one of the first to agree that this team has more depth, even as young as it is, than what we have had before. DD will find a way to win the SBC again. The OOC wins will come in time.

Chomp---- you make a good point BUT fail to address: 1. Would not firing DD after 4 SBC Championships look stupid amongst ALL college level programs including D-3 schools???????? 2. What major D-1 coach are you going to get for $200,000 per year???? 3. Solich was a product of Alumi pressure just like Wilingham at N.D. These programs have TONS of $$$$ from alums.....UNT may get in 10-15 years what these programs get in 1 year!!! There is no comparison!!! 4. Be patient....DD will get us to the next level.....besides he has done more at UNT than any other coach.

Dudes, We have had this same discussion for 5 straight years with the OOC games. You can not deny that DD has brought UNT to a higher status among the D-1 schools than when he first arrived!!! We are no longer between 100 - 117 in D-1 school before DD arrived. We are now in the middle of the pack!!! You can not deny that DD has won 4 straight SBC Championships!!! You wanted his head on a platter 4 years ago when we lost to UL-M. You wanted his head on a platter after just about every OOC game!!! What we have is 7 returning starters, 2 Freshmen QB's, more young depth than what we have ever had and a dedicated coach and staff!! We are now 1-2 when we have usually been 0-3. This get rid of DD talk just wears me out!!! All you guys who want to get rid of DD have NO solution and no IDEA how hard it is to get a D-1 coach to come to UNT for the paultry salary the BOR pays. Respect DD and the team for what they have done. It is still early in the season and UNT will get an unpresidented 5th SBC Championship at the end of the year.

Dude, Get a life....... K-State is just a tough team..... DD is doing well with our program......... K-State is a very good BCS team............. How much to buy out your contract to post on this board.........??

A co-worker told me that one of his family left Galveston yesterday. 10 hour drive from Galveston to Houston. 15 hour drive from Houston to Dallas. Now I understand that gas stations between Houston and Dallas are either out of gas or down to fumes.

In the past RV has posted a comment or two on this board. Perhaps in the future we can get DD/RF/JJ to post some post game comments on this board. Has anyone tried to contact them?? This is something that would be a BIG PLUS for this board. Naturally, most of us will be respective of their views and comments.....but.....there will always be a few that will use it as a time to be negative. In my humble opionion if the coaches agree to post we should act respective of their time to communicate with us. If this goes well it could be done on a regular basis. If we can get our coaches to come forward and do a few posts, I for one, will definitely respect their view points and comments!! How about the rest of you MEAN GREEN FANS??

Let's look at the positive side of DD: 1. He has gotten UNT 4 SBC Championships...3 more bowl games than any other UNT/NTSU/NTSC coach. 2. He has placed UNT in the top 10 polls of the non-BCS schools on more than two or three occasions. 3. He has gotten the UNT program back on track with a very respectful football program that has, probably& indirectly helped the BB program under JJ. 4. He has kept us ranked around the mid-tier of all D-1 schools instead of where the majority of the SBC schools are located (between 100 - 117 in the rankings) and by the way that is where UNT was not too long ago. 5. He does recruit well in Texas because of his raport with Texas coaches and now is reaching into Oklahoma for recruits because of his reputation. I would like to see us win more OOC games but that is the nature of the beast when you line up any given "Saturday night." DD is right for UNT and for all the alums that have seen coaches come and go DD is the right fit for UNT and will be able to take us to the next level. Be patient.

I think POPs falls in line with the majority of who post on the board!! *It is just one game. *DD has won 4 SBC championships. *What I understand from Harry et. al. is that this UNT team is one of the deepest in talent than what we have had in the past. *Our freshmen QB's will be improving.....if ya'll remember most of you were giving high kudos to the QB's. *Our entire team will be improving this season. *DD was classy enough to report to everyone that he was out coached. Happens to everyone. Look at the position that Stoops is in at OU. *Support DD & RF for what they have done to our athletic program even though they both came from SMU They have both brought a program that was one of the bottom feeders of D-1 to where we have been placed (like last week) in the Top 10 of Non BCS schools. THAT TAKES TALENT AND RECRUITING BY OUR COACHING STAFF!! *Support DD and all his coaching staff for what they have done and will do in the future. They will not let you down!! They will not let themselves down!!

If this is a game to get creative this is the time!! Tulsa had those little "pooch" kicks from what looked like the shotgun on 4th down. Heck, two times we did not have any receivers back. I believe on one of those Tulsa caught us for a safety on the next set of downs. Be creative with this game all we have to gain is EXPERIENCE!! Cobbs averaging 100+ yards a game in the first two games is good but we need to be a little more innovative/creative on the play calling to keep the D from stacking the line.

Are we going to be able to run the ball against K-State or do you think the coaching staff will put the ball up 20-30 times??
