nice web site FFR!!! -
Szatmary is just taking a CHEAP shot at the staff and RF. Maybe he needs to read the Albino Squirrel story!!! 1. Denton Ryan played the #1 ranked High School team in the nation and got beat badly. I am not real sure that the BEST OC/DC (Jr. High/H.S./J.C./College/Pro) in the country could have beat Carrol with that talent!!! 2. I am not real sure if Szatmary has ever coached....perhaps he can enlighten us if he could have done better against Carrol instead of critisizing and taking cheap shots at Ramon Flannigan!!! 3. UNT beat FIU by 3.......what is the comparison??? Is this a new writer for the Denton World Chronicle?? 4. There is no comparison!!
-
I kinda like the Albino Squirrel thread better than a rumor thread. Lifer--- Ya got some great points on other threads & I agree with most of them but getting rumors going between and against the BOR, RV, DD, The Team......????? Got to DISAGREE with you on this one buddy. Hope this thread disappears quickly. No offense.

The UNT White Squirrel makes just as much sense on this board as some of the topics....... 1. I would much rather have UP DATES & PICS on the squirrel instead of seeing another poll. A) Does the squirrel date?? or can an albino have an interacial relationship with grey (squirrel)??? anyone have any revealing pics??? What is the range of the UNT White Squirrel???? We need a tracking map!!! C) Has National Geographic been notified??? D) Has our Husbandry Dept been notified....maybe we can breed more of 'em?? (ooops that right we dont have a husbandry dept.....call Texas A&M)

ultimately, you pay the tuition for the prestige and starting salary.

First off...I support DD and what he and the staff have done but some of the other posters do not feel the same way as others who support The Coach. Ok............... You have a $220,000 (or so) base salary--not even the highest in the SBC. Remember that BCS schools pay about $750,000 to $1,000,000 base. who are you going to get??? Be specific if you can.

LACK OF FACILITIES, SORRY EXCUSE FOR LOSING.

ArkstateFan-- Thanks for the dates of everyone departing.....I was just going off my failing memory...... That is one thing I enjoy about this board......someone always has the names, dates and facts....... -
Blurb from football scoup, Neuheisel great coach

I think DD's base is $225,000 or so, give or take some change. Neuheisal....you think he would take $225k for another chance when he was making over $1,000,000 with incentives?? You are probably right.....unemployment and 2nd chances make you more humble. -

Rick--- You have to agree that UNT is still the "cream" of the SBC and still remains the team to beat even this year. Fouts is an old stadium with track & field facilities built into it & UNT is still the cream of the conference. Got to agree that other teams are improving rapidly BUT time will tell if they can keep up their winning programs or have cyclic programs. After Schellenberger (however you spell it) leaves what will happen to that program....will it go the way of NTSU when Fry departed? Something to ponder & I am sure this will cause a little firestorm but here goes: 1. Hindsight: Coach Fry should have never got us out of the MVC to go independent because I believe it caused animosity between the schools of the MVC which later became the Metro Conference and now is better known as C-USA. Coach Fry (hindsight again) should have had us into a conference before dropping out of the MVC and going independent. That is my "only" complaint against him and ultimately the Administration for doing it. -

GreenEddieNT-- Unfortunately, I am NOT on the "Get rid of DD Bandwagon." The reasons for that have been stated "um-teen times" on this board by me and others. I will agree with you that Neuhiesel will be a benefit to any program that he ends up. His base salary at Washington was $997,000. Unemployment may make him take less. What sort of pay cut do you think the prior Nebraska coach took when he got fired to go to the MAC ( cant remember if it was Ohio or Miami (OH))? -

Neuheisal was 33-14 at Colorado and 33-16 at Washington. When was the last time that Temple had a winning season??? 15-20 years ago??? I think there is a difference on a player/sports coach wagering on a different sport that what he coaches/plays vs. let us say someone who bets on the same sport they play/coach kind of like Pete Rose who bet on baseball and a few other sports. As far as turning the Temple program around???.........well, if some of the Florida schools can start a program from scratch or move up to D-1 in the last 3-4 years and have a successful program then Temple can be turned around. -
I can not remember who said, "IT AIN'T OVER UNTIL THE FAT LADY SINGS." (was it Motta when he coached the Mavericks Like many who support the program have said in the last 2 weeks, let us all wait until the end of the season to judge what has happened this year. I agree with this. For the last 3 or 4 years everyone goes through the Chicken Little attitude of the Sky is Falling.
-
RV, DD & RF have brought us a long way and have built the program..... We may not all agree on our OOC record and all the STATS that have been flying around lately but you have to admit that any one of the other SBC schools would like to say they have been to New Orleans just once. Look at the OOC records of all the other SBC schools. We are all in the same boat!! If you read the competitions boards -- UNT is still the team to beat. UNT is the cream of the SBC!! That may not mean a great deal to a lot of people because of our OOC record but all you have to do is read the sport pages of all the rags when UNT matches up against other SBC schools. BTW Harry....how is your aunt holding up?

UNTLIFER--- The teams EMOTION, BAD MOUTHING AND DISCIPLINE, in my opionion is the lack of SENIOR leadership on the team. Scott Hall was the leader on the team for the last 3 years. Has anyone heard of one of the seniors steping up for the leadership role. Usually that is the QB. DD is responsible for the game plan and adjustments. In the past he has had the ability to be myopic on his run...run...run offense. The last two games he has had to be a little more innovative in using the pass. Like I pointed out earlier the last two games about 45% of his plays were pass. Maybe we will see a metamorphasis of DD from now to the end of the year with more flexibility/innovation. The teams defeatist attitude...I have no contact with any of the players so I really dont know what is going on in their heads......But......the last 3 years and including this season we have been beaten by BCS teams by an average score of 39 to 8.
-
ntsumgspe- I am not advocating a coaching change. In my opinion DD has done a great job at UNT at rebuilding the program. Some say his OOC record is horrible.....agree......but look who we have played in the BCS programs in the last 3 years (1-11). Agree that we should have won more Mid-Major games during this same time frame you mention (1-7). I believe that DD is commited to this program and that he does not want to fail. Who does?? I support RV/DD/RF and what they have done. DD has been able to find the talent in Texas & Oklahoma that others overlook. He has a great reputation with the high school coaches, what I have heard, in Tx and Ok.. I would 120% agree that a new stadium would help our recruiting and possibly get us out of the SBC.....but until then Fouts will be the eye sore of I-35. I disagree with overloading our schedule with so many BCS schools. Bottom Line is that we DO NOT need a new coach. What we need is a new stadium.
-
UNTLIFER-- The facts that you have presented speak for themselves. It is ok to be ambigous with some of the writings to present OPEN OPINIONS but when you lay the "STATS" on the table then nobody can dispute evidence. Bottom line, again, is that we have got to win the OCC games, specifically, against other Mid-Major programs like ourselves.
-
UNTLIFER-- You make some excellent points but: 1. During this time we were 1-11 against BCS schools. It is difficult, but not impossilbe for Mid-Major programs to win against BCS schools like Tx, OU, K-State, Alabama, Texas Tech and Arkansas. I am in agreement we should have/could have won against Arizona. Naturally our loan win was against Baylor. 2. During this time we were 1-7 against other Mid-Major OOC programs. To me that is more disappointing than the loses against the BCS schools. We should have won at least 50% or more of those games. 3. We were 1-0 against the only D-1AA program we played, Nichols State. Granted, when we said goodby to the Southland Conference and got in the BWC it was a step up from where we were in D-1AA. The SBC was a step up from the BWC but now there is no BWC and the SBC holds the spot where the BWC was. We turned the WAC down for obvious reasons....the travel. Can you imagine how much LaTech doles out annually for all the men's and women's travel in the "World Athletic Conference?" California-Idaho-Hawaii.....If I was a student athelete at LaTech going to Hawaii would be cool once a year but the financial people must go nuts on the expenses and particularly now with the increase of fuel. That was an excellent move for UNT to turn that money trap down. Like I have said before UNT needs to schedule one money game, two Mid-Major games and one D-1AA game annually. We have too much of a dispairity on playing way too many BCS programs over Mid-Major programs. Bottom Line........got to win the OOC Mid-Major games!!! Bottom Line........got to keep winning in the SBC!!!!!!!!!!! This is going to be the ONLY way to get out of the SBC and into a better conference.

There was one guy in West Dorm, back in the 60's that was just obnoxious. We found out that he and his roommate were going home for the weekend & we were able to get into his room Friday night (back then you could use a knife to jimmy the door latch open) and left 10 chickens in his room. He got back Sunday night.
