ntsumck--- The apology is good enough for RF and SilverEagle. Enough said. I 100% agree that it would be a standing ovation in the stands if RF would personally go by and shake SilverEagle's hand on his way to the booth.
-
I would like to hear SilverEagles comments on this.
-
Lifer---- Not another get rid of DD post............ blah blah blah blah blah blah blah....... blah blah blah blah balh blah blah....... We have beat this subject into the ground and really do not see any reason to discuss this any more!!!! Sorry Lifer.....respect most of your posts and opinions but not this subject again.

Saying sorry I made a mistake goes a long way these days..... Just for the good of the program.............

Ramon Flanagan: TOO FAR THIS TIME
eulesseagle replied to 06WideOutsRideOut's topic in Mean Green Football
RF and Silver, IMHO, should find time to get together and shake hands and end this before it gets totally out of hand.....I could respect both men for doing this for the good of UNT!!! If it is not done then it is for the detriment of UNT and only for self gratification!! There is nothing wrong in saying, "I made a mistake will you forgive me." -
UNTFan23-- I appreciate your "subjective comments." Evidently we disagree on the raw numbers......how many new plays etc.....etc.... I for one do not want to see this RF thing get way out of hand...... Granted RF has no business doing what he did no matter what was directly stated to him......I hope that our posted alum is not going to file suit on RF and I hope each find time to get together and shake hands and put this behind them just as I would expect everyone else would do. Why make attorneys rich for self gratification. If we are ALL in this together then let us all act as a team and allow our fellow Mean Green Brothers to make occasional mistakes. We can show everyone on this board who reads these comments that we, as a group can band together and FORGIVE and FORGET pettiness. Like I said RF must be under incredible pressure to snap like that. Time to say I forgive ya and lets move on..........

This season IS NOT a failure. 1. If you look at our current record.......yes, I guess with only2 wins because of our high expectations all throughout the summer with everyone predicting loosing 1 or 2 games. 2. If you look at the development of our players........no it is not a failure. 3. If you look at the newer types of plays we have been running....no not a failure. 4. I think this year has been a wake up call to our coaching staff but I would not dare say they failed us. The coaching staff can not make our players jump off sides or commit other penalties on crucial downs. 5. This is not the time to be critical on DD because FB season is not over. I am anxious to see what the Mean Green will do for the remainder of the year. If they lay down and die for the last 3 games then that is coaching.....if they go out and give it 100% and grow that is coaching too. 6. Sorry that FFR got singled out with his son there......but now.....FFR will always be a UNT sports icon being associated with Tortilla-Gate.....lol. 7. Sorry that RF "lost it" with a fan, again. UNT does not need that type of behavior from anyone, especially a coach. I have heard some complimentary comments about him before and always held him in high esteem. The guy must be under incredible pressure to "snap" like that. We have all lost our cool at one time or another......believe me......I am not defending him......I have lost my cool too which has gotten me into trouble with my boss, my wife, my friends etc.. ----perhaps this is the time, now, to go on and bury the hatchet and shake hands with RF and at least say we have appreciated what he has done up to this point.

GangGreen--- You just mentioned the Catch-22 of DD. The majority of posters wanted to see innovation in play calling from the "almost" ever predictable DD and his staff. When the innovative plays happen and do not work then you blame DD. If they work then ..... wow..... Posters, all year, have been screaming for innovative plays. How about that on-side kick. DD did the onside kick against MTSU and it worked. It did not work against La-La. (50%). The Shotgun is becoming more popular & I for one am glad to see it incorporated in our scheme of plays. Too bad it has taken this long to see this good change. With our line still being stacked this should give us plenty of 1-1 coverage. I have not counted DD out. IMHO he is trying to become more innovative and trying to get away from the 3 yards and a cloud of dust plays.

let us not beat the OOC dead horse.....we all know how everyone feels and what our OOC record is. We all agree.
-
Tonyhuntoon-- 1. What I understand is that Cobbs and Thomas have been bothered by hamstrings etc during the season. I wonder if this is why they are both not in the game at the same time. Naturally, everyone's expectations was to have both in the same backfield with all of last year's OL. That would have been great. Appears DD has been hampered with two partially injured RBs, a Redshirt Frosh as QB, not a good OL and a porous DL. 2. I am in agreement with the majority of the posters of the OC's play calling/game plan. IMHO after a couple of games you would think that creative offensive adjustments(i.e. play calling/new plays) would HAVE to be made for the lack of defense. 3. Personally, I am chalking this year as a growing year for the team. Meager is getting better!! 4. Personally, I would like to see RF begin to develop with another college team after this season with UNT. This is not the first time that he has lost his temper with the fans. Did not he do something similar during the Tulsa game?? 5. Most of the OOC games were against Major BCS teams (Texas, Arkansas, Alabama, Oklahoma, K-State etc). However, we had the personnel to win most of the Mid-Major games. 6. I thought the onside kick was pretty cool. If it worked DD would have been a hero but it did not work. You do have to give DD credit for trying it early in the game. 7. I think next year we will see more of a balance offence than what we have ever seen under the DD era. DD is letting Meager pass more. We do have the wide receivers to compliment this. 8. Let us not pull the plug on DD. What we need are plays that compliment the players we have and not what we do not have.

Halftime incident w/the coaching staff

RF - classless act. -
Buff64--- Got to disagree with you on the stadium issue. First impressions are everything for a HS or JC recruit visiting UNT for the first time!! Fouts Field has served it purpose!! I have seen some great games there but there are HS stadiums that look better than what UNT has!! You mention that some Big 12 schools have not or some that have updated their current stadiums. What Big 12 school has temporary aluminum bleachers 50 yards (or so) from the back of the endzones?? Texas Tech had major construction to move the bleachers closer to the field and then lowered their playing field for better viewing. Granted, UNT could replicate that model but should we?? A new stadium would make a statement for the direction that UNT is headed in our athletic program. Our BB arena is still, IMHO, better than anything in the SBC and some WAC & MWC schools. It is time to make a statement on a new FB stadium NOW!!
-
Plumgreen--- I very much agree with what you are saying along with the majority of the posters. Not until there is another opening in a stronger conference UNT's ultimate goal is to win....win....win in all our D-1 sports, have stronger attendance and position ourselves for that invitation to a better conference affiliation. Begin construction of our new stadium is a must. Until then we are in the Dante's Inferno of the SBC. Therefore, lets take advantage of our current situation.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2212630 This is not only an issue with NMSU, now, but will become one with the NCAA and everyone else. Personally, the ACLU needs to be stopped!!
-
Personally, I really do not care (and I don't want to sound apathetic) who joins the SBC as long as UNT is still the "Cream of the Belt" and this conference is a stepping stone to a better conference affiliation. I would start a poll on who wants to remain in the SBC but I do not want to start a riot and 5,000 posts on recommendations for me to see a psychologist and donations for bus fare out of state. My concern along with everyone else is for UNT to excel, athletically, so that we can take the next step up in conference affiliation.

MeanGreen61- Excellent post.......... You must be retired to have that much time on your hand to get this post out

I knew I was too old to find another wife there when the students kept asking me, "are you looking for your grandson or grandaughter, sir??"
-
Navy, that is a class act. Kudos also to SMU for housing the Football team for a while. Kudos to LaTech for letting them play in Ruston. Kudos to Texas A&M for the BB support. Kudos to all the other NCAA institutions for allowing Tulane's students attend their schools either without charge or by letting them in with "in state tuition" including TCU. Makes you proud that you are an American.
-
Are you saying we are getting Luis M????
-
IMHO if I were one of the 50, or so, Mid Major D-1 coaches making about $225,000 (or so) per year I would want some of the $1,000,000+ per year salaries that the BCS elite are passing out with regularity.

Cajuns discuss possible CUSA opening
eulesseagle replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Shof---- My personal apology if I took your comment the wrong way. Rumors rub me the wrong way on this board and at work. Probably a good thing you are not coming to Denton for the Saturday game. Usually, driving back from a loss makes the drive soooo much longer. -
Cajuns discuss possible CUSA opening
eulesseagle replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Shof--- 1. My comment was not, "off the wall." There are and will be "rumors" floating around these boards that are NOT verified. You can take a look how we, at gomeangreen.com, regard rumors. 2. IF Tulane is thinking about dropping out of C-USA then I think people who should be in the know, like UNT's very own RV, may have heard "rumblings" through HIS pipeline of information (other BOR's & AD's at those institutions) and not so off the LaLa board or any other board!!! 3. Shof, meaning no disrespect, if you have some verifiable evidence as to what is happening please bring it forward and share it with us. 4. Please do not fault anyone on this board if they question rumors. 5. 6pm Saturday @ Fouts.......be there!! -

eulesseagle replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I feel positive that RV, et. al., are on top of this and gathering all there "ammo" for the battle to get us in "IF" this is taking place. Tulane may get an exemption until all is well again, who knows?? "IF" Tulane does drop out...................................................... Looks like it could come down to LaTech and UNT for that region "IF" Tulane drops out. IF IF IF IF IF IF -
In the Fort Worth Startlegram today Guy Morriss said, (and I paraphrase) "trying to keep a game close to win is like taking a shower with your sister." Makes you wonder how many showers DD took with his sister(s) (if any)???
