Fan19440-- Patterson is currently on a 3-year deal of (I saw the figure today in the Startlegram) of $2.6 or $2.7 million. I am guessing that with incentives he makes a little over $1,000,000 per year. DD's base is about $225,000....with incentives (i am guessing) a little less than $300,000 per year. IMHO, DD would like to move up to the next level of competition, especially the money!!!....heck anyone would like a $600,000 per year raise. At least Coach Dickey is expanding his repitoir of offensive plays this year. I think we have seen the beginning of the metomorphis of DD. Hopefully, it will continue and his philosophy will change from keeping it close to the 4th quarter so we have a chance to win to.........let's take charge of this game in the first quarter and kick their butts. -
You are all right!!! this is the most ACTIVE board for all colleges. Wow....all the comments that eminates from everyone.... UNT is nothing but a stepping stone to the bigger conferences, period. Comes back to the old question, "who ya goin get for $220K/year?? For UNT to get another BIG name coach...this is what will have to happen: 1. We get EXTREEEEEEMLY lucky like we did with Coach Fry. For UNT to move up in a better conference we will have to: 1. Keep putting more butts in the stands for ALL our athletic teams. 2. Keep winning in ALL sports.....FB is not the only game that conference committees look at in consideration for conference affiliations (some of you will disagree). 3. Upgrade facilities (like we are currently doing).....and get that NEW stadium built!!!!! 4. STOP posting that crap about firedd.com............geeezzzzzzz........dont you think that other conference officials read what we say????? 5. Since we dont know what politics are taking place behind the scenes we will just have to learn to be patient for the next big step....if and when it happens.....You can probably bet that RV and others are just as frustrated as we are and they are the ones on the front lines trying to get us in.

come on guys....you know DD would be the right fit at K-State: 1. He wins his conference games (26-0 at one point at UNT)....that is important in the Big-12. 2. His OOC record at UNT ain't that great BUT he will be playing easier OOC games at K-State. 3. His dad was the head coach at K-State. 4. He was a great QB at K-State. 5. He would take K-State to bowl games. 6. I would like to see DD get a promotion....he has paid in his dues at lesser programs(SMU) and with UNT he has definitely improved our program!! 7. DD is the type of guy that I would like to have a couple of beers with. 8. His players like him. 9. Up to this year DD brought UNT up as high as #60 in the ratings....he could get K-State into BCS contention to win the National Championship. 10. Nawwwww.....let us hope he stays.

I do not have the link but I have met several K-State alum and they all state that DD's dad was an icon and they all love DD when he was at K-State.

FLLANIGAN TO LEAVE NT, DON'T KNOW IF NOW
eulesseagle replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
Guys--- The rumors will end after the last game of the season is played....as it usually goes with most programs. I am sure that is when everyone will know if RF is going or staying. Naturally, if he does get accepted we will all wish him the best of luck. Until then ..... everything is rumor. -

Sam Houston State beat Missouri last night in the NIT.

Eagle 1855-- I, along with everyone else, agree with you onthe level of competition. However, we still have either a RS & True Frosh for a QB and not many of these excel their first year. The better QB's that we have had, in the past, started excelling in the Sophmore years...... I would like to see Phillips lead the team for the last 2 games. Sounds like he has the leadership we need at QB. I like the posts on his personal interaction with the team during the game.....that, to me, is important motivation factor!! Have a good day Eagle1855!!
-
UNTGirl and Eagle 1855-- My thesis was that, "not many freshmen QB's excell as freshmen" and not so much we were playing a horible team or he alsmost brought us back to victory.

It is NOT time to get rid of DD. 1. How many years does he have on his contract? 2. Does UNT have enough money to buy out his contract? 3. Like many of us have pointed out, "who ya goin' get for $225k? 4. I could see releasing DD if he only won 2 games next year and the following year. 5. All of our EXPECTATIONS were high this year!! 6. Most of the disenters have said DD runs a predictable offense.....well, take a look at the stats: DD & RF are passing more, doing on-side kicks (another one last Saturday...that worked) and running more diverse plays than running the ball up the middle. 7. You people who want to get rid of DD & RF take a look at the plays. 8. Got to agree with the poster who specifically pointed to TCU last year. They did not get rid of Patterson because they did not go to a bowl. Look at them THIS year (10-1). 9. I say....be patient this year and let DD show us what he has next year with a much improved team. 10. Our field general is a freshman!! Not many freshmen QB's excel their first year!!!....some of you will say, "yea they do!!"....ok....but few, very few and I mean very few!! 11. I am going to end by saying watch what you post because other conference committies may make some of their decisions by what is posted by some of you.

NeedCoach--- I do not for one minute support what you are doing with your b.s. web site. You do have the right to post.................................... I think you are one of the few "fringe elements" who post hyperbole for shock effect and not for the good of the university. Most of the loyal fans on this board support UNT athletics but may not agree 100% with everything but we all stand together in support of OUR teams/coaches (yes, including DD & RF).

PlummMeanGreen-- Got to agree with ya.....This is not the time to panic.....UNT still has to sell itself today, tomorrow, next week, next year to take the next step up in conference affiliation. UNT still has to sell the tickets and support the team. NeedCoach---- Man, that web site is way out of line. If anything what this team, including the coaching staff, needs is unity. If any of you are wondering I still support what the coaching staff is doing. I may not agree with the final scores this year. I do believe that this team has been plauged this year by penalties, injuries and inexperience. Let DD have this as a bad year. At least we have seen more innovative plays this year than in the past. Perhaps he is getting out of his cocoon and turning into a butterfly.

ElPasoEagle / Eagle1855 --- You nailed it buddy. Look at UTEP and SMU!!! Crappy teams getting into CUSA. We are having a bad year in FB but good attendance, our BB team is improving and one of the best recruiting classes in years but perhaps our BB attendance may improve this year....maybe this year will change, Women's BB looks good this year, Women's Soccer looks good again this year. Our BB facility is better than anything in the SBC, better than TCU, SMU, LaTech, Rice and other CUSA facilities. Hopefully, we should have a first class FB stadium in 2006 (sooner would be better) and hopefully one before the Rapture. It all makes sense to us but we do not know about the "politics" about getting in!! That will be left up to RV ,our trusty BOR and whatever support we get politically (govt., individual, etc).
-
Hedlund wants to get the best local kids in the area to play!!! It would be nice if we could get some of the best local kids in our area for our FB team!! My question is: Does RF, exclusively, go to the DFW area to recruit?? Who recruits the other areas of Texas?? Who recruits out of state??

Differences:?? Hitler: Looks like he took baths. Hitler really built some pretty neat turnpikes. The Germans had better sausage, pigs feet and after a couple of liters of beer even Eva Braun looks pretty good. Germany has seasons like winter, summer, fall and spring .... mountains, snow and lakes. Hussain: Looks like a vagabond. The best part of Hussain's roads were the signs that read, "Welcome to Iraq" in your rear view mirror. The Irais have plenty of beach, their baked camel and goat is yummy. Their women's names have so much gutteral sounds that loads of spit actually comes out of your mouth in the pronounciation. They really have neat seasons like 130 degrees during the day and 30 degrees at night 365 days a year.

Cooley-------- Dang, how long did it take you to put that together???? This post is a keeper for the hard drive. Thanks for the research. wow..................

Read it this morning but now can not find link..... Interesting.

To me, and correct me if I am wrong (which I have been corrected before), bowl games have lost their glamor only because about 1/2 the D-1 teams go. I really do not like to watch a couple of 6-5 teams play..... unless it is UNT in the NO bowl. Unless Hades freezes over will we ever see a true D-1 playoff system similar to D-1AA. Now that would be worth watching. The only positive is that the bowl teams do get a payout, win or loose.
