  1. chuck vigeant chuck@flexquarters-solutions.com www.godbc.com/services.htm just a suggestion
  2. Rudy-- I have been lol how I originally complimented the band at the game and how I thought they were doing a great job, not only playing but harrassing the opponents, and ya'll got off on the "bunny trail" really fast. I really do not care if we have to pay the band to show up it is worth it!! I just would like to see some of the frats show up and do as much as what the band does or some of the other little less know organizations have done in the past. As I recall West Dorm or one of the dorms would show up in their groups to heckle and cheer. Where are these groups??? One year a group of Oriental students would show up and heckle.....what made this entertaining was that they would chant....."Go Eagle Number One" .... I do not remember if they ever pluralized Eagle....I always thought that was pretty funny to listen to because it was so loud where I was seated. Student Organizations need to get more involved with the BB games this year!!
  3. What sort of TAILGATING will be going on before the ceremony???
  4. What is the breakdown on the number of JUCO vs. High School players we have signed?? How many scholarships do we have for this recruiting class?? Do you think DD is going to load up on JUCO's or High Schoolers?? How many Red Shirts do we expect to play next year and at what position??
  5. Not football but "AROUND THE HILLTOP" about 1/2 way down under UNH heading....sorry
  6. Look under football

  8. NTEagle-- Have you ever seen Rice Universities Band??? They show up on the field with their kids, pets and no uniforms and play.
  9. The band hackled the Nicholls State team throughout the game. I thought that was great!!! They kept the tunes going at the right time. The band and their unrelenting comments throughout the game really made the trip to Denton worth it. If none of you have gone to a BB game, yet, it is worth it just to listen to the Band.
  10. I think what made the Louisville (1970) game so memorable was that in the 1969 game Denny Crum, who coached Louisville, labeled NTSU as the "Worst Crowd in the Nation." NTSU had only one home court loss that year and it was to Louisville. In 1970, playing in the PIT, there were banners everywhere stating, "Worst Crowd in the Nation." The accoustics were so bad in the old PIT that when everyone in the "SOLD OUT" PIT were screaming and stomping their feet on the wooden bleachers it would, literally, make you go deaf. That same year, Cincinatti, who was also nationally ranked came in and NTSU jumped out to an early 20 - 25 point lead before 10 minutes in the first half. Students would throw rubber snakes and all sorts of stuff at the opponents on the bench and when they had time outs. It was absolutely CRAZY!! Students would yell at the top of our lungs, "Welcome to the Pit, Welcome to the Pit." Got to agree the Drake game that went to double OT was great. Drake got beat in the quarterfinals of the NCAA by UCLA. Drake had a GREAT TEAM. The DePaul game in the 80's, when Mark Aguire was playing was a great game, even though NTSU lost. The new pit was packed or almost packed and we had a chance to win against one of the best teams in the nation. NTSU's win over Texas A&M in 1967 was great because the Aggies won the SWC in 1966 and were suppose to repeat again and beat the crap out of NTSU. That same year NTSU lost to Uof Houston by 2, at the Hawaii Classic to the Elvin Hayes team that beat UCLA in Houston.

  12. Play some MAC teams like LaLa is doing next year!!
  13. I like the idea of them playing 2 MAC teams. I would like for UNT to start scheduling MAC teams
  14. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2251585 Using examples of the MWC....Interesting.... I would like to see a D-1A FB playoff system with ALL D-1A conferences included.
  15. Departed Las Colinas back to Fort Worth about 2pm...got home at 3:30. Very icy conditions over bridges and under bridges where water (ice) is forming. Glad I left early. I-35W, at 3:30 was a parking lot. good luck...it is sleeting now with accumulations.
  16. M.Scott-- There is no use being "subjective" if you can place "realistic" criteria on a problem. I do not believe that we can say, "fire DD" without agreeing what is expected of him & his coaching staff next year, in very realistic terms!! I think the realistic criteria of winning the SBC and winning 2 OOC games is viable for our current team and coaching staff. If the current coaching staff can not come up with appropriate "game plans" to win SBC and OOC games and be competitive then I guess I will have to stand in line to sign the petition to give DD his walking papers. One great line in, "The Hunt for Red October" the Admiral told the CIA agent aboard the carrier, "Hell son, even the Russians don't take a dump without a plan." Well, we need a plan and it ain't Charmin.
  17. Plum-- My requirements to keep DD are: 1. Must win the SBC. 2. Win at least two OOC games next year against UT, LaT, Tulsa or SMU. 3. Be competitive in ALL games and get away from his philosophy of keeping the game close in the 4th to win. I would like to see a new philosophy of, "we came here to kick your bu**!"
  18. Plum- Another good post. If I may let me ask you a couple of questions. 1. Knowing that DD will be at the "helm" at least 1 more year what would it take for you to reconsider keeping him through the 2008 season?? 2. If DD were not able to "right the ship" next year would you go after a "high profile" coach reguardless of his reputation? 3. 250 words or less
  19. One of my best friends lives next door to a sailor who was blown off the U.S.S. Arizona on the first blast. Really nice guy, very humble and patriotic.
  20. Green92-- Nice thought but DD will be our coach, at least, one more year unless something really unusual happens.
  21. SUMG-- You are correct, I do support DD and have during his tenure. Sometimes that has been difficult especially this year. I would like to take the time to rehash my opinions and what I percieved what happened but I refuse now because the topic has been run into the ground and we know where everyone on this board stands. What I posted was just facts and took the time to count the 43 D-1AA teams ahead of UNT to keep you from counting. Currently, my personal feeling is to give DD "one" more year to win the SBC. Yea, I am disappoined about the OOC games....don't want to rehash that either. Next year OOC is Texas (National Champs), SMU, LaTech and Tulsa. IMHO, we saw a metomorphisis this year of DD getting away from "Dickey Ball." If the coaching staff can not recruit some of the great talent we have in the state of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and elsewhere and can not formulate a winning game plan then we need to make changes!! IMHO, if DD can win the SBC and win just one of the OOC games and play the other OOC games respectable (not being blown out by 50 points), and seeing improvement in the teams talent then I would seriously consider keeping DD one more year after that. If I dont see any improvement then I would like RV and the BOR to give DD his walking papers. All you readers....please and I mean please dont let this post be another forum on bashing and supporting DD. I am responding to SUMG and my personal opionion. tkx scotty for your post
  22. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt05.htm 43 D-1AA schools better than UNT Look for UNT at #160
  23. Gamebreaker- 1. The sky aint falling, yet. 2. We have DD for, at least, one more year. We know he can turn the program around like he did 8 years ago. 3. The BOR is committed to keep us out of D-1AA(or lower) but in the SBC. 4. Read the SDSU article!! Now that is commitment!!!
  24. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2248784 Interesting aspects are brought out: 1. SDSU's belief that they can have a TOP 10 program. 2. SDSU's facilities are equal to or better than their peers. 3. SDSU's commitment to go after a TOP TIER coach. The most striking comment is made on the third to last paragraph. "In this position, you have to ultimately ask yourself the question of whether the person in charge could get you where you wanted to go. I think it was time for a change." Plum, I hope you do not salivate too much over the above quotation.
  25. Plum- As we all know nothing is going to happen this year to DD. BTW, has DD ever fired one of his coaches since he has been here?? (I do not know the answer to that) I believe the post that HUFF posted, in the last week (or so), indicated, if you read between the lines, that if DD has another season like this he is gone. I would HAVE to agree 100% along, hopefully, with EVERYONE else that it would be time. UNFORTUNATELY, Plum you have one more year of epipistles. Plum, as much as I enjoy reading your posts have you ever considered cutting and pasting some of your posts to see if anyone noticed?? hasta bro.
