Not a Negative post, but I'm concerned...

Well SE....the Dickies still have not won the Big 8, aka Big 12 but DD has won the SBC 4 times. What were the university father's thinking when they hired an OC with a 13-31-1 record from UTEP and SMU?? 1. What does that hint about his recruiting???? 2. What does that hint about his play calling?? Think about all the other coaches who applied and were turned down. Now after 8 years we are 39-55 and his trend is still in tact. 1. He still can not recruit.................................below average. 2. His play calling is abysmal...........................below average. 3. His P.R. is the pits.......................................below average. 4. His attitude toward OOC opponents is...........below average. Am I going to get season tickets.....sure, why not. It's cheaper than taking my wife on a date and a lot more fun....becuz get to watch FFR get arrested for terroristic acts against humanity with his WMD's....get to watch, faux, fist fights in the stands between RF and Ninja SE .... -
http://zipsnation.org//index.php?showtopic=2969 they are predicting hanging 40+ on UNT and us, maybe getting from 3-14.

Pollock-- Joke? sounds too country?....the more I think about it it was for 15 cents for an R.C. Cola and a Moon Pie. Distinguished Alums: 1. "Big Dog" Johnson who stabbed his granny becuz she burnt his fried chicken. Now the editor of the Fort Worth Star Telegram. 2. Howard "Weasel" Dean. Now on the speaker's tour touting his accomplishments during Watergate. 3. Billy Bob "50 dollars San Anatone 50 dollars dead and gone" Rodriguez. Enough said. Music Prof at SMU. 4. Jim "essay" Plum. Now the conservative editor of GMG: aka: plummeangreen. 5. Ali "reverse" Akbar. Played all his country records backwards and ended up getting his ex-wife, single wide and job back. Now owns two mobile home villages in Texarkana. yep the class of '66 was pretty good....... thanks for your interest Pollock.

Gatesville State School....GED.....1966 Youthful indiscretions led me to a life of crime at a young age. I am sure ya'll feel my pain. Stabbed a gas station attendant because he would not give me 10 cents for a coke. I wanted to get an art degree because I was pretty good doing tatoos at Gatesville and and at pop's tatoo parlor and beer joint before I got incarcerated for 3 years. Anyway, I did get a minor in art and gave some nice young ladies, in my art classes, some pretty neat tatoos, after hours. Got caught by one of my profs giving a lady a tatoo during class....it was an ongoing project. That is my story where I graduated and why.

If any member in the SBC had a chance to jump to the MAC, WAC or CUSA would they? or would they have the loyalty to stay in the SBC? I say if any member of the SBC had chance to jump they would do it in a New York minute without thinking twice or asking permission from the other schools. Until Prince Charming comes along with the "glass slipper" then UNT along with the other "hillbilly" members of the SBC just have to wait, like "wall flowers," to be asked to dance. Until then we will all have to go to the "Sadie Hawkins" dance instead of the "big" ball.

Is The Direction of MG Football Today Better

VideoEagle-- I appreciate your comments about the Saragin Poll.....but where would you rank UNT after last year in D-1A?? If Saragin is a subjective poll and is subjectively fair to all schools then it is hard to imagine UNT is above a ranking of 100 for all D-1A schools. You will also have to admit that after last year UNT could not beat a bunch of D-1AA schools, right? With that in mind what sort of VideoEagle Poll would you place UNT in all of D-1A schools and where would you put them if you included D-1A and D-1AA schools??? My point, again, is that UNT hired DD with a 13-31-1 record as an OC (UTEP & SMU). Was this the "best" that the university fathers could come up with?? Evidently, DD could not recruit there and still can not recruit here thus placing UNT in the position where we are now. He got a position of one of 117 D-1A schools with less than a mediocure record as an OC (39% winning percentage). I just think it is time to get a creative coach in here that can put together game plans with the philosophy that we can win every game......that can be competitive in recruiting......a PR man on campus, community and around the state (even if it means speaking to small crowds of alum in any part of the state). My expectations: win 2 OOC games, run the belt and beat the #4 CUSA team in the NOB. -

UNT is curretnly ranked #161 in the Saragin Poll at the end of last season. I believe the highest we have been in that poll was #65 (or so) under DD a couple of years ago. Under Coach Fry we were ranked in the top 25. Under Coach Nelson, in D-1AA, we were ranked #1 for a period of time. Can you imagine how many D-1A teams we were ahead of during those years?? Appalachian State, who won the D-1AA Championship is ranked #69 in the Saragin Poll. That puts them ahead of 48 other D-1A teams. Of course the direction of MG football is better today .... only because it can not get much worse. A friend of mine once said, " I am so far down that I have to look up to see how far down I am." DD as OC at UTEP (1994-1996) was 7-26-1 and 6-5 at SMU (6-5) = 13-31-1 (29%) DD as HC at UNT is 39-55..................... DD as OC and HC is 52-86-1 (37%) DD is known for "DD Ball".....nothing too creative because, if I am not mistaken, he once said that he did not believe that his team could comprehend complex formations/plays. Coach Fry believed just the opposite. I really do not think that DD has the ability to put together a staff who knows how to put together a creative game plan to win much less recruit. The Fort Worth Star Telegram, almost daily, has the list of recruits who are committing to specific football programs before they graduate.....nothing about UNT. What this tells me is that someone is out their recruiting and getting a jump on everyone else.........including UNT. I am ready for the DD "error" to be over. -

Revisiting the '68 NT-Arkansas game!
eulesseagle replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
In all honesty to Rod Rust.....the man had some personal trouble the last year and a half at NTSU. 1. His son gets picked up and thrown in jail for dope.....just a reminder, dope penalties were much harsher than what they are now. I remember that one joint could land you 2 to life in "prison" (that is Huntsville State Pen) in the late 60's. 2. His wife dies. Coach Rust was handed a phenominal team from Coach Mitchell. Will have to agree, the man could not recruit.....and look what he had to build on!! Some of you say, "winning will bring in the better players." Rust is another example that having the likes of Ramsey, Greene, Shanklin, Cedrick Hardman etc....and he could not recruit from this fantastic base!!! -

untbowler--- you will have to agree that the offensive play calling changed from the first half to the last half of the season last year. I saw a dramatic change from the last 7 1/2 years of 2 yards and a cloud of dust up the middle. For those who watched the spring practice.......did you notice of the offensive play calling opening up?? What is posted on this board between now and the first game will be all symatics on the play calling and how games will be managed. My main concern will be if DD, et al, will implement an offense complimentary of the talent that he has instead of what he wants it to be. ___________________________________________________ On a side note, it would truely be professional of everyone to use your UNT education to use words other than playground "slang" curse words on this board.
-
Why worry about it now?? 1. UNT has a new DC with a new scheme. 2. DD/RF are implementing new offensive plays. 3. 3 good QB's. 4. Good OOC opponents that will give us a chance to win providing #1 & #2 work. ---------------------------------------- We should know how the season will turn out by the end of September. Win 2 OOC games, run the belt and beat the #4 CUSA team....those are my expectations!!

http://oregonstate.edu/dept/ncs/newsarch/2...eerleading.html maybe we should give these people more respect when we see 'em on the field of play.

I am glad to see we are going to start competition with the MAC.

Hey guys--- dont brokeback mountain each other so much...... 1. it was the fault of the university fathers that bent us over. 2. it was the university fathers that took us from independent to D-1AA 3. it was coach nelson that did more with less at NT in D-1AA than any other coach. 4. it was the university fathers that brought us out of D-1AA as an independent. 5. the "only" available conference that would accept us was the BWC. 6. the BWC disolves and the "only" conference available was the SBC. 7. NT has been rejected from CUSA once (maybe more). 8. NT rejected joining the WAC. 9. face it.......as Commander Cody once said, "stuck in the ozone again." 10. Since the mid-60's I really can not remember NT putting any $$ into athletics (other than "Jitter Nolan") who had the new Pit built. NT has been, pretty much, on the bottom rung of the ladder in coach's salary, budget, facilities, you name it the university fathers keeps the athletic $$$ strings held tight. IMHO, they do "just enough" to keep a program going.......and that is it!!!! NT has never paid a coach what other coaches, in similar situations, get!!! What does that tell you of the committment of NT since the mid-60's. GreyEagle may confirm this since he has been around since the first game was held where the university library stands. If you look close that is him front row center on the three-row bleacher. 11. IMHO, whatever NT does (or will do) it will be on a "shoestring" budget. Case in point.......i have seen pictures of the new stadium (i hope i spell CHEEEEEZEEEE correctly!!)......( for those of you who remember in the new pit the color of the original seats..."burnt orange" because they were cheaper and they were CHEEEEEEZEEEE. at that time it was like putting a hyundai engine in a mercedes. 12. IMHO, again, RV's hands are tied by the university fathers whose main intent is to build ...... at first TCOM and now UNT-Dallas. As long as the university fathers are building campus' then forget about a new CHEEEEEEEZEEEE stadium and building a championship golf course where the land was just donated to us. UNT might as well raise sheep for an "ag-exemption" and save a few bucks on taxes. 13. well, it's time for my labotomy......i meant a bottle in front of me.

http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/5458896 Very Interesting......applies for BB and FB!! Naturally, this involves committment and not what the university fathers are doing to us, IMHO.
