This came from page 8D in the "IN MY OPINION" section: Through three weeks, non-Bowl Championship Series teams have a 9-63 (14%) record in games with teams from the BCS conferences. With Saturday's Southern Illinois victory over Indiana, Division 1-AA teams are 5-49 (10%) against 1-A teams this season. Last season 1-AA teams had two victories against 1-A foes. (I believe the difference this season is the scheduling of the 12th game) Under Darrell "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey UNT is 2-25 (8%) against BCS school in 8 years and 3 games. These are wins against Texas Tech and Baylor. You can see that his performance against BCS schools almost fits the "norm" for wins. Without looking at any stats over the last 8 or 9 years I would venture to guess this is probably close to the national norm. If DD had ONLY "one more win" against BCS schools then it would be "in line" with the national average for this year.

Unfortuantely, IMHO, UNT has Darrell "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey until his contract runs out. How much retirement will he have after 11 years??

http://tulsa.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=584266 This about sums up Darrell "Keep 8 in the Box" Dickey's philosophy. In his 9th season you would think he could come up with something different.

As for one alumi I am sort of tired of Darrell "keep 8 in the Box" Dickey's play calling and strategy. No adjustments throughout the game. He is still trying to keep the game close to the 4th Quarter except this time Darrell "keep 8 in the Box" Dickey GAVE UP and put Meager in. Darrell "keep 8 in the Box" Dickey basically told me that he ran out of "GAME PLAN OPTIONS" by the 4th quater and decided to lay down and die. Other coaches reach deep down inside to mount a "COMEBACK" but not for Darrell "keep 8 in the Box" Dickey. NT plays Akron next week and Akron knows what it is like to mount a comeback against North Carolina State University, for one. Do you think they are going to give up????? NT has better football talent than what Darrell "keep 8 in the Box" Dickey gives them credit for. We have JT in the backfield which given 1/2 a chance can bust some yards but not with "8 IN THE BOX." NT has some great recievers but why throw when you can run into "8 IN THE BOX." NT appears to have a solid defense this year but they get over shadowed when the offense only get less than 90 yards per game in two of the three games this year by having the HC and OC plan 40 some odd runs between the tackles and 11 some odd plays through the air. I was truely optimistic this year with the excitment of having WW play and the somewhat promise that Darrell "keep 8 in the Box" Dickey would OPEN the OFFENSE up. If this 75% running between the tackles and his infamous 3rd down draws continue then I have no hope for the talent that NT has on "O" & "D" for us to even get to 3 or 4 wins (maybe). With this execution of game planning NT may only have wins against either FAU or FIU and we can look for UNT in ESPN's Bottom 10 and have a reputation like Buffalo. Like I said before.....by the end of September we, as alum, should know where our program is headed.

All I can say is that I am DISAPPOINTED with the coaching performance of Darrell "keep 8 in the Box" Dickey. IMHO I thought he and RF learned something from the SMU game but did not carry over to the Tulsa game. Is this the second game where Darrell "keep 8 in the Box" Dickey produced less than 100 yards of TOTAL OFFENSE this year??? You think Akron knows how to play "8 in the Box?" You think Akron will be ready for: 1st down: slant left or right off tackle. 3rd and 5 yards through 10 yards......DRAW PLAY.

UNT at TU 8 -
Today was the first day I stumbled onto the other board of the Mean Green. That board is so full of negativity I do not think my "Ying & Yang" will ever be in harmony again. I appreciated the comments of UNTLifer on the other board. If I were that discontent with life and the state of affairs at UNT I would just shoot myself. I may not agree with everything that has happened at NTSU/UNT since I have been here but geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz....those guys are brutal.... All I can say they are entertaining......negativity breads negativity.

MTSU is ranked #111 by Saragin and Tennessee Tech is ranked #217 by Saragin. 44-0!!, I would not expect anything less out of MTSU. Saragin only ranks 241 schools. http://www.dnj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?A.../609150304/1006

We will know what we have at the end of September. 1. Depending who you talk to on this forum we expected a loose, lose or loss to Texas. 2. We were all doubtfull about SMU because how they ended the 2005 season. 3. Tulsa, last year, showed us how to play football and DD showed us how he could keep 8 TU defenders in the box. 4. Akron won the MAC last year and beat N.C. State this year in a fantastic comeback. 5. MUTS......well, we have always had their number. Personally, after watching the SMU game I did see vast improvements in the NT offensive play calling by running wide and some excellent pass and catch. Our "D" looked pretty good too.......remember last year how pourous the "D" was?? Appears penalties are down too from last year. Also appeared that the entire team got "JAZZED" (yea, i like the "A" Team Reruns) how we were really moving the ball around....(outside, inside & over the top) scoring and defending. IMHO & FWIW (yea, I read all of PMG's posts where I picked up the FWIW) I believe we can give Tulsa and Akron a good game providing that DD and Company can put together a game plan similar to the SMU game. If DD, et al, can do that then DD has reinvented himself in his 9th season. If not then the members of this forum will self destruct just like the "Pony board" is doing.....those folks on the hilltop are totally "freaked out." If the Ponies lose to SHSU Saturday get to P.B.'s house in Highland Park pronto for the garage sale Sunday morning.
