  1. I hope SMU goes 10-2
  2. Ok I will bite on my predictions: MTSU............win.........35-17 FIU...............win.........27-24 ASU..............win.........31-17 TSU..............win.........26-20 OT LaTech..........Loss.......40-24 LaLa.............win..........24-17 FAU..............win..........42-14 LaMo............win...........27-24 8-4 Play SMU in the N.O. bowl and beat them again for a 9-4 record..... As a result....RV is hired by Notre Dame and DD is promoted to A.D. with a 10-year extention and he names RF as H.C.
  3. JayDub-- Unfortunately there is nothing that anyone on the GMG board can do to change the attitude of the current administration. Only the BOR can make the change. Unfortunately, the BOR views the football team as ENTERTAINMENT only therefore they really do not care about the direction of the team if we win or lose. Until the BOR changes their attitude in the direction we are headed (and we can not get too much lower in the D-1A standings) then we are at the mercies of individuals who have NO interest in athletics. IMHO, RV is doing everything he can to improve our situation but the BOR is the final ruling authority. RV's only defense is the Nurenburg Defense, "I was only following orders." If the BOR wants to keep the "STATUS QUO" of having Darrell "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey for (THEIR) H.C. then that is their "Final Answer." Some memorable quotes from last night are: 1. "The light you see at the end of the tunnel is the ship burning and about ready to go down."(paraphrase) 2. "You know things are bad when when you see a lot of positives in a 20 point loss." (paraphrase) DD has to know that he is the luckiest D-1A coach in college football today because who else could keep this type of job with this type of performance. 1. OK....he did play some horendous OOC BCS teams in the past which we had no chance of winning.....BUT.....DD should have been more competitive in our OOC games against MID-MAJORS!! 2. DD has had a reputation of "poor me" and the situation I am in. 3. DD is now saying that I was "UNPREPARED" for the teams that I played. 4. DD is now blaming his loses on the performance of total team performance when he and his staff are to teach the fundamentals and get the team prepared to "COMPETE" for EVERY GAME!! 5. DD has shown all of us how "UNFLEXIBLE" he is with doing the "same thing" over and over and over and still NOT have sucess. IMHO, I would think that a little light bulb would come on after 8 1/2 years and say...."hummmmmm, something aint workin' maybe I should try something different......kinda like someone who is winning..........nawwwwwww......I just know what I am doing will work. IMHO, again, WW is so talented that he alone may pull out a SBC title if he continues to play the way he does. Man, I am really glad that we have this young man as our QB. Last year UNT was within, at least one touchdown, in each of the SBC games we played in winning the SBC and we won 2 SBC games. This year, we have a much improved team with a dynamic QB and a staff that is beginning to show signs of opening up the offence. I believe we run the table on the SBC this year and may have a chance of beating LaTech.
  4. Do not laugh.......... Seriously............... UNT is now 1-3 with the only win against SMU. You have got to admit that there was a game plan against SMU and appeared to be one against Akron. This is the first time that I remember that Darrell "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey and Ramon "I can count all my plays on my digits" Flannigan pass and ran an equal number of times. Here is my point: 1. WW is definitely the leader of the offense and can definitely make things happen on the field .... this guy is good....real good.....runs.....throws.....spreads things out. Can you imagine where UNT would be if DD/RF did not have WW?? 2. The UNT "D" appeared to have gotten a little better in the second half of the Akron game after giving up just really big chuncks of yardage every time their "O" touched the ball. UNT did hold Akron to "ZIP" in the second half. 3. The SBC appears to be appallingly "weak" again this year. If DD/RF can put together the same types of plans against the SBC as they did against SMU and Akron then I predict we not only win the SBC but run the SBC. However, if DD/RF backslide into their old ways of run-run-run we then lose 2 SBC games and end up in 3rd place. 4. Whenever we see D.Meager come in DD/RF have done the "secret signal" to everyone that they have given up and will not even attempt a comeback or try to put more points on the board.
  5. Ten years from now when Coach Dickey is our Athletic Director this game will still be 33-13 and nobody will remember anything about the game.
  6. OU is taking it out on MTSU........ From ESPN http://sports-ak.espn.go.com/ncf/scoreboar...seasonYear=2006 3rd and 7 for Akron at 15........... incomplete............4th down and Akron will have to punt for the first time tonigt
  7. end of the 3rd Quarter......... 15 yard UNT penalty put it 1st and 25 and after 3 runs.....UNT will have to kick
  8. 33=13 akron leading after UNT failed on 2 pt conversion onside kick recovered by UNT at midfield
  9. Less than 3 min remaining in 3rd quarter and DD is still running the ball..... when they throw it is just "short" passes to the flats....... hardly anything downfield wow.........DD is going for it on 4th and 9 1st down at Akron 38
  10. So far 24 rushes for 137 yards.
  11. JT.......12 carries.......79 yards.... from espn around the belt http://sports-ak.espn.go.com/ncf/scoreboar...seasonYear=2006
  12. 24 yard Akron Field goal........... WIDE RIGHT........AKRON 33......north texas state 7
  13. Akron at UNT 6 getting ready to score.........again
  14. Listening to the game on 100.7 FM (Dallas).... My observation is that WW is making things happen offensively for UNT. The other QB's that we have could not do what WW has done!! Akron, appears, to do whatever they want with the UNT "D" in BIG yards up the middle, to the left, to the right and over the top. The UNT "D" CAN NOT STOP the ZIP's "O." Akron has not punted tonight.

  16. Talon90 is correct as some of us have started to realize. Until the BOR changes its attitude toward UNT athletics we have Darrell "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey until his contract expires. The BOR, ONLY, has two options toward athletics: 1. Use it for ENTERTAINMENT purposes only .... then who in majority cares what happens to our program. 2. Use it to gain NATIONAL exposure .... then make appropriate financial outlays to get a coach that will turn the program around. Until the BOR makes a "majority decision" we will have to enjoy.....what Clayton Williams once said about the fog......"if you can not do anything about it you just might as well sit back and enjoy it." Enjoy the fog until it lifts.......or as a couple 'ol 60's hippies (S.E. & PMG) once said in their tie dye t-shirts, long beards/hair and Uncle Ho Chi Mihn sandals once said, "Onward Thru the Fog."
  17. That is why they call him, Darrell "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey and his trusty sidekick, Ramon "I Can Count All the Plays On My Digits" Flannigan. These two masked riders of the northern plains will figure out a way to run between the tackles on 8 & 9 men fronts to pound out wins just like the good 'ol days.

  19. PMG-- Why have the expense of building a new stadium?? Why not improve on Fouts Field by moving the seats closer to the field, lower the playing field about 20 or so feet and add another 10,000 seats. That would be, IMHO, more cost effective than trying to raise money for another stadium. Look what Texas Tech did.
  20. LongJim-- ok ..... he refered it to rape and the fog......that is why he was not elected and why we got the female for the governor.
  21. Firing Coach Dickey is NOT our decision!! Unfortunately it is up to the BOR's philosophy of athletics at UNT.... There are only two possible options how the BOR approaches athletics: 1. Entertainment only.......then who do they care runs the show. 2. Winning.......................then they would care who runs the show....which has not happened, yet. As Clayton Williams (once ran for governor of Texas in the 80's) once commented about the fog, "since you can not do anything about it you might as well sit around and enjoy it." Our discussions should be DIRECTED at the UNT BOR instead of DD/RF/RV. Until the BOR changes its philosophy of "ATHLETICS IS ENTERTAINMENT" we are stuck in the FOG. PMG and SE you old hippies once said, "Onward thru the FOG."
  22. Correct me if I am wrong but is this the responsiblity of the OC, Ramon "I Can Count All My Offense Plays On My Digits" Flannigan?? I thought, correct me if I am wrong, part of the OC's responsibility was to have contingency plans for various Defenses and how to play to their weakness. I am just worried: 1. Was the 3-3 just a surprise or is it a better defense for trying to run between the tackles? 2. Evidently no adjustments were made during the Tulsa game....or in most other games. 3. Is Darrel "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey's new slogan, "If it is broke.....DON"T fix it?" 4. How much attention does RF pay to the game and does he know how to adjust? S.E's Infamous battle cry, "YOU ARE BEING OUT COACHED" rings out louder every day. As frustrated as I am about the offensive scheme and its calculated failures against other mid-major programs......I would like to see DD/RF try something NEW----kinda like throwing 60%-70% of the time, kinda like running the tripple option, kinda like running 50% trick plays, kinda like quick kicking on first down....anything but what these two grown EX-collegent-QB's are doing to us now. UNT is playing against a "Defensive Buzz-Saw" in Akron Saturday. 1. Akron held two BCS schools (Penn State & NCSU) to less than 90 yards rushing.....what do you think will happen to #117 in the country offensively?? 2. I just hope that DD can adjust and come up with a game plan similar to SMU. Then we may have a chance. We know UNT has talented FB players ....but.....they are not being used to their full potential.....you can have all-american talent but underutilization of that talent is egregious. Abe Lincoln fired a lot of "Yankee" generals before he found one who could win. Perhaps the UNT BOR can look at this 145-year old Management Technique.
  23. Oldtimer-- The real question is not "why was this not done last week against Tulsa" BUT why was this not done 8 years ago??? Has not this been an on going situation with Darrell "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey?? From the two other posts from local papers it is evident that: 1. Darrell "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey is not taking responsibility for the OL to knock holes (or as he likes to say zone block) through 8 stacked defensive players. Let me see......we have an average of 5 OL on the line and they have 8 waiting for us.........hummmmmmmmmm. 2. Now Darrell "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey is belittling the Kick Return Team for being # 117 out of 119 D-1 teams. He says it disappoints him and he feels sorry for Muzzy. hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. 3. Darrell "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey is saying that the "Offensive Plays" are too complicated. hummmmmmmmmmm. How many offensive plays do we have??? (1) run off tackle to the left. (2) run off tackle to the right (3) draw play on 3rd and long. (4) pitch to the left (5) pitch to the right (6) QB draw on 3rd and long (7) (8) (9) (10) four pass plays. So far(t) this year I have not heard Darrell "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey take responsibility for any sub par play of the offense, defense or special teams. What do you call someone who leads an organization that deflects his final responsibility on his co-workers failures?? Let me remind you about Akron's run "D" 1. It held Penn State University to 76 Rushing Yards this year. 2. It held NCSU to 81 Rushing Yards this year. 3. From a previous post on "Akron" (now on page 2 of gomeangreen) Akron is ranked about #42 in D-1A in Rush Defense. 4. Akron is ranked in the top 40 of Total offense. Is Darrell "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey going to establish the RUN first to soften up their "D" so he can throw about 11 passes??? Stay Tuned. I just know he and Ramon "I KEEP ALL THE OFFENSIVE PLAYS ON MY 10 DIGITS" Flannigan are going to work up a really swell game plan. New middle names: Darrell "KEEP 8 IN THE BOX" Dickey, HC Ramon "I KEEP ALL THE OFFENSIVE PLAYS ON MY 10 DIGITS" Flannigan, OC
  24. First off it is a pretty long article so get ready: A couple of things POP out: 1. Akron held Penn State to 76 yards rushing. 2. Akron held NCSU to 81 yards rushing. 3. UNT is #118 of 119 in Offensive yards this year. 4. What are the odds that Darrell "keep 8 in the box" Dickey will try to establish the run? http://www.gozips.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_...0&ATCLID=609990
  25. Offense is only D- or F because of RF play selection not because of execution. When you are faced with 8 men in the box..........good luck.
