  1. JJ and his staff are one of the better ones that I have seen in quite a while. Just remember that four of the seven losses have been by a "total" of 8 points. UNT lost by 1 to UTA...on a late shot; lost to N.O. by 4, lost to FIU and USA by 1. We could be easily 18-3 instead of 14-7. About three or four years ago Texas A&M was playing terrible and then they started playing some "cream puff" teams that improved their OOC record but in the following years their conference play began to improve. There were a few posters on this board who laughed at the A&M schedule and the quality of wins during this time frame. Now look at their ranking. Naturally, the BCS schools are going to get better players, overall, than the mid-major programs and specifically in the SBC. JJ has been playing some "cream puff" teams the last couple of years and I truely believe that we have seen the dividend in quality players. UNT is not getting "blown out" of any games like we were when he first arrived and again I believe that he has turned the program around in a positive fashion. JJ has one of the strongest benches in the conference. IMHO, getting rid of JJ, would be detrimental to the program.
  2. UNT will probably be going to the NCAA tournament in Roller Hockey in a couple of weeks in Florida. The UNT "B" Team is ranked #8 in the Nation and may have a chance to go to the tournament too.
  3. S.E. & J.Ds., I am really surprised that you are "trying" to include "f r i n g e" groups into my main point of Islamic terrorists. Abortion clinic bombers, the KKK, the Kaczynskies, McVeighs and Rudolphs of the world are not trying to take over the world and ya'll are trying to go down the old perverbial bunny trail on that one. I will agree these folks that you mentioned are fringe extreemists & have murdered people for their shallow beliefs. You fail to recognize the immediate threat of Islamic terrorism today and its implications on western civilization. 1. Ok, I mentioned the Crusades and how a young Western Civilized Europe defeated, several times, the hoards of Muslims in the Middle East, France, Spain and Austria to perserve Christian Europe. Boys, "FREEDOM" comes at a price. The price of young men who willingly march to battle to preserve our God given rights as a free christian culture and those unfortunates who die in innocents. In all wars the innocents who want nothing to do with war die along with those who die for cause. THESE MEN DIE FOR THE RELIGION OF FREEDOM. 2. Hitler was no more a practicing Catholic than I am the Pope. Hitler was into the occult along with his closer associates. 3. Bosnia? You can not be this misinformed. Of course Christian have killed Muslims. Muslims have been killing Christians and Orthodox Christians in a power struggle for centuries in this region. Why dont you blame the Muslims for killing the Christians in this region. One of my regrets in this 20th century conflict was Prez Clinton supporting the Muslims and killing the Christians during his administration. Again, IMHO, the only person who was able to stop the violence in this region was good 'ole Commrade Tito. 4. Our main threat today is against Islam. 57 countries around the world are Islamic and want nothing more than to take away your freedom, your beliefs and turn you and your family into practicing Muslims and if not kill you. If you do not believe me then ask the people of Indonesia (remember that includes a lot of islands), Afganistan, Somolia, Sudan, Pakistan, Saudia Arabia, Egypt, Palestine.....etc......etc.....etc. Heck fire, go to your local Mosque and ask the Iman or pick some "current events" and read for yourselves. 5. Today's threat is Western Christian Civilization vs. Islam. Innocent people are going to get killed on both sides. The question is what type of government do you want to live under? I prefer to live under a Free Western Christian Civilization and support the religion of Freedom. 6. For those who want a coalition of both Christian and Islam then only turn to Chamberlin after Munich.
  4. johndenver, the difference between your list and the list of muslims is that your folks are not trying to take over the world.
  5. to get my two cents in on the islamic intentions....just in the 20th century: 1. Muslim Turkey has expelled apx. 1.5 million Greeks from its empire in the east and replaced them with Turks They have massacred apx. 2,000,000 Armenians and replaced them with Turks in the west. 2. Muslim Turkey has invaded and occupied northern Cyprus displacing the Greeks that lived there. 3. Muslim northern Sudan has conquered much of southern Sudan enslaving hundreds of thousands of its Christian population. 4. Indonesian Muslims have occupied all of the non-Islamic western New Guinea and incrporated it into Muslim controlled Indonesia. 5. Muslim Indonesia has invaded and conquered Christian East Timor with horrible loss of Christian life. 6. Muslim Indonesia is attempting to destroy Christianity in was used to be called Celebes. 7. A half-dozen Arab countries have fought about four wars in an attempt to destroy Isreal and occupy it's territory with the consent of the world's 57 (fifty-seven) Islamic nations. 8. Muslim Libya has blown up western aircraft killing hundreds of non-muslilms. 9. Muslim Iraq invaded Kuwait. 10. Muslim Iraq invaded Iran with the deaths of over 2,000,000. 11. Muslim Albania is attempting to enlarge its borders at Christian Macedonia. 12. Muslim Northern Nigeria has benn an aggressor against the the Christian South. 13. Muslims have occupied Somolia and killed hundreds of thousands of non-muslims. 14. Muslim Chechans have been fighting the Russians for the last 30 years and have killed thousands of innocent women and children in the Opera house slayings a couple of years ago and killed dozens of school children in southern Russia about a year and a half ago. 15. Prez Putin (Russia), as I write, has put Moscow on terrorist alert today because of threats of more bombings by these Muslims. 16. Muslim youth bombed and set fire to thousands of cars in France, two years ago, for about a month. 17. Muslims killed Van Ghoes (sp) grandson in the Netherlands for speaking out against Islam. 18. Muslims have threatened to kill the current Pope. One Muslim did shoot the last Pope. 19. Muslims killed over 200 in the Madrid, Spain train bombings. 20. Muslims killed scores in the London, England Subway/Bus bombings. Naturally, this is not talking about the Crusades and Muslim conquest. Naturally, this is not talking about how the Europeans stopped the Muslim conquest of Europe in 1529 outside the gates of Vienna. Naturally, this is not talking about how the French stopped the Muslims at Tours, after they had conquered Asia Minor, North Africa and Spain....and how they drove the muslims back across the Mediterranian Sea into North Africa. What is at stake here is the religion of FREEDOM. Freedom is the seven letter word that has driven western civilization to the greatest industial society on the face of the earth. I do not care what you worship your FREEDOM will be taken away. The United States, now, has its first Muslim in congress and refused to be sworn in on the Bible and used the Koran. In conquered contries Islamic culture forbade: Christians and non christians from bearing arms. Christians and non christians could not ride horses/autos. Could not build. Had to pay extra taxes. Could not proselytize. Had to bow to their Muslim masters. Had to live under the laws set forth by the Koran. Gave up family members for slaves. I will have to agree that not all Muslims are terrorists....but.....all terrorists are Muslim. Wake up people before it is too late.
  6. JJ is one of the better coaches that NT has had in a long time despite all those who think the sky is falling. UNT has one of the strongest benches, in the belt, in over 15 + years and probably longer than that and an excellent recruiter. Just look who he has gotten from Arkansas and AZ state and look who is coming in next year? If the only stats you can see are the daily numbers and have "no" reference to the the past teams ... and I go back to watching the teams of Coach Spika in the mid-late 60's.... then you will know what I mean. JJ's team this year will do very well and has an excellent chance of winning the SBC Tournament since that is really the only way that ONLY ONE SBC team will enter March Madness. Unfortunately, the SBC only has one slot for the "elite BB playoffs." It does not matter how we end up in regular season.....it only matters how we end up at the end of the SBC tournament. Be patient, JJ will do very well this year. This is one of the better coaches I have seen at UNT and IMHO RV better keep him.
  7. One, I was being factitious when I stated that a rolled doobie and a can a beer should be placed besides AS's name in the end zone. I really did not think anyone took that seriously. IMHO and FWIW I really do not think the practice facility should be named after AS because of his deeds for what he did on or off the field. That is my belief and my belief only. Evidently others disagree for whatever reason and I can respect your opionion but I respectfully disagree with those opinions just as much as those who disagree with mine. It is also my opionion that if you want to memoralize one individual you should memorialize all those who played the game at UNT and not just one person who only played a few games.
  8. JD-- In all reality, AS only started in a handfull of games at NT and did well. We will never know what he could have done in his "potential" years at NT. JD, if you want to idolize a young man who only played at NT a couple of years and started a handfull of games who was killed on the road while drunk and stoned that is your business, not mine. I tend to hold the people I respect to a MUCH higher standard and I "try" to lead my life accordingly. Yea, we all make mistakes and I have made my share of mine like the rest of you and I mean ALL of you. The DIFFERENCE is that I do not "idolize" and try to make memorials (in wanting name a practice facility after him or put 12 brass knobs on a cannon) to a drunk and stoned individual who kill himself on the road and only played a handfull of football games at NT. Thank goodness he only killed himself and not anyone else. AS not only destroyed his life but NUMBER 1 his family, his close friends, his team, his university and those of you who think how he died was acceptable. If you want to memorilize him then memorilize him with ALL the men who played at NT since our inception on an obelisk. What AS did was wrong......dead wrong.....and these actions & behaviors should not be idolized and memorilized individually.
  9. IMHO the name of the facility should be changed to the Jim Mac Practice Facility in honor of the "rags to riches" story of the man who donated the money. Also, not to chide all the great and not so great players that have played for North Texas, since its inception, a memorial obelisk should be erected with the names of all NT players. It is my belief that DD wanting to have the name changed from the DD Practice facility to the AS Practice facility was doing nothing more than creating another controversy, similar to the "black recreational jersey" incident in the FAU game. DD knew, as well as the rest of us, when the coroner said AS was "drunk" and "stoned" when he had his tragic accident that this topic would create another controversy......which by all means it has. Like the rest of you I do not support illicit activities, that are against the law, even though most of us have done them in the indiscretions our youths. A great author once said, and I paraphrase, when I was a child I thought as a child and did childish things but when I became a man I put away my childish things. If AS was suppose to be a team leader why are you trying to memorilize a practice facility for someone with such and forever a tarnished reputation??? I really do not care if AS led UNT to a bowl game & I really do not care what sort of "future potential" AS may have had with UNT. He may have had plenty of positive attributes but he broke the law and paid for it with his life and thank goodness he did not "kill" anyone else in his drunken and stoned state. For those of you who want to put AS's name in the end zone of the practice facility make sure you put a rolled up doobie and a can of beer by his name too.
  10. CMJ-- Several years ago a mathimatician calculated the probability of just HALF of all the prophicies in the Old Testiment coming true. That number was One to the Eighty Seventh power. Let me explain how big that number is: One to the "third" power is....... 1,000. One the the "twelth" power is....1.000,000,000,000. This does not take into account the other half of the prophicies in the Old Testiment and the prophicies in the New Testiment. So far "ALL" of the prophicies in the Old and New Testiment have come true. For those who want to throw in Nostidamis (sp) he has Zero % accuracy. Granted, he has come close a few times like others like him. CMJ, what PMG, FFR and others like us wish for you is a "Road to Damascus" experience. Merry Christmas.
  11. JD.... I already gave you Dinesh D'Souza's "The End of Racism" and the Library of Congress for my facts. I explained to you that southern blacks were mustered in as "whites" not blacks into many of the southern regiments which makes your figures "wrong." Your other point of slavery, according to D'Souza is out of context. He also sites slavery all over the world and documents all instances. Besides, the emancipation proclumation only affected southern states in hopes, by lincoln, it would produce a slave revolt in the south to disrupt the south. It never freed slaves in the north. If you picked up this book he has over 150 pages of documented references. Your personal view of slavery comes from UTC and contemporary texts of the victors who have the flexibility to rewrite history in their own biases. Personally, I think we will have to agree to disagree.
  12. JD.... I never said that slavery never existed, it did. I am just trying to get you to understand that there is a different side to the major misconceptions of what happened. Besides "just" about anyone who has looked into the subject will explain to you that Stowes book (UTC) has many misconceptions based upon her percieved ideas of what she thought was going on. Another fact.....U.S. Grant freed his slaves days before he was sworn in as President in 1869. Another fact.....Most southern slave owners built schools, churches and hospitals for their slaves. Another fact.....Most southern slave owners gave parcels of land to their slaves for them to raise livestock and grains to sell. Another fact.....Most slaves worked shorter hours and had better diets than the Irish and Italian workers in the Northeast during this same time period. Another fact.....More blacks fought for the south than did for the north during the Civil War. If you take the time and look at these documents in the library of Congress most southern blacks were "mustered" into southern regiments as "whites" because of various state laws and mostly into artilery regiments. Where as in the north the blacks were "mustered" into front line infantry who usually went in first because of the racial prejudice of yankee staff officers to have the blacks used as "cannon fodder" prior to sending in their "elite" white troops. If you read nothing else in 2007 please read, The End of Racism by Dinesh D'Souza. He has written several in depth and documented texts on various subjects with no bias. He just presents the facts. Do I think slavery is wrong today? yes. Do I think it was wrong prior to the Civil War? IMHO, it was a necessary implement to sustain an aggrarian culture based upon their major cash crop, cotton. You have to remember that the south was aggrarian and the north was industrial. Anyway, read the book.
  13. Uncle Tom's Cabin was a book of fiction depicting one woman's "perspective" of what she "thought" was going on. Stowe never ventured south of New York in her life. If life was so harsh and inhumane in the south then why were slaves able to procreate from 697,000 (from the census of 1790) to over 4,000,000 in 1861?? Slave ownership dropped from 25% to 10% during this same period. Whites were not the only ones who owned slaves during this period. This included free blacks and american indians who were notoriously harsher on slaves than whites. One last point.....the american south was the "only" place in the americas (south america, latin america, mexico and north america) where slaves were able to procreate. The other countries the slaves were dying faster than what the countries could bring them in. you can find some of these startling facts in Dinesh D'Souza's book, "The End of Racism."
  14. unfortunately baptists, methodists, buddists, rabbies, hindus are not actively going out starting wars and threatening to take over the world or "kill" you if you do not submit to their philosophies. Only Islam does that. If you do not believe and submit to Islam, if you be an agnostic, christian, buddist, hindu or atheist you will be killed because you are a non believer of mohammed. That my friends are in their (muslims) pagonistic writings. You will never find this in the writings of the new testiment and the other philosophical beliefs of other relegions outside of islam. This is why all great modern western civilizations based their constitutions on the writings of the Bible. Yea, these same western civilizations had wars etc etc etc.....but......the countries that based their countries constitutions other than Biblical principals never thrived in comparison. One of the best books that I believe that everyone should read, at least once, is Winston Churchill's, "The Great Democracies."
  15. UNTflyer....it might do you well to read something else about the south than Harriet Beacher Stowes, "Uncle Tom's Cabin" to get a real perspective of what the North was doing to the south and the southern response.
  16. Muslims have been intent on world domination since their inception in the 7th or 8th century. Muslim world conquest was first stopped by the Franks (we know 'em now as the French) at Tours about the middle of the 8th century. The Franks were outnumbered about 3-1 or 4-1. With the Christian Frank victory the Muslims withdrew back through Spain and back across to Morocco. I believe the Austrian army stopped the Muslims somewhere in Austia....I dont remember the time frame. Again, like the Franks, the Austrians were outnumbered 3-1 to 4-1. The Crusades stoped the world domination of Islam. As I recall that was the last large armed conflicts of Christian vs. Islamic armies facing each other. Islam wants "All" of us to be Mulims or they want us dead. Now just about every war on the planet involves Muslims. 1. currently fighting in the Phillipines 2. currently fighting in Malasia. 3. currently fighting in other southeast asian countries. 4. currently fighting in Afganistan, India and Burma (whatever that country is called now). 5. currently fighting in the Middle east. Muslims are becoming more active in recruiting in South America, Latin America and Mexico. Muslims are using the United States press to surpress whatever opposition they run across in OUR country. 1. C.A.I.R. is the Muslims version of the ACLU which have been filing suits daily in our court system. 2. Now american elementary schools on up are "required" to indoctrinate OUR kids in Islamic culture and even memorizing the Koran...your kids have probably already been indoctrinated. 3. The good people of Minnesota or Wisconsin elected a Muslim to Congress for 2007 and he has already said he "is not" going to take the oath of office on the Bible but only the Koran. I do not want to sound like an alarmist but you can draw similar paralells to 1933 Germany and the beginning of the Nazi party. As Nikita Kruchev told us in the 50's in the U.N. "we will defeat you (U.S.) from within." This is the idea of Islam.
  17. ok, the pc police tell us today the the stars and bars is a racist and politically incorrect emblem.......... but.......... here is an interesting question......... if the united states government, in 1861, was still deciding what states were to enter the union as free or slave then what was the civil war fought for?? A. States rights. B. Taxation without representation.. C. Union embargo. D. Higher price controls on southern goods such as cotton. E. Lincoln's early blocade of southern ports (prior to the war). If the good people of Mississippi want to vote to keep the Stars and Bars let them. Unfortunately, it is extremist groops such as today's KKK, that denegrate what the Stars and Bars ment to a generation at is far removed from today's thought. Only the victors get to amend history into their viewpoints.
  18. Someone give me a synopsis, to date, who has "officially" turned down and who still shows interest in the HC FB position at UNT. please excuse all those who you would like to have that have not contacted RV.
  19. ffr-- that is my point....."some" of the blame for DD's record has to, ultimately, be with the ADs for scheduling either 15 money games, as you say, or 30 according to DD. anyway, perhaps the next coach will face less of a "ball busting" BCS schedule and have a greater mix of mid-major schools with a couple of D-1AA games thrown in. i am not personally opposed to playing, at least, one D-1AA school per year like many other D-1A schools including BCS schools do. Evidently this philosophy does not hurt the BCS schools reputations and will not hurt UNT's reputation.
  20. DD makes some legitimate points in his farewell. 1. does DD remain solely responsible for his current record when he had no input on all the OOC "money games" or does RV hold the bag on this too?? As we know mid-major teams stand little to no chance of defeating BCS schools. RV could have scheduled less BCS teams and more mid-majors with a few D-1AA teams thrown in during the DD era..... Was RV under "higher" authority to schedule these games or was this done on his own?? Am I glad to see DD leave??.....yes and glad to see the OC go to. I personally thought the play calling was horrible during the last two years. I felt that the talent UNT had was under utilized. Since the retirement of the Coach Otus Mitchell in 1966 UNT has been the death bell for college coaches with the exception of Rod Rust and Haden Fry. Rust ended up back in the NFL and Fry at Iowa. All other coaches have faded away into never-never land. UNT is a "tough" place to coach and expect to move up in the college ranks. I persoanally hope that the next coach can take UNT to the next level and stay and build a respectful program without either: 1. never being heard of again. or 2. staying a couple of years and getting a better offer. with the record of the last 40 years it is a crap shoot and I wish the next coach the best of luck.
  21. monkeypox.......lol.......listen to yourself. you prove my point..... 1. in your first response to me you contradict yourself, in the same sentence by stating that you do not trash talk then turn right around in the same breath and belate MM. 2. you do the same in your second sentence. boy oh boy. 3. i am glad that you and the rest of us financially support unt financially. 4. i am really frustrated at the group of you telling MM to shove his donation and call him various vile names that are NOT represenative of the majority. 5. ok.....it is time for ya'll to get out your old lady tea cups and get back to your self adalation and how great everyone is for donating 1% of your income and now you can get back to your pity party. 6. like bufford jullup said in the BB post.....if you really want to get some real benefit out of this press, "control....alt.....delete."
  22. you guys have bitched moaned and growned over the last "ump-teen" years about the lack of financial support from boosters. now when a booster, and in this case it is MM, donates $1,000,000 and wants to name the PF after DD it raises such a "hell storm" of dissent amongst all of you it is like you want to keep UNT in the DARK AGES of fundraising. 1. to me it is like some of you have characterized donors in the same breath as what some of you characterized DD on the "whoa is me" pendalum. 2. i am personally elated that an alum who has made himself financially sucessful wants to donate to UNT. Everyone on this board ought to feel the same elation that MM's donation may snowball into greater efforts by other alums and/or other "big money" donors. 3. MM was not blessed with money when he first started out in the furniture business in Houston. This guy originally sold funiture out of a tent along the freeway and his business grew to what it is today. How many of you would have the "guts" to do the same thing??? Ya'll are a bunch of whinners and have no idea what the "big picture" really is for this university. 4. am i glad to see a change at the HC position......??? yes. But this does not mean that i want to see just about everone trash MM and his "SUPPORT" for UNT athletics. 5. like i said before.....everone match what MM did for UNT if you support UNT, and you will see a much better program. 6. if you want to continue to bitch like a bunch of little old ladies at a tea party then ya'll ought to get together and continue this "pitty party."
  23. Tulsa, SMU and LaTech are mid majors not BIG money games like Texas, OU, Arkansas, and other BCS schools who beat the crap out of us. Were these games winable......Tulsa, no......SMU, yes......LaTech, yes if we kept the Green Team in the 4th Quarter.
  24. MM is right..... change the name of the practice facility to the DDPF! how many of you who post have donated $1,000,000 to the FB program? as much complaining that is on this board about the lack of funding at this university .... is it totally unreasonable to turn down this donation?? no matter what everyone feels about DD and his tenure at UNT everyone who wishes MM to redirect this donation needs a frontal labotomy. again, MM is correct in the horendous OOC games that UNT has to play for money games to try to balance the athletic budget. remember....UNT is in the SBC not the WAC.....not the CUSA.....not the MAC.....not the MWC.....not in the BCS conferences. UNT is in the "WORST" D-1A conference in America behind, usually, two D-1AA conferences. Could UNT have done better with another coach? maybe yes....maybe no.....we will never know. Will UNT do better with a new coach??? maybe yes.....maybe no....only time will tell. I will have to admit that I have enjoyed what the Green Team has done in the last two games and because of what they have done gives me hope for the future of the program. For UNT to advance athletically UNT needs donations, period. UNT does not have the donors like UT, OU, Okie State, Ohio State ect...ect....ect....ect. If ANY of you trash MM on his giving then YOU are the ones who want to keep UNT down in the "DARK AGES" of BIG TIME college fundraising. You know in your heart I am right. finally........it is time to get out your checkbooks and "match," en mass, what MM has graciously done for UNT. If you do not then YOU have no room to talk about how other alums designate their own hard earned dollars to this university.
  25. 88-72 unt.....less than 1 min
