  1. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2946385 appears ESPN has a different view of UNT football than other polls and SBC standings. here is 101-119 http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2942242

  3. http://hotair.com/archives/2007/07/20/vide...-thriller-clip/ pretty good.
  4. The individual who designed the University of Michigan helmet did so that the QB could spot his receivers and know which way they were running. Whatever works use it. I like the white helmet.
  5. IMHO, the progosticators who predict that UNT will be a bottom feeder in the SBC never mention that Coach Dodge was a D-1A Coordinator at UNT but always mention that he is making the unpresidented jump from high school to college. These same prognosticators hardly mention that Coach Dodge won numberable state titles at Texas' highest level of Texas High School Football and only lost one game. Meaning no disrespect to the various sport's writers of these football rags but does anyone ever do any real research or do they go on previous records and gut feelings? IMHO, again, the worst senario is third with second place as my prediction. With a few lucky breaks UNT wins the SBC for the fifth time. Before you take your shots you have to remember this: 1. UNT lost nine games in the last two years of Coach Dickey's tenure by a touchdown or less basically with the same players on Coach Dodge's roster. 2. The last two years of Coach Dicky's tenure he averaged 13.5 points per game. 3. Question: What you have seen in Spring Practice and how the team has been doing their informal workouts does anyone really expect a Coach Dodge team to put up 13.5 points per game average over the course of the season? Personally I think Coach Dodge will do that by the first quarter or midway through the second quarter in most of the SBC games and possibly a couple of the OOC games, hopefully SMU. 4. To say that Coach Dodge will compare to Coach Dickey's brand of football in points, yardage and philosophy is heresy and at best defeatist. 5. RF is not our OC!
  6. from the n.y. post. could lead to discussions of a true playoff system http://www.gnextinc.com/ousoonersblog/2007...final-four.html
  7. i thought the FIU game was just as exciting as the 51-48 win over USU in '97. it was really cool to see all the players get that excited after the FIU win. i only wish more people saw the USU win.
  8. Possibly the two best spread QB's in the State of Texas, incidently played in state championship games, are not good enough?
  9. I posted an 8-4 record because during the last two years of Coach Dickey's tenure at UNT he lost nine games by a touchdown or less. Now, considering the offensive style that he ran and with a potential of producing more touchdowns I humbly believe Coach Dodge will win the close ones that we lost during that two year period. If the UNT defense produces the same results I believe that Coach Dodge's offense will offset and produce more in points. Think about it. Here is a link for you to take a look at most all of the NCAA's records including UNTs. http://cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/div_ia/mo...n_the_polls.php IMHO, again, I predict that Meager will start the season but Vizza, the Freshman will finish the season.

  11. Ok, I will bite on this. Here is my "prediction." @ OU...........L.........currently out of our league.....too big and faster for us. @ SMU.........W........we have their number again. FAU..........W........we have too much talent & coaching for them. @Ark...........L.........currently out of our league.....too big and fast for us. @LaLa.........W........they will be one of the bottom feeders of the SBC this year. LaMo.........W........close game but we have them here this year. @Troy.........L..........switching defense to counter the spread this year. They still have a bunch of talent. MUTS..........W.........we win in a Texas shootout. NAVY..........L..........the middies are tenatious & disciplined on O & D. Could come down to has the ball last. @ASU.........W.........the spread is too much for the "old tribe" to handle....our kids are getting used to the offense. WKU...........W.........WKU has redshirted all their seniors this year. @FIU...........W........ Dr. S does not have Dr. D's number. 8-4 and we share the SBC championship with Troy. Only to jolt everyone's memory UNT lost nine games, in the last two years, by a touchdown or less with what many thought was an anemic offence.
  12. IMHO, Coach Dodge will be with UNT for at least 5-6 years because: 1. His daughter is in 8th grade and will most likely attend SLC until she graduates. 2. His wife attended UNT. 3. He was an assistant at UNT in the 90's. 4. Riley will be with dad as long as it takes for him to graduate even if red shirted in his freshman year. 5. If I am not mistaken his father or father-in-law is in a nursing facility in McKinney.
  13. Does anyone know of any BCS expansion to 12 teams and any time table?
  14. In 1953 John Wayne stared a movie, Trouble Along the Way, and played a new coach at a Catholic College trying to restart a college football program. For a start up football program Wayne was not able to get very talented players because, naturally, they were all gravitating toward the larger programs. When the priests who oversaw the program announced the first year schedule, which Wayne had NO input he fell backwards. The Catholic priests scheduled Norte Dame, Boston College and Santa Clara. I only bring this up because Coach DD had NO input into playing all the big money body bag games and games against some very talented Mid-Majors. At the time UNT was a very big fish in a small pond with other conference schools in the very same situation. The SBC is a conference of parity. In the last two years another touchdown in 2005 would have beaten Troy, LaLa, FAU, LaMo, ASU and in 2006 would have ment wins over Troy, LaTech & FAU. Coach Dickey was a good man and did what he could with his talents, period. I wish him the best of luck at USU and it is time to stop "living in the past" but look toward the future and what Coach TD will do. I am excited. I stand in agreement with those who say that if anyone of you can come up with $1,000,000 (or more) as Mattress Mac did then you too can build something or name something but until then ya'll should thank MM for donating the money for a new practice facility that we would not have received except by his generosity and support of our program. It is amazing that someone can donate $1,000,000 and a group of you are ungratefull. All things happen for a reason and if Coach Dickey departed a year earlier or a year later UNT may have missed its chance on getting Coach TD. If UNT had not have hired our new university Prez we may not have gotten TD. Well Todo this don't look like Kansas.
  15. North Dakota Fighting Sioux (Divison II) took on the NCAA last year and won. ASU just needs to have the cajones to stand up to NCAA and win this one and cite Florida State, Illinois, North Dakota and however many others that are out there that still have Indian names.
  16. Troy's expectations are no more or less than what our expectations are. I would not expect less from them.

  18. If anyone remembers last year UNT calendar North Texas won the National Championship in Debate in the early-mid 60's. UNT cheerleaders won the National competition in Cheerleading a few years ago.....ESPN baby! Our lab bands could have been national champs since I do not recall any other college winning any Grammies.
  19. http://collegebaseball.rivals.com/content....&CID=678012 New Orleans and Troy in the Series too. Check out the latest scores.

  21. In my memory, having a student compete in both BB and FB, at North Texas, has not been that sucessful. I believe the last time was Awasom. Great FB player but two left feet and hands of stone in BB. There was no transition time from the "smash mouth" FB tactics to the finess of BB. If anyone can remember someone who excelled in both BB & FB in the last 40 years at North Texas please enlighten me.
  22. From the National Review..... Wednesday, May 16, 2007 Pelosi's Gambit [Jonah Goldberg] Boehner's office just sent this out: DEMOCRATS TO CHANGE 185 YEAR-OLD HOUSE RULE TO ALLOW TAX HIKES WITHOUT HAVING TO VOTE May 16, 2007 In a stunning move, House Democrats today revealed they will attempt to rewrite House rules that have gone unchanged since 1822 in order to make it possible to increase taxes and government spending without having to vote and be held accountable. House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today vowed Republicans will use every available means to fight this unprecedented change. “This is an astonishing attempt by the majority leadership to duck accountability for tax-and-spend policies the American people do not want,” Boehner said. “The majority leadership is gutting House rules that have been in place for 185 years so they can raise taxes and increase government spending without a vote. House Republicans will use every tool available to fight this abuse of power.” Last November, House Democratic leaders promised the most open, ethical Congress in history: “[W]e promised the American people that we would have the most honest and most open government and we will.” (Nancy Pelosi press stakeout, December 6, 2006) “We intend to have a Rules Committee ... that gives opposition voices and alternative proposals the ability to be heard and considered on the floor of the House.” (Steny Hoyer in CongressDaily PM, December 5, 2006) The rules House Democrats are seeking to change have not been changed since 1822. Republicans have already achieved significant legislative successes on the House floor with 11 consecutive “motion-to-recommit” victories that exposed flaws and substantively improved weaknesses in underlying Democrat bills. But rather than living by the same rules which have guided the House of Representatives for 185 years, Democrats are proposing to change the rules in order to game the system and raise taxes and increase spending without a House vote. What are House Democrats afraid of? 05/16 03:25 PM Another example of the democrats that if you dont like free speech or debate then silence the opposition. The Democrats are also pushing through the "Fairness Doctrine," again. If you are not familiar with that then there are plenty of sites to explain it.....it ain't really fair. Here is a good article of the fairness doctrine: http://www.townhall.com/columnists/JonSand...patriotic_stuff
  23. I understand that there is a bill before the Texas Legislature to eliminate the TAKS. That will be excellent to get rid of a system that teaches kids how to pass the standardized test instead of teaching kids basic education like math, reading and sciences.
  24. folks, the posts on this board over the last couple of weeks have been a little boring and i just wanted a little fun contraversy to see how many "bunny trails" that ya'll would take on different subjects.
