  8. Germany, in WWI, tried to goad the Mexicans to invade the American southwest to take back the lands they lost due to our manifest destiny. The reason.....too many Texicans with guns. Evidently, it was not the army they feared as it was the armed Texas citizens. In the Mexican War, Gen. Scott asked the Texans to leave the war because Texans were so brutal in combat.
  9. I am afraid that this situation is a little more complicated than what meets the eye. 1. "Uncle Joe" (Stalin) broke up a bunch of ethnic areas to Balkanize parts of the Soviet Union by giving them autonomous regions. Unfairly, I might add. 2. We all know what Balkinization can do for a region. 3. Prez Bush did sell the Georgians a bunch of military equipment, including AA batteries, which, to date have shot down about a handfull of Russian aircraft. Bush, also sent US military advisors to Georgia to ensure they knew how to use the equipment. 4. Ooooops....did I mention OIL? Yep the Russians have an oil pipeline running through Georgia to their seaport. Russia does supply Western Europe with a majority of their oil and that some of that oil comes though this pipleline as well as some oil that heads to the good 'ol USA. 5. Georgia has been known to overtly tap into the Russian oil/gas pipeline and sipher some free "black gold." 6. In my estimation Russia has every right to go into their former republic and quel the disturbance before it gets out of hand militarily. In my humble estimation this would be like if Texas was granted independence several years ago and began receiving arms shipments from China then decided to get back territory that was lost from N.M. and Colorado. Of course the USA would step in to ensure Texas oil production would not effect the other 49 states and do something about the abundance of Chinese military equipment adjacent to their border. Just let the Ruskies take care of the crap that happens in their own back yard and leave us out of it. Let the Europeans take care of this squabble and I am sure they can do a much better job than if the United States got involved with it. George Washington was correct when he said that the United States should keep out of foriegn entanglements. Whew, history repeating itself again.
  10. As a "True Freshman," last year, Vizza did a great job and progressively improved as the season progressed. Vizza's transition from H.S. to college was a tremendous learning experience (especially from the speed standpoint) and in the back of everyone's mind we all know what adversities the team faced moving from a run based offense to a spread offense with a team that had only won a handfull of games in two years. Forget about the INT's he threw.....heck he was an 18 year old freshman going through a giant learning curve. I expect to see greater achievments on not only his part this year but also the team that has one year's experience on offense. With Coach Deloach taking care of the "D" UNT should do much much better. I am anxious to see the team play with the additional talent that Coach Dodge & staff recruited for this year. As far as Riley, we know that Coach Dodge will be totally & 100% objective......and probably more so with his son.
  11. The problem is not the pumping of oil and gas.....Texas, along with other states, have idle rigs already in place to pump. The problem is with refining the oil and gas. The United States needs to double its oil and gas refineries. About three weeks ago (either South or North Dakota) passed legislation to build one refinery. If all our refineries can produce "X" amount of product and we extract "Y" then that is normal. If we extract Y+1 or Y+25 of product then we still only produce "X." For anyone who believes it will take 7-10 years for the United States to retrieve the crude then they have been sniffing too much H2S. Case in point: How long did it take companies like Chesepeak and WXO around the DFW area to set up and drill????not 10 friggin' years! There are homeowners in the DFW area already receiving their residual checks from these companies. Rigs are going up all over the Denton, Wise, Tarrant, Dallas and Johnson counties.....and it aint takin' no friggin' 10 years for 'em to start pumpin'. Heir Goebbles once said, and I paraphrase, if you tell a lie long enough people will believe it (please, no nazi pictures). Chesapeak has a slick advertisement showing how oil and gas, now, can be extracted by using ultra sonic technology to retrieve product that could not have been extracted, only, a few years ago. Refineries don't take 7-10 years to build.....who the heck believes that? American ingenuity and know how can get these structues built in a year or so. Not 10!! I too am voting independent 3rd party for president (again), but, I do like both of Texas' U.S. Senators (because they do vote for the best interest of the country) and I do like my represenative Kay Granger....who also votes the way I want her to vote, at least 90% of the time. If Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats refuse to allow an up and down vote on drilling then the US will continue to ship valuable monitary resources overseas and will, in my humble estimation, bankrupt the country enough to make the US subserviant to the whims of other oil producing countries. As far as the national reserves.....that is for the US military emergency use. By tapping into that will NOT help our current short term needs and will only put our armed forces at danger of running out of gas. Just ask the Germans how valuable gas was in 1944 and 1945. They lost more tanks from fuel shortages than actually lost in battle. (again, please no nazi pictures). I only say this because we have to learn from history & if we don't then we will fall prey to the same mistakes.

  14. QUESTION: Does anyone know the exact dollar amount (in dollars or the number of six packs of beer) that the students are going to pay by the semester?
  15. lifer- i hope that is the werst misteak i maek all dey. ok loose.
  16. IMHO, I would like to see a new stadium. However, I posted my thoughts only on a student point of view. Personally, I hope that the pro-active crowd, who wants the stadium, gets their butts in gear to drive a pro stadium campaign on campus as well as in the communities of the Dallas-Fort Worth area where the commuter students reside. With a new stadium: 1. UNT has the vast possibilities to bring in higher profile football teams. 2. Generate $$ into the community. 3. Bring in better athletes due to the facilites that have been built and will be built due to the increased revenue. Without the new stadium: 1. UNT may loose TD because of the promise of the new stadium..... 2. Loose TD's recruiting ability to take UNT to the next level of conference affiliation. 3. Have the "carrot-stick" statements from the administration on waiting to who/whom is going to donate the millions to build the stadium. I am as pro UNT as anyone else on this board...........regardless..........of my other views that do not pertain to sports.

  18. I will come out and say that the UNT student body vote's down the additional fee for the new stadium because: 1. The vast majority of the UNT students remain apathetic to UNT athletics....just look to the east side stands. 2. Why should the student body incure the cost of a new stadium with a team with such a record? Remember, most of the current students can not equate winning record & UNT football since they have been enrolled. 3. Appears the UNT Daily is leaning against student funding. 4. If the student vote is before the start of the SBC games......well........"Adios Casablanca." As a side note, a couple of decades ago, the North Texas students almost voted out football.
  19. emmit- at no time did i disparage the AA community or bring up any racist remarks....are you trying to race bait me? the Over the Rhine area of Cincinnatti is a name of an area that is no different than other smaller communities in a city......north richland hills, ridglea, wedgewood, south hills ect for example in fort worth. for you to try to equate some form of racism from a sub community of a city such as over the rhine to what the community make up is now, only shows your narrow mindedness. my other examples indicate AA, Hispanic and White races with the disclaimer that there is a minority of each three groups that commit the crimes indicates no racism other than your trite race baiting comments. you refere to my so called white racist addition to this post??? The U.S. Dept of Justice. Dude!?!? put down your glass full of hate and what you think you would like for it to read and re-read what i said and how i said it. Dude....in the past you show a total lack of reading comprehension on the basic syntax level. naturally, that can be rectified if you go back to english 101. As far as the stormtrooper or stormfront or whatever the heck that was, i didnt know what it was.....i only posted a relevent article on german fuel production during the end of wwII.....which was a relevant article for the post.....that is old news now but like girlfriends gone bad who bring up everything the soon to be ex did your persona exhibits the same non-forgiveness at any cost. Dude, you have got to learn to move on in life. If you take some time to look at the graph, and to you emmit, that is only looking at pictures with lines, you can make your own assumptions.
  20. If your egalitarianism has nothing to do with your guilt then explain your personal association with it. John 16:13. .....he will guide you into ALL truth.
  21. First "AVAILABLE" team "IF" the contrated team does not qualify. Great news but what if all the contracted teams qualify? ZERO extra bowl games for the SBC. Got to admit that sitting by phone at 8pm on Saturday night waiting for the phone to ring, for a date, is better than nothing.
  22. cbl- Winston Churchill, and I paraphrase, once said that if you are not a liberal by the time you are 20 you have no heart and if you are not a conservative by the time you are 40 you have no soul. IMHO, I see in you what I witnessed in the protests around the NTSU campus in the 60's. You are the typical egalitarian on a white euro-centric guilt trip because of the so called minority labor western europeans used to build colonial empires. I think this is your moral chaos. A funny but true story. A good friend of mine, who I have known since my NTSU days, had a son who listened to all his liberal politically correct teachers in high school and was able to recieve a minority scholarship to Prairie View A&M. His political leaning went from indifference to marxism. He was able to transfer to The Texas A&M on an academic scholarship. He came to visit me one time wearing his Che' T-Shirt and beret with the red star and tried to convince me to join the cause. He was too far entrenched in marxist philosophy at that time to listen to conservative reason. After his first semester he came back to see me and told me that he was transfering to St. Mary's (I think in San Antonio) to finish his degree. He said the reason was that nobody at Texas A&M would have anything to do with his Marxist Society Club that he was trying to establish on campus. Go figure! Only two members he said. He has now been living in England for the last three years and works for one the social service agencies and has expressed the desired interest to return to the USA because he can not tolerate a system that is socialist based. Go figure!
  23. http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/homicide/race.htm dept of justice stats. interesting. mostly graphs.....you draw your own conclusions. The Michelle Malkin post, by rick, indicates little interest in black on white crime. However, I will relate two stories that are, at least 15 years old. The first story is from my cousin who lives in southwest Missouri. Even though he is a little older than myself we both were fortunate to be raised christian conservative and both gained valuable insight from our die hard Republican grandmother who had pictures of Eisenhower and Nixon hanging in her livingroom. According to the Springfield newspaper, in the early 1990's, the city was pedominately white with the highest number of minorities being Chinese desent and then African-American. Crime stats indicated that approximately 80-85% of the crime was African-American with only less than 1% from the Chinese. To be fair, at this time, Springfield, was being introduced to the Crips and Bloods and I would assume some of the crime was related to these gangsters......since it would be difficult to classify them as community activists. After a year the C/B's began showing up dead in ones and twos in local barns and fields in and around Springfield with their hands tied behind their backs and "capped" in the back of the head. Naturally, the C/B's blamed the local police and the police said the deaths were related to gang turf issues. Result: C/B's packed their bags and left town. This story "only" represents what happens when you let gangs....if it be C/B's, MS-13 or the Ayrean Nation (sp) become entrenched in your commmunity that has more concern with with political correctness than protecting and serving. The last story relates to Cincinatti, Ohio and the minority section of town called Over the Rhine (once a German immigrant section of Cincinatti now predominately all A-A). Senario: Crime out of control, drugs, killings, prostitution...etc. Police in almost daily violent confrontations with a New Jack City type of culture (I will admit that most AA's like Whites don't commit crimes but there is a small segment of that population that do). Police had to shoot several residence of this area. Backlash: One too many white officers shot too many AAs which resulted in the immediate appearances of Jackson & Sharpton to claim genocide. The police said we have about 40% (or so) of police patrols in this area because this is where the crime is. This resulted in the Cincinatti police placing as many patrol units in this area as represenative as other sections of Cincinatti, as the final negotiations with the NAACP and the Over the Rhine residence demanded. Less police presence meant the rise of crime. After three months crime was so out of control that the AA comunity of the Over the Rhine was screaming for all the police protection they once had. This story "only" represents the high incidents of black on black crime, for the most part that goes unreported. Dare say there are a plethora of other multi-racial examples that are published daily on the net and published in "right wing" books written by "Bork," "D'Souza," "Mulkin," "Coulter," LaPierre," ..... etc.....
  24. http://web.israelinsider.com/Articles/Politics/12993.htm interesting
  25. quoner- there are litterly millions of acronyms. just explain what it is. why do you always try to get others to do your work? cbl- wow, another boring, redundant and trite ad hominum post concerning the innovations of the germans developing methane, at the end of wwII, to run their vehicles. i would prefer that you spend your time researching sbc teams and their players against nt. why don't we all quit this elementary school playground behavior and discuss football. btw, i will be at metzler's, off 35/normandie, saturday for lunch about 12-1230. stop by and i will by you both a beer.
