  1. ok, i stand corrected...mcbeth not hamlet..... speer became a evangilist after his trial...with the help of one of the military chaplins, gerecke. there are some interesting writings on this particular u.s. army chaplin at nuremberg (sp).
  2. Wow, another whine and cheese sewing circle party. I have been attending NT games since the last season of Otis Mitchell. Coach's Dodge and DeLoach are the real deal and excellent hires for NT because of their "reputations." What you fail to realize, at this point, is how terrible the NT FB talent was, and still is to some extent, when Coach Dodge was hired. He has and continues to bring in excellent talent into the program that I have not seen in decades. Unlike Coach Dickey who was somewhat imfamous for "stealth" recruiting Coach Dodge goes after the best players "overtly" and gets some of them. He has amasses excellent quality sophmores and now freshmen to our team. IMHO, when you have a bunch of freshmen and sophmores playing.....evidently.....they are beating out juniors and seniors. Do you kinda get the picture of the state of the NT FB program? Nobody can turn around a program that has fallen as far as ours overnight.....not even Coach Fry. Our offense is getting progressively better and our defense is getting some excellent young talent that probably need another year or two to develop. Coach DeLoach will get the "D" developed with excellent recruits. From NT to UCLA is a mighty big jump in college coaching circles. That is how much respect that coaches have for Coach "D." Coach Dodge is probably one of the best respected coaches in the state of Texas and has innumerable ties to the coaching ranks. The talent he has brought into our program is tremendous. The sad part about all this is that some of you "don't get it." So continue with your whine and cheese ..... continue to recite the opening scene of Hamlet...."trouble, trouble toil and trouble." As for me ...... come Saturday my butt will be in the bleachers, again, supporting Coach Dodge and NT football. As for you...... ??
  3. Ok quit the whinning. Last year you put, almost, the entire blame on Coach Mendoza. Now the head hunters are out doing the same thing with the coaching staff. The reality of the situation, and all you numb nuts should know this by now, is that Coach Dodge came knowing that he did not have squat for talent....top to bottom.....with the exception of a few players. When Freshmen and Sophmores are beating out Juniors and Seniors what does that "RED FLAG" you to the quality of talent? Heck fire......we all knew that UNT lacked talent 3 years ago. I remember saying last year how terrible our "D" was and that we didn't have crap for talent much less any speed. Naw, it was Coach Mendoza's fault. Fire Mendoza. Well, Coach Mendoza is gone and now UNT has one of our past saviors in Coach DeLoach and our "D" looks just as bad. Well, maybe it isn't the coache's fault as it is the "LACK OF TALENT." Face it guys and girls....you are going to quit having your sewing circle whine and cheese parties and "man up" to the fact that the coaching staff is doing the best they can with the talent they have. Unfortunately ya'll want an overnight fix in this realm of college football......well, guess what.....it ain't goin' to happen overnight and their ain't no instant gratification when you have to wait to see what the next 730 days will bring. Coach Dodge and his staff have brought some remarkable talent to UNT so far....more so than what Coach Dickey did in the last four years of his tenure. Be patient. Support what Coach Dodge and his staff are trying to accomplish. '
  4. Years ago Norm H. said he graduated from Canisus.
  5. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/stats/bycate...T&year=2008 This does not look so bad after two games against KSU and Tulsa.
  6. The sky ain't fallin' Do some you have a short memory? Go back and re-read the post of FWST that was posted today. The article pointed out that NT has 43 freshmen and 19 sophmores.....60% of the team. You gotta remember that Coach Dodge took over a team that was not talented except for a few players. Are you expecting miricles the first two years???.....I'm not......and possibly the third year. Believe me when I say this: Coach Dodge has a winning drive and the ability to recruit and NT will see winning results next year, IMHO......not this year......maybe 4-5 games......but even that is a success. I hope nobody really felt NT could actually beat KSU with our talent. Heck, Tulsa is picked to win CUSA and may end up going undefeated. All you "The Sky is Falling" crowd are so redundant in your outlook, during NT's OOC schedule, that you might as well "cut and paste" your comments from one year to the next. Some of you should pick your cojones and reattach them and act like real men with realistic expectations based upon what Coach Dodge had when he arrived and what he has already done. Coach Dodge is the real deal and brings the same enthusiasm as Coach Fry had when he arrived. I see similarites in recruiting, enthusiasm and the will to win. I also see similarities in the type of program each had when Coache's Fry and Dodge arrived. Be patient.....Coach Dodge is a keeper.
  7. OldTimer- Got to agree with you. Coach Dodge inherited a group of players that were not very talented. Of course NT has a sprinkling of shining stars but not an abundance. Dodge's recruiting ability is phenominal since he has been hired. Remember, he only had about a three week recruiting window his first year and we were all excited about the quaility of players he was able to commit to our program. He had another excellent recruiting class this year. We may have another losing season this year but he is building upon success and make no misconceptions that Coach Dodge has a winning drive and attitude that I have not seen since Coach Fry. For anyone to start comparisons to Coach Dickey is unconscionable and even to suggest that the coaching staff is not doing their job is absurb. The PROBLEM is the quality of players and depth that were inherited. Everyone, be patient....and realize that Coach Dodge did not have much to work with when he arrived. We may, realistically, win 4 or 5 games this year but that in itself is a victory for our program but next year may be the break out year for NT. You can either support our current athletic program and our coaching staff or start jumping ship like a bunch of scared rats. Another positive is that we a pro athletic President which NT has not had since President "Jitter" Nolen, over 30 years ago. With the combination of a pro athletic President and if not the best "all around" coach NT has had, since the mid to late 60's (when my butt graced the wooden bleachers of Fouts), I truely believe that Coach Dodge & Prez "B" will make this program a winner.....make no mistake.
  8. Models and videos are nice to see but my question is what about the money. Is it fact or fiction that when we get $30,000,000 we can start building?? My question is how much more money does UNT need to start "if" the mythical number is 30 mil?

  10. OK, here is what Obama will do .... and ..... we know what Palin stands for: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ELECTION 2008 See for yourself how Obama's values defy America's 'Audacity of Deceit' asks whether we really want 'change' he has in mind -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted: September 02, 2008 9:32 pm Eastern By Drew Zahn © 2008 WorldNetDaily On the heels of the New York Times multi-week No.1 best-selling book, "Obama Nation," comes another potentially explosive look into the real politics of Barack Obama from WND Books called "The Audacity of Deceit: Barack Obama's War on American Values." "'The Audacity of Deceit' is the perfect complement to Jerome Corsi's 'Obama Nation,'" says Joseph Farah, founder of WND Books. "I think there is a strong market still for more information on Obama – a lot of material left unaddressed." In "The Audacity of Deceit," author Brad O'Leary zeroes in on Obama's domestic policy prescriptions, demonstrating how Obama's campaign promises would affect average Americans should the Democrat be elected president. O'Leary, the former NBC Westwood One talk show host who has authored 11 books and penned political columns for USA Weekend that drew 90 million readers, looked at the potential consequences of an Obama administration and reached the following conclusions: Obama will be a radical on the abortion issue as signaled by his blocking of emergency medical aid for babies who survive abortion; Obama will attempt to ban the use of firearms for defense by law-abiding citizens; Obama will raise tax rates up to 60 percent; Obama will push for health care reforms that will let government determine which procedures and operations senior citizens are allowed to have; Obama will "transform the U.S. Treasury into the United Nations' ATM"; Obama will choke off America's domestic energy resources, sending gas, electricity and food prices through the roof; Obama will raise the percentage of Americans who pay no taxes at all, from 30 percent to 40 percent – at the expense of those who do; Obama will transfer child-rearing responsibility and authority from parents to the federal government with his "0 to 5" program. (Story continues below) Asked why he wrote "The Audacity of Deceit," O'Leary explained, "Not long ago at a family gathering, I discovered that some of my six daughters and five grandchildren were thinking about voting for Barack Obama – yet they didn't know his views on key issues." O'Leary began writing a long letter to his loved ones, inviting them to study Obama's values and positions before making such a decision. The letter demonstrated how an Obama presidency would radically alter the face of American values and limit opportunities for future generations. The letter he wrote developed into this new, sure-to-be-controversial book. In one chapter of "The Audacity of Deceit" called "The Barack Obama Test," O'Leary gathers polling results from America's top pollsters, including Zogby, Rasmussen, Gallup and CNN, demonstrating how Obama's positions on a broad array of issues are in stark contrast to the values held by the vast majority of Americans. People can see the contrast for themselves at www.BarackObamaTest.com, where visitors can take a 39-question survey to see how closely their values line up with Obama's professed positions. The book's website also allows anyone to download a free chapter of their choice from the book, including a chapter with exclusive Zogby polls – never before published and available nowhere else – that detail the differences in political views between the 70 percent of Americans who pay federal income taxes and the 30 percent who do not. Through the poll results, O'Leary reveals for the first time who the non-taxpaying Americans are – detailing their income levels, education, marital status, and even religious practices – and who they plan to vote for. The book is set for nationwide release Tuesday, Sept. 9, but the book is immediately available from WND's online store, Shop.WND.com, at a reduced price of just $19.99. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Related offers: "The Audacity of Deceit: Barack Obama's War on American Values" Get Jerome Corsi's "The Obama Nation," autographed by the author, exclusively from WND's online store. 12. Some of you sound like rats getting ready to jump the ship when it is not sinking. KSU is just one game out of 12. We all knew how bad the team was when we hired TD and we all knew that it would take more than two years to be competitive. Be patient.......TD has done a tremendous job of getting excellent recruits committed to NT and our program. Even "IF" NT could have hired the very best coach in D-1 to coach for NT he would have been faced with the same caliber of players that TD has......and.......IMHO, that is not much. NT does have some excellent players at some positions but not all positions. TD will right the ship but not last Saturday, maybe not this Saturday and maybe not this year but he will. Be PATIENT!!
  13. who wins in the SBC? FIU @ Iowa (L)........................not enough talent UAB @ FAU (W)......................snelly factor plus UAB not that talented LaMo @ Ark (L).......................close game after last weeks near defeat Tx. 15. K-State is only one game out of 12......and...... for those with green glasses, 13. I did not give too much chance of a UNT win but thought if we could cover the spread it would be a victory. Don't worry, Coach Dodge will get things on track offensively and Coach Deloach will get things done defensively. Coach D will have a much more difficult time and may take an extra year to get the "D" to where it was under Coach Dickey. Got to admit there is not too much talent on the "D" side of the ball. Vizza and Co. will only have to do one thing........score more to make up for the lack of, obvious, talent of the "D." For those who want to take a swing at that statement ..... how many PPG did UNT give up defensively last year?.....face it, our "D" needs talent.
  16. CG- Bork, is a constitutional conservative attorney.....and his view point is that the Civil Right's Act was well meaning as it was originally designed but now has expanded to protect other groups of citizens including women, all minorities and all the other special interest groups including homosexuals, trans-sexuals and all other "down trodden classes." I "agree" with the original intent along with everyone else, however, Bork points out that along with the expansion of protectionism for all special groups taxes have been raised to fund the ever expanding tenticals of the octopus we call government and the "dumbing down" of our educational systems to accomodate egalitarianism thoughout schools. He expands his thesis to include hiring in the workplace. Naturally, his book and sources are documented. D'Souza's, who is a first generation immigrant from India in 1991, approach is to present the facts from both sides but everything he says is documented from various government and personal souces. D'Souza and Bork's conclusions are identical. Their "basic" conclusion is that when equality was instituted it quickly turned to radical egalitarianism from the various special interest groups which in turned destroyed all classes of our citizens from our schools to our workplace. One may say that the Civil Right's Act of 1964 produced the opposite effect of its intentions. That is to say, instead of unifying the country under equality it began to Balkanize the United States into distinct classes and groups thus producing annimosity and the beginning of class cultural conflicts. Unfortunately, we can see the results in the various suits that have been brought to the courts in reverse discrimination rulings throughout the country. Now, in my personal opinion, the Civil Right's Act has created two distinct groups of individuals/classes: (1) placed one group of individuals (I am refering to a total cross section of Americans) in a socialistic environment totally dependant on the government and (2) placed the other group of individuals in a free market society. It is also of my opinion for a democracy to effectively function there must be multiple groups and classes of people. If not, then what we have is socialism. Name me one socialistic government that stayed the course without revolution as its end product? As imperfect or perfect as true republics or democracies may be and swing, as a pendalum between left and right they, for the most part, produce no revolution where the end product is socialism unless there is an overabundance of governmental corruption.
  17. KRAM1 et al- To read two perspectives on the Civil Rights Act read the chapter by Robert Bork (the same Bork who was Bork'ed by Biden in Bork's bid to be nominated for the U.S. Supreme Court) in Slouching Toward Gomorrah and Dinesh D'Souzas excellent book, The End of Racism.

  23. I would be very disapointed if Coach Jones did not get an extention....at least some sort of MULTI-year deal. He is one of the better coaches that NT has had since the Dan Spika era and to loose him would be unconscionable.
  24. the fwst publishes a "noteable" who died in their daily rag & that is where I saw it too. Groucho Marx had to be one of the funniest commedians I have ever seen. Not only in his films but if you ever get a chance to see his TV show, You Bet Your Life, you will really appreciate his quick and intelligent humor (no que cards).....much better than what is on the tube today.
