Gm And Ford Bailout
eulesseagle replied to DeepGreen's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Since my wallet is a government ATM machine for all these bailouts I need some of BHO's distribution of wealth to trickle down my. -

We may disagree with what he said but America, the last I heard, has "Freedom of Speech." Heck, we all heard worse from both parties calling each other names.

IMHO, Coach Dodge has had the two best recruiting classes since the last two recruiting classes of Coach Mitchell in 65 & 66. -
CBL- Jump ship?? I can only point to you reviewing the causes of the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire......please don't read the whole book but just the cause of the fall in the Cliff Note's version. Prez Hoover points to .... at his time in history .... countries that swung from Republics to socialist types of governments after WWI with the emphasis on a large middle class population. Just google all this information and make your own determination. To me, I see simularities in various aspects of each change.

I encourage everyone to vote.....I voted Monday, the first day of early voting..... I am not here to explain the "+" and "-" about the candidates....becuz that has been done a zillion times over the last 24+ months...more or less. All I ask everyone to do is: First, ...... write down "specifically" what YOU believe the govt. should do to represent YOU in YOUR best interests if it be: a) immigration () balanced budgets c) abortion d) military e) social services f) national security g) fairness doctrine h) gun rights i) IRS or other forms of taxation j) whatever else is out there....YOU decide! Second... go on the "net" to each of the "THREE" (Republican, Democrat & Libertarian) websites and determine if their platform is what you believe. Thirdly... go vote as an INFORMED voter. Lastly....this is not a paid political announcement.....all "ANYONE" request of you is to be informed and not base your vote because of some good feeling you have about one of the three candidates without knowing the issues. Heck, my sister still pickes the candidates based on looks....Kerry, Gore, Clinton. I suggest none of you base your votes on physical looks alone.

The $700-B has already increased close to or just over $1-T.....and will continue to grow. Come on folks, when has our govt. ever got financial estimates right? If we really knew the "actual" cost of this bail out ... the bail out would have failed because no congressman would have voted for it. Now Pelosi want to give Americans another stimulus check to shut us up about the "tip of the iceburg" bail out.... I just finished reading, "The Challenge to Liberty" (1934) by Herbert Hoover. If it were not for the date (1934) and the author (HH) you would think that the book was published several months ago. The book deals with the same transformations of govt., then, as what we are experiencing now......along with the governmental consequences that other european countries encountered. I am not going to give a book review....just look it up on the "net" if you are interested.

Everyone knows polls are easily manipulated depending on the demographics you canvas.....or......you just make up numbers for the polling results. All have been done in the past..........and...........present.

There is NO way you can compare BCS schools with mid majors, man for man, when you are comparing freshman and sophmore talent. BCS schools get many more 4 and 5 star players than do mid major schools. However, I do submit that the BCS preponderance, at this level, does exceed similar mid major talent. except after one of Coach Matt Simon's recruiting adventures he did say that UNT's new recruits were just as good as the University of Alabama. Ya'll will have to remember that Coach Dodge has red shirted a lot of recruits. I will again say that except for Coach Mitchell's last recruiting class of 1966 .... Joe Greene and all that bunch ..... Coach Dodge has, IMHO, out recruited all other NT coaches during their first two years, including Coach Fry. I am reminded of a story of some young man who challenged an older wood chopper to a contest. The young guy was just blowin' and goin' but the old guy, every 15 minutes, would sit down for a couple of minutes.......after two hours the old guy won the contest. The young guy congratulated the old wood chopper and said.....BTW......what were you doing sitting down for a couple of minutes during the contest? The old guy said, "sharpening my axe." Coach Dodge is sharpening his axe with the quality of recruits, red shirt players and now the new stadium.

playmaker- MOOT topic AGAIN..... Do you, personally, plan on buying out Coach Dodge's contract??????? If you can't.....then do you really think NT will????? NT ain't that financially endowed. NT does not have the financial boosters like....let's say.....Clemson who let their coach go after going 3-3. Didn't NT buy out Coach Dickey's last year of his contract.....??? NT is kinda like a person who makes minimum wage with no savings in the bank and is faced with replacing an engine in his car. Well, I guess, you can ask the Federal govt. for a bail out to fire a coach, pay for the remaining years on his contract and build a stadium and hire a million dollar a year coach (like smu).....and that, my friend, will solve all our problems. pony up dude.

untbowler....sorry....about the lots of players not that talented.....ok there are numerous players that are talented but are a step or two slower than the prevailing opposition.....how is that?? -
NT came into the game pretty banged up. There were quite a few regulars that did not play or played sparingly. Our freshman db got burnt once on a long pass....looked like he had his head turned the wrong way. Our juco safety db got burnt....but.....in his defense the LaLa player caught the perfect pass in the perfect stride on the perfect route. I really don't think anyone ... anywhere could have defended that play....it was that good.....heck our db was right there and could not knock it down. The Chery play where he ran 95 yards (or so) on a kick off (or punt return).....for a TD.....bodies were flying all over the place....I have no idea how he got out of that mess.....just an anomoly of a play.....that kid is quick and fast.....all night long. IMHO the team is getting better on offense and defense. Like Coach Dodge said on his radio show....the players have to stop giving up "big plays" .... those, he defined as 30+ yards..... IMHO, again, Coach Dodge has recruited some remarkable players to come to NT and everyone should realize that his recruits are only freshmen and sophmores........these are probably the best overall recruits I have seen since Coach Mitchell recruited Joe Green, Hardman, Franklin and Ramsey (and all that bunch).... All you RATS who are jumping ship and only pay attention to the box score should realize that there is more to the game than numbers. The players are improving. There is no "magic pill" to make 18 and 19 year old Dodge recruits play like they have 42 more games under their belt and play like 21, 22 or 23 year olds. The maturity factor ain't there and speed of the college game is different than that of HS. be patient.

Shaft-- It will be your responsibility to:(1) "find" all available coaches who will be willing to accept this position, (2) How much cash they want and how much the BOR is willing to approve. Shaft, you are our hope on finding this info....we are depending on you. Evidently, you are one of the RATS who jumped ship.....dude, just keep on swimming.....and swimming.....and swimming. Dude, the coaches aint the problem..... Lots of injured players. Lots of Freshmen and Sophmores Lots of players who are not that talented. Are you one of the posters that once posted on that vile "Scotty's Board" a couple of three years ago??? This board is quickly becoming the reincarnation of that board. -
FLAWED- TWO DIFFERENT STYLES OF OFFENSE.

so greek- i can't make heads or tails out of your german references? i don't know if you are going to fly a wwI fighter at shoot me out of the sky, red baron style. i don't know if you are going to help plot my assination like Gen. Rommel did to adolf. i don't know if you are coming to my house and break my windows because you think i am jewish. well the two men you did mention were Prussian.....so i guess that is the only association i got out of your post. see ya at the game saturday.

I have watched NT football since Coach Mitchell's last year of 1966. In 1967 Coach Rust became the NT coach and did extremly well with Coach Mitchell's players. However, Rusk failed to capitalize on success and his last couple of years were loosing seasons and NT football traveled into the abyss. Coach Fry took over the program in much the same state as Coach Dodge. He was not too successful initially but built the program into a power until he left for Iowa. BTW, NT could have had his assistant coach Bill Synder .... the same Bill Synder that KSU stadium is named after. Anyway, the program went into the abyss because of changes...we all know what they were. Coach Dickey took over and was successful after about his "fourth" year and recruiting subsided because, IMHO, stealth recruiting. Coach Dodge now takes over reviving a program out of the abyss. The one aspect I have seen with Coach Dodge is his ability to "RECRUIT." I put him in a class of the last couple of years of Coach's Mitchell and Fry on his recruiting ability. The wins will come from quality players. Heck they are only freshmen and sophmores now. I only say this out of having a reference point to the past. Many of you only have a reference point to Coach Dickey and the '90's. Quoner, CG, yyz28 & Smitty......since you can only name call on arguments and have no reference point or can piece together a legitimate argument in rebutal then so be it......I take your trite comments as borish pre-school diatribe. Smitty, I would like to point out, since you referenced my mentioning of morality, Tom Landry when he walked into a team meeting would go to the chalk board and write, "God, Family, Football," and told the team that is the way one should order their lives. Also Smitty, there is a good book review on the ESPN website called, "Ten Men You Meet in a Huddle" concerning Coach Dodd of Georgia Tech. He was quoted as saying that he wanted three things from his team (and I am paraphrasing)....one, go to church, two go to class and three go to football practice. Not unless you want the morality lessons of Barry Switzer of Oklahoma then you make the choice who you would rather have your son go for guidance on a football team. Coach Dodge is a winner that I have only seen two other times since 1966. Just remember there is more to this season than the final W-L record in December.

I stand by my statements......what Coach Dodge inherited was terrible and IMHO no matter who RV, et al, hired for a coach he would have faced the same difficulty.....except.....Coach Dodge can recruit. Nobody seemed to salivate when Coach Dickey got all his players "UNDER THE RADAR" .... essentially, ones that were, essentially, left over after all the other programs did the picking.....yea, we got some good players and don't get me wrong when I say this....we did get our share of players that didn't play for a year because of broken bones but looked good the year they did play. I am saying what Coach Dodge inherited were not that good. One, because most of the players did not fit into his system and two, can you say slow, undersize and way too much body/baby fat? I am excited about his recruits over the last two years (everyone is too because of all the drooling on this board) and everyone should be because it will only get better....I know that and you know that except for the "lynch mob" who wants to throw the mechanic under the bus on its first bump in a long journey. OK, who are ya goin' to get for the next head coach at this salary?? hahahahaha Some of you have so much knee jerk reactions I personally think it is effecting your "logical" judgement and, again, IMHO, it is a wonder that some of you have not been seriously wounded in you whine and cheese parties by all this knee jerking. Like I said, I am not overly concerned about this year but look forward to see Coach Dodge's next recruiting class. Believe me, ya'll drooled at the return of Coach DeLoach.....this man too is a proven winner.
-
JUMP RATS JUMP This goes to show how bad of a program and very sub par talent that Coach Dodge had when he took over the program. IMHO, just about everyone has already forgotten how bad the NT FB program was when Coach Dickey departed. Some of you can say the scores were not as bad but there is a big difference on 2 yards and a cloud of dust and chunk the pumkin. Ya'll were all drooling over yourselves when Coach Dodge was hired and the amazing freshman class he was able to recruit after about 3 weeks or so because of his committment to SLC's playoffs. Ya'll were all drooling over this year's recruits and up to a couple of three games ago nobody could say anything bad about Coach Dodge without being hung out to dry. Ok, now we are 0-5 and just about everyone who was drooling over yourselves and others are now getting the lynch mob ready to turn on the man for, in your feable minds, implement a new system with sub par juniors and seniors who are getting beat out by freshmen and sophmores. How much sense does that make?? Ya'll want to support a winner but when times get a little tough .... then .... ya'll want to jump ship and not even support the "FULL" program. My advise to ya......"good ridance" and have a splendid whine and cheese social because you are not the type of fans that this program needs. Drooling one day and bring out the lynch mob the next. Whew. If some of the current players want to quit because of Coach Dodge's philosophy......let 'em go. At least the parents who are considering letting their son play for NT will feel comfortable with Coach Dodge's reputation that he has built all these years. NT needs this type of man mentoring these young men and developing moral character. I truely believe that next year's class will be better. Coach Dodge needs, at least, four years to right the ship to make it competitive. To me if we go 0-12 or 1-11 I am not disappointed becuase of the level of talent that Coach Dodge is bringing in and if ya'll can't see it then ...... JUMP RATS JUMP! RV is right about the quality of this board....it is disgusting.

Got5onit- Dude, read my post....i said some of you do not have a reference point of past teams as some of us who have watched NT FB for 20-50 years. Your comment about this post is somewhat true and somewhat moot.
-
Again, I have been watching NT play since the mid 60's. I have seen coaches come and go. I have seen the cycles of good and bad over 40 years.....longer than most of you who are alive and not as long as some. This current team's overall talent ain't that good. I wasn't that good two or three years ago. Nobody can turn a team around that is as deficient as this one in one, two or three years. However, for some of you....you think there is some "magic" pill that coaches give student players that will make them grow another two or three inches, gain another 40 pounds, make them a half to one second quicker and jump building in a single bound. It ain't happening. Instead of "reloading" every year NT has to "rebuild" along with most other non-BCS schools. We ain't Notre Dame, Texas or Oklahoma. Believe me when I say this......I have seen a lot of coaches.....some I thought should have never been hired......some I thought should have been hired and were not.....some stayed here a year or two too long......and some were never given a chance.....and one that NT could not afford to financially keep. These ain't the best FB facilities in the world.....NT ain't got the best recruiting budget.....NT ain't got what a lot of other schools have like big buck donors.....but we seem to have an abundance of numb nut whiners who have "NO" starting reference point of past failures and success other than Coach Dickey. Looking back Coach Dickey did the best he could with what he had concerning resources. Evidently, his last couple of years lacked the recruits that NT needed to build upon more bowl games. Coach Dodge is the "REAL DEAL" among coaches that I have seen come to NT but some of you "young guns" do not see this because of no reference point or experience of watching NT football for 20-30-40-50 years. I see an enthusiasm and desire to win in a man that I have not seen in quite some time. Coach D is a motivational speaker and believes what he says as attested by anyone who has ever heard him. He is a proven "WINNER" on and off the field in all endeavors and he brings that to NT. I support the coaching staff and the players and realize that rebuilding, with this current team, will take a little time but am 200% sure that the "ship" is headed in the right direction. Give his new recruits a chance to develop....heck they are only freshmen and sophmores and some of them are beating out juniors and seniors.....what does that tell you of the current state of quality of players. Coach Dodge is the REAL DEAL.

How about throwing June Jones in the mix.....do you think he can, with his million plus contract, revive SMU? H--L what has he done this year? Hum, beat Texas State by 14 at home. You think pony fans will be chunkin' his big buck's butt under Ford this time next year if he only wins two this year and has a comperable record this same time in "09" (after beating another lame duck ..... slc team?). Some of you guys (and I would say girls but CBL supports TD) remind me of rats jumping off a ship because it looks like it may flounder and sink. The ship is not going to sink. TD has brought in excellent HS talent and has the best ties to Texas HS coaches because of his raport with these coaches and his renound QB camps. Talent for talent TD has brought, IMHO, better prospects in two recruiting classes than just about any other NT coach did in their first two years. NT is not a Univ of Texas that "reloads" every year....it must thrive on keeping a rebuilding process going because of depth issues. Heck, UT has 4-star recruits that are bench warmers. NT may not do well this year but who knows?? We know the track record and the will to win of Coach Dodge. We know the track record and what Coach DeLoach can do defensively. Give them time. In this age of "INSTANT" information, "INSTANT" drive thru service, "INSTANT" gratification, "INSTANT" you name it.......football rebuilding ain't that way.....never has.....never will....
