SE- i said the mp's were trying to stop churchill from goading germany into war with the brits.....before poland and about around 1937. hitler wanted the commies not the brits. states rights was an issue prior to the c.w.. i guess that is why virginia and north carolina told the north not to march federal troops, twice, through their states to enforce taxation issues against south carolina prior to the c.w.. read the morell (sp) act and you can determine why the southern states were a bit livid with the policies of the north against the south. if the c.w. was, indeed, fought for slavery why was the u.s. congress, prior to the outbreak of hostilities, were still deciding what states/territiories were to come into the union as free or slave? as far as the number of southerners who owned slaves there are many figures on that issue. however, northerners owned slaves too but, as you know, were not freed by the emancipation proclamation. heck, gen. grant, finally, released his slaves days before he took the oath of office for presidency. Jeff Davis adoped two slave children as his own either prior to or during the c.w.. in Dinesh D'Souza's book, The End of Racism, he points out that the slaves in the u.s. was the "only" place in our hemisphere where slaves were able to procreate. If I remember correctly by the time that the slave trade was illegal in the us (around the first decade of the 1800s) there was approximately 1/2 million slaves....by the time the c.w. began there was approximately 2.5 to 3.0 million. The positive aspect of any of D'Souza's books are that they are heavily documented. the emanicpation proclomation was intended for a slave revolt but its purpose never materialized. nice little read on the taxation issues: http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig/pearlston1.html

eulessismore- what you are saying is correct. read Churchill's War and Hitler's War by David Irving. Sheds some good info. taken from diaries of the combatants. I have no argument on Japan attacking Pearl Harbor. I am just saying that there were underlying causes that Roosevelt used to provoke Japan.

screamingeagle- ***the brit mp's tried to discourage churchill in goading germany into war under the pretext of letting the germans and russians fight then declare war on the winner. ***roosevelt did what he could to force japan's hand in attacking the usa by draconian trade policies. ***war of 1812 did had sentiment on the brits stopping our merchant ships and "shanghaing" our seamen. not so much proganda but the press presented a good case. i will agree that it was an extention of the napoleonic wars. -----i did say there were "other" causes to these conflicts but just stated "one" cause out of many. ***propaganda of the masses occurs on all levels not just republican or democrats.....everyone does it. i was not refering to any one party or ideology. we are all inudated from all directions 24/7 from talk radio, including air america, and on the plethora of cable stations.

what else is new.....to the winners goes the privilage of rewriting history. goebels once said, "if you tell a lie long enough people will start to believe it." prior to WWII churchill asked one of his financial advisors about how are they going to convince the (english) people about the need for war against germany and to paraphrase, the advisor replied to churchill that we will tell them what to think (through the press) and they will follow. press manipulation to propagandize the masses. goes on in democracies as well as socialistic governments. look at all the wars that the americans have fought since the revolution and how the masses were propogandized. revolution: that was pretty much clear cut...independence. war of 1812: stop british intervention civil war: hummmm. how about taxation without representation, again....look at the morell (sp) act. spanish american war: yellow journalism for territorial expansion. it was not about how cruel the spanish were. wwI: save industrialist's investments in europe.....hummm.....sounds familiar....no wonder there were peace movements in the usa prior to wwII....people figured out that they were manipulated wwII: get us out of the depression because economic polices were failing. korea: save the world from communism. gen. marshall's policies about the commies were pro communist. viet nam: save the world from communism. prez kennedy was going to pull us out and lbj put us in. iraq: save the world from terrorism....ok i will stretch it......save the world from communism.....such a great ancronism for war. (there were other causes but these were prime examples but the berevity of this post will limit any further discussion....there has been an overkill of material on all these subjects and some can be found on al gore's 20th century invention....the internet). in the final analysis the people are only pawns in a chess match played by those who wish to get rich off our blood.

The title should have been socialist philanthropy. Agreed, why should philanthropists give to an organization only to have a specific amounts siphoned to other organizations that does not benefit their beliefs? As egregious and socialistic as this, soon to be enactment materializes from mr hope and change, donations will errode and, as the article eluded to, white cultural arts will suffer at the expense of greater funding for blacks and hispanics arts. Granted, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was to stop discrimination through government mandated regulations and begin a new social enginering phase that was to stop the "wedge" of inequality between the races. Enactments such as this, IMHO, only illuminates that certin political groups want to keep the races divided politically and socially, not only for votes but for the class warfare that accompanies the ushering in of socialism. Class warfare is the mantra of socialism. How far have we, as a nation, degressed from the Dr. Martin Luther King's speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial? King preached unity....Obama preaches class warfare.

The world is destined for a one world government in years to come....could be sooner than later. Does it really matter if the world is controlled by a socialistic, democratic or republic form of government?? no. We have seen signs of this control by, let us say, food companies. Smaller companies have been purchased by larger companies .... larger companies are purchased by even larger coglomerates. For example, look at Frito Lay. Owned later, I believe by PepsiCo and now this is owned by some other mega conglomerate in England, I think. Take a look at the banking industry during the last 24 months. You need a score card to figure out who owns who. Bank One bought by Chase who was bought by WaMu. CountryWide bought by Bank of America who once bought out NationsBank. Little by little the smaller fish get devoured by the bigger fish until there is only one fish in the pond. The blood sucker. Internationally, the UN is gaining in power and influence over lnternational laws and regulations. Look also at the International Court. People have been brought to justice at the Hauge (sp?) for years. Milosovich (sp) for one. Died unexpectently while on or awaiting his kangaroo court trial. Crimes against humanity. Hummmm.....that was first brought up at Nurenburg. If it were not for British General Alexander comming to the defense of "Smillin' Jack" Kesselring the Brits may have hung him...but lucky for him the Italians were trying him in Italy. Believe it or not Kesselring was somewhat popular in the eyes of the Italians. I believe US Admiral Nimitz help pursuade the courts not to hang German Admiral Donitz. The list goes on. Crimes against humanity is a cover all indictment againt any crime in an international court covering anything. Coming soon to the US. This ain't conspiracy anymore....it is blantently out in the open. The US Constitution is slowly being usurped by international law. Some folks call it one world government.....because one world government is international law.

perhaps you can, now, become critical of VP Biden for mispeaking that Louisiana is losing 400 jobs a day about a week ago......as starters. Or, become critical about BHO stating no more earmarks when I become Prez. ooooooops......tell me one person who does not mispeak at one time or another??? http://hotair.com/archives/2009/02/26/vide...400-jobs-a-day/ (vp biden and his mispeak) -

flyer....$33,000,000 is $33,000,000 more from us, the taxpayer. what did they do to deserve it, petty cash or not, it is still a raise? Are they rewarding themselves on the trillions they are spending on the so called stimulus package, the 8600 earmarks in the latest spending bill, the billions they are sending to Pakistan (from an earlier post), or the millions they are sending to Gaza? How paradoxical is this when our voted national leaders are mandating the lessening the perks of business yet vote in additional perks for themselves? -

EagleD- Let me get this straight........one retorical error in a 90 minute speech, to me, is almost flawless. How about the other 89 minutes and 55 seconds of his talk that Huffington refused to comment? I am only remined of the phrase, "Extremism, in the defense of liberty, is no vice and that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue." (Goldwater, 1964) I can not remember who said it but I think Churchill said it (Winston not Ward).....and I am not a big fan of Winston and a lesser fan of Ward......and I paraphrase: If you are not a liberal by the time you are 20 you have no heart and if you are not a conservative by the time you are 40 you have no soul. Fortunately, I can never remember a time in my life that I voted for a liberal......maybe one in sheep's clothing......but the first time I voted for president I voted for Wallace. Then voted for him again four years later. I voted for him because of his conservative political policies which were almost to me, at that time, parallel to Goldwater. By this time, in history, Wallace had distanced himself from this seemingly self destructive stance and had appologized for his segregationist views at the steps of the University of Alabama. "To error is human....to forgive, divine." What I have stated is "not" meant to begin another political discussion on segragationism or civil rights.....only.....that people change due to an inherent growing process in our lives. I had a pastor who once said, "There is nothing you can do about your past but you can start today to make a brand new beginning." I will never forget that statement. -

A long time friend of mine, of 40 years, has a son that had the honor of attending Texas A&M, for one year, before transfering to St. Edwards in Austin. He would drive up to Fort Worth and have discussions on the merits of socialism with his main thesis stating that socialism works but the right people have not driven the philosophy appropriately. He did, after one year at A&M, get three people to join his Marxist Society but numerous times could not fathom the number of "rednecks" who reamarked negatively about his Che' T-Shirt and beret complete with the red star emboldened on his headwear. Funny thing is that this was the same philosophy (socialism is sucessful if it is run correctly) of the New Dealers of the early 1930's as was the philosophy of my friend's son. Socailism being an experiement was being administered by Ivy League socialists and a few communists mingled into the fray. Alger Hiss was part of this group and was part of the Agriculture Department. Today, we have a new group of New Dealer's with their philosophy on how to run this ideology and the paradox is that these people know they have the political power, and votes, to accomplish these ideals that have incessantly failed in the past because, " the right people have not driven the philosophy appropriately." -
