Legalize Marijuana ?
eulesseagle replied to NT03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
The only reason for the government to legalize "marijuana" is to TAX it. Besides, what could be more comforting than watching an American Airlines capitan toke up on some Maui Wowie before takeoff. -

Got to agree with those who say that there are "fringe" elements on boths sides, conservative and liberal. IMHO, what we, as a nation, are witnessing now is a greater pursuit of polarization of the culture....that is to say fewer independents. With the massive push of stimulus packages and trillions of spending there will be those who say this is for the betterment of the country because of equality and those who say this is a massive attempt for socialism. With the heated issues, and I emphasize heated issues, are we really going to change the minds of those who already have their minds, emphatically, made up? No. It is paramont to stealing someone's green cool aid. We all know where everyone stands on the issues on this board, right or wrong.....ooooops.....i mean everyone is right. I am one of those who cling to religion and guns......Christian Conservative. I even have an old Berry Goldwater sign, framed, in my livingroom.....imagine that. I disagree, sometimes, emphatically with those who "can not" or "will not" support their position with some form of intellegent commentary instead of trite phrasiology. Personally, I would, still, like to hear from any liberal how they support the massive trillion dollar stimulus. Geeeze....we have heard the conservative side. -

IMHO I really do not think that anyone on this board is a racist. Personally, I would assume that everyone would like to wipe the slate clean and begin anew. 'nuf said. agree?? ee -

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124704550659510745.html Interesting article. Points out that China and India are against Kyoto (aka: Cap and Trade) because it would slow their economic growth. These two countries, who are in their own version of an "industrial revolution," who are some of the worst polluters would, at least, like to see some sort of economic growth and a better standard of living for their people.......as I take it. That is natural. Why not let their people enjoy a higher standard of living? Less likely of a social revolution. As for the Europeans and Japanese who want to "slow" or not abide by the Kyoto Accords (aka: Cap and Trade) it is also economic for them. Even the European style socialism is taxed heavily upon their people and another tax on goods and services will decrease the standard of living that Europeans have, somewhat, come to embrace. Two interesting parallels come to mind. One, our current socialist democrats want to "jump" into a European style government run health care system while our friends, across the pond, are trying to get out of it and go with privitization or more privitization. Even England and Germany have warned us not to go where they have been. Two, with really no industrialized country 100% on board with Kyoto (aka: Crap and Trade) they envision a drastic slow down of economic growth and everything that comes with stagnation (i.e. lay offs.....more taxes for the growing welfare roles......ect ect......then more taxes for a decrease of personal funds....possibly more bankruptcies.....and the "ball of twine" grows). My intreptation of the bottom line is that industrialized countries see Kyoto (aka: Crap and Trade) as a fast track to state bankruptcy. So why is Barry Soetoro (aka: B Hussain Obama) and his minions, on "the hill," forcefully getting the American people involved in such endeavors when all other countries are against the principles?

Let us see who else quit: Barry Soetoro (aka B. Hussain Obama).....didn't he "quit" his Illinois position? Hillary (stand by your man) Clinton..........didn't she "quit" her N.Y. position? My main question to all the socialist liberals is: Why does Gov. "baracuda" Palin scare you and the media? Perhaps you can defend you position with more than your atypical ten word ad hominum sentences. This may require you to actually think and use the phrasiology that you have heard from MSNBC, CNN, Public Radio, Katie Couric and Oprah......oh yea, could it be that these people do the thinking for you or do you have any independent thoughts that ya'll would like to share?? This is a time to share your political philosophy. Please do not answer if this question is "above your pay grade." -

what scares the "left" about Gov. Palin? What is it about her that threatens their well being?? is it being a woman? is it being a governor? is it having a daughter that had a child out of wedlock? is it being married to a minority? is it having a special needs child? i thought that those were the intrinsic values of the left? -

well, at least she did not: 1. drive drunk into a deep stream and leave a love interest to drown like kennedy. 2. did not let him male lover run a prostitution ring out of his apartment like barney frank. 3. have sex with intern like joe bob clinton. dudes the list of impropriety goes on for both sides.....political figures get caught too. 10. Sen. Daniel Inouye. The 82-year-old Hawaii Democrat was accused in the 1990s by numerous women of sexual harassment. Democrats cast doubt on the allegations and the Senate Ethics Committee dropped its investigation. 9. Former Rep. Gus Savage. The Illinois Democrat was accused of fondling a Peace Corps volunteer in 1989 while on a trip to Africa. The House Ethics Committee decided against disciplinary action in 1990. 8. Rep. Barney Frank. The outspoken Massachusetts Democrat hired a male prostitute who ran a prostitution service from Frank’s residence in the 1980s. Only two Democrats in the House of Representatives voted to censure him in 1990. 7. Former Sen. Brock Adams. The late Washington Democrat was forced to stop campaigning after numerous accusations of drugging, assault and rape, the first surfacing in 1988. 6. Former Rep. Fred Richmond. This New York Democrat was arrested in 1978 for soliciting sex from a 16-year-old. He remained in Congress and won re-election—before eventually resigning in 1982 after pleading guilty to tax evasion and drug possession. 5. Former Rep. John Young. The late Texas Democrat increased the salary of a staffer after she gave in to his sexual advances. The congressman won re-election in 1976 but lost two years later. 4. Former Rep. Wayne Hays. The late Ohio Democrat hired an unqualified secretary reportedly for sexual acts. Although he resigned from Congress, the Democratic House leadership stalled in removing him from the Administration Committee in 1976. 3. Former Rep. Gerry Studds. He was censured for sexual relationship with underage male page in 1983. Massachusetts voters returned him to office for six more terms. 2. Former Rep. Mel Reynolds. The Illinois Democrat was convicted of 12 counts of sexual assault with a 16-year-old. President Bill Clinton pardoned him before leaving office. 1. Sen. Teddy Kennedy. The liberal Massachusetts senator, who once klilled a yourg woman working for his campaign he was having a sexual tryst with, testified in defense of nephew accused of rape, invoking his family history to win over the jury in 1991. -

California is the "poster child" of how not to run a government. Run by elected Republicans, yes. Running a government by fiscally irresponsible individuals, regardless of party, is still irresponsibility. If the U.S. government bails out the $25 Billion --or so-- indebtedness that California owes today what are the gurantees that California will reform its tax and spend, spend and more spend policies in lieu of a balanced budget? There are none!!! You and me along with the folk in the other "49" will pay the penalty tax to bail out fiscally irresponsibility. Important thought: If B.Hussain Obama agrees to bailout California what lessons are to be learned by that state's government??? None!!! It only means that fiscal irresponsibility can be alieviated by U.S. taxpayer dollars. What does this mean to the other "49 states?" Well, it does open the door to more fiscal irresponsibility knowing that Uncle Obama has us, the U.S. taxpayer, to bail out more states. California got itself in their own mess by: 1. Giving away their states social benefits to illegals...........welfare, school, hospitals...etc. 2. Imposing greater taxes on business....to help pay for #1. 3. Imposing greater taxes on individuals....to help pay for #1. 4. Octomom types. 5. Increasing a plethora of social benefits for those California citizens already out of work or on welfare. Is it irresponsible to give out so much social benefits to so many people where California hospitals have had to shut their doors because of bankruptcy? Two edge sword. The correct answer is within limits and not near enough to have people live comfortably off these benefits and only for a short period of time and not as a life long social income. Let California get itself out of its own self destructive fiscal behavior. Will some people suffer because of the drastic cutback of social services? yep. California only has it legislatures to blame. Perhaps the people will speak at the ballot box next time.

EagleD....I am afraid it was Franken who kept appealing and recounting the ballots until he won. His campaign mgr was the same guy who replicated the same vote counting scam two or three other times for Democratic candidates. Franken will be one term because, essentially, he is an idiot. Sorry, it was the same state that elected Jessie Ventura as governor. Maybe it is in the water from the state of 10,000 taxes.....as the people up there like to refer to their state. http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/04...for-recount.php http://www.pubrecord.org/politics/501-fran...nn-recount.html

Not really a coup in the general sense of the term. The military was acting on order from the legislature and supreme court to uphold the constitution......you know....."the rule of law." _____ Amazing that B.Hussain Obama would like to see the Honduran dictator, who was removed, be placed back in office....thus usurping the Constitution.....almost kinda like what he has been doing here......you know like owning an auto company, owning some banks, attempting to nationalize health care, firing heads of private companies, forcing banks to take TARP $$, getting ready to let ACORN do the census, firing government employees for investigating his buddies for embezlement......the list kinda goes on but I hear my nurse coming down the hall to give me my medications and force me to take a nap. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz -
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=hj111-5 Are the Democrats serious to try to repeal the limitations that a president can serve?? Currently, B. Hussain Obama is supporting the Honduran President to serve additional terms against that countries Constitutional law.

I hope nobody is assuming that citizens making more than $250,000 are going to pay for the "Trillion$ of dollar$ from all this spending? Of course the middle class is going to pay..... When Cap and Trade passes everyone will pay more on the cost of consumer goods. You just can not run up this "MASSIVE" debt without paying for it.......i mean everyone paying for it. If you do not have an energy efficient house you may get taxed on that...... I believe in England you either get taxed more or fined if your home is not energy efficient. Some sort of energy police go around with some sort of heat detection device and scan your home for effeciency.
