Government Controlled Press
eulesseagle replied to UNT90's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
There is so much propaganda that is thown out by all sides of the press it is difficult to determine what is truth. Do I believe all the folks that the democrats parade in front of the camera stating that they have been denied health care? heck no. If an illegal walks across our border and into an emergency room are they denied? heck no. Under our "old" system, in reality nobody was denied health care. How about 'ol Joseph McCarthy? Look at the democratic machine demonizing him for saying that communists were imbedded in our government from the FDR administration. Yea, he was 100% correct. You could say he was BORKED. How about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas? After one of his initial grillings by the Democrats his mother stated that she would never vote for another democrat as long as she lived. Gulf of Tonkin Incident? Tapes indicate that no warship was ever fired upon. Result: about 56k dead in Nam. As days and months go by it will be interesting to find out how congressmen were financially compensated for their votes. Well, that is on both sides. IMHO, congressmen should wear patches on their suits, much like NASCAR, to indicate who is sponsoring them, financially. Propaganda. All I know is that under Bushs' last fiscal year the debt was about $450 Billion and now it is over $1 Trillion PLUS. All I know is that the government controls just about all aspects of this culture including Social Security which they say will be totally bankrupt in 20 years.....heck, it has been bankrupt for the last 30 years. It is nothing more than an additional tax to run the government so the govt. can print more money to pay retirees. Transportation....all subsidized. Agrigulture/Cattle....all subsidized. Auto Industry....Government Motor Company (GMC). Health Care (UNT90 may disagree because it does not go into effect for four more years....but just incase nothing happens)...govt. run. Banking...govt. run....just look at all the controls. Student loans, now govt run. Oil and gas....govt. controlled.... Are conservatives wrong in their assumptions of a greater centralized government? heck no....just look around. Any conservative attempt to de-centralize these programs are met with the standardized ad hominum attack. At least Al Sharpton was honest this last week when he stated that the American people voted for socialism and that is what "we" (the BHO admin) are giving them. This socialization of America has been going on for over 80 years with bigger in roads from the FDR, LBJ and now the BHO administrations. And that ain't propaganda. -
Over the last year there has been much discussion concerning the negatives and positives of the new health care bill. Depending upon where one stands on this volitile issue one aspect is that it covers all Americans regardless of pre existing conditions. Conversley, this program will take one-sixth of our G.N.P.. From a Democratic Party point of view do they feel that the Republicans will nulify or abolish the new HCB between now and "IF" the Republicans begin to take control of Congress?? The answer is NO. Reason: History shows that once social programs have been enacted, such as this HCB, LBJ's Great Society (which name was taken from British Fabianism), or FDR's New Deal the opposition party has "NEVER" repealed any of this social legislation once they took power. Currently, the Obama administration wants to, basically, nationalize the financial industry, overhaul and naturalize 30 million illegals by the end of 2010. Begining in 2011 the federal government will have control of our health care (BHO), financial industry (BHO), immigration (BHO), agriculture and cattle (FDR), social security (FDR), medicare/medicade (LBJ), welfare (LBJ) our federalized/subsidized transportation system (various) and all TAXING authority to enforce these social programs. What remains? The media. We all know that the government never estimates taxes correctly.....always lowball's estimates. If the pendelum swings forcefully to the right will the Republicans begin to dismantle this bloated socialized system. I still say no. It is here to stay.

With the price of oil on the continual rise of over $80 per barrel why does the U.S. Congress lay dormant in drilling so that we can become energy independent? http://washingtontimes.com/news/2010/mar/18/obama-surrenders-gulf-oil-to-moscow/ http://www.adn.com/2008/06/12/434045/china-drilling-for-oil-off-florida.html With the restrictions placed on our oil and gas companies we have become the slaves to those countries that have the readied supplies to sell at their price. Case in point. Look at the E.U. who is dependent upon the Russian reserves in their country. Look how much we are dependent upon other countries. The United States has plenty of reserves that we can get at now and help drive down the price of oil if we pump it like a prostitue. At the same time we can always explore alternative fuels that will make us independent in the future. However, the future is now....pump it.

Over 17,000 deaths in Mexico since Prez Calderon took office. http://laht.com/article.asp?ArticleId=353644&CategoryId=14091 Of course all this is spilling into the United States with Mexican and Central American drug gangs roaming our streets, please do not be naive. Look at the most notorious, MS-13 with chapters all over the United States. Personally, I could really care less if the drug gangs kill each other but what scares me more than anything else is the innocent toll it takes on unsuspecting families that are in the wrong place or who are mis-identified by the gangs. One only has to read past stories of Mexican officials and their families moving to the United States to keep from getting killed....and most recently the police chief of Juarez.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/03/17/obama-tells-fox-news-procedural-spat-health-vote-doesnt-worry/ Obama: "I don't worry about the procedural rules in the House or Senate." To uphold the Constitution of the United States means nothing to BHO. Now, the House can accept the Senate health bill WITHOUT voting it BUT voting "ONLY" on a PACKAGE OF CHANGES to the bill. That way Democratic House members can go back home and say they "never" voted for the health care bill. I am innocent, I didn't rob the bank ... the only thing I did was drive the get away car. In this case doing nothing is doing something and that is the Democrats "are" voting for it. The American people, as a whole, are not that stupid. The Old Dominion State, last week, passed a bill stating that its citizens do not have to accept a federally mandated health bill that forces everyone to purchase health insurance. Other states are lining up to challenge the constitutionality of this bill. Should be interesting.

Personally, I am glad to see Baylor and UL-M do a Home 'n Home. To me it shows that the SBC may be looking at more 1-1 or 2-1 splits with BCS schools instead of loading up on body bag games with no return visit(s). For example, look at MTSU and the BCS schools they play at home. To me that is impressive.

Espn Reports Bho
eulesseagle replied to eulesseagle's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
When I first read the story I was a little flabergasted about the audacity but after a little thought I really do not think that this will pass in full. However, we may see some restrictions on how much one can catch in American waterways but see a greater restriction off our coastlines, probably, because of some United Nations agreement. I, like other conservatives, see a large powergrab by our government to become completely centralized.....a nice way of saying socialistic in nature. The more one throws all the "little stuff" against the wall.....like this fishing legislation.....some of these trite pieces of legislation may sneak through and pass. The big question is "IF" the Republicans start winning seats in Congress and at one point take over the Presidency and both houses of Congress will they repeal all these pieces of legislation? Will a Republican majority begin to drastically cut federal spending in "ALL" areas or will they do nothing? They have basically done nothing in the past to repeal Democrat legislation and my fear is they will continue this m.o.. -
Global Cooling?
eulesseagle replied to UNT90's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
interesting comparison.....depends if your fear is eternal (the fear of the Lord is the begining of knowledge) or temporal (the fear of the government is __________ (you fill in the blank)). -
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100304/ap_on_re_us/us_university_cuts_protests it would appear that college students would understand the word meaning of deficit, bankrupt and entitlement in state and federal government. are they not connecting the dots or do they want another "grecian senario?" people are going to have to realize that the american entitlement mentality has to end with deep cuts in "all" entitlement programs or we, as a nation, face selling off chunks of america like what germany is asking greece to do to pay its e.u. debts. who knows, the united states may have already done that by making natural oil, gas & timber lands off limits to drilling/cutting by making them natural wildlife reserves.

Global Cooling?
eulesseagle replied to UNT90's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
"There's no danger for the passengers as long as there's food and drink on board," Lindvall told The Associated Press. That was the best line of the story. Plenty of (free) drink is a passenger's dream. Just assuming but I would immagine that sernario would be played out to placate the passengers. Get ready for Al Gore to switch gears and try to tax us on global cooling.....and how it is man's fault. It is the job of politicians to keep the unwashed masses ignorant, confused, scared and divided against one another so they can get rich off our taxes. -
Are we going to play K-State at Fouts or the new stadium?? what are the odds?

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/feb/26/obama-listens-at-health-summit-but-mostly-hears-fr/ what concerne me was obama ending the summit with the statement of, and i paraphrase, i don't care what you (republicans) want we are going to pass this bill and let the people decide at the polls if they like it because that what elections are for. 1. arrogance. 2. we can not pay for all the entitlements we currently have. 3. this is 17% of our economy. 4. america is currently bankrupt without this bill. on the other side if you agree or not it is constitutional if the dems go reconciliation and pass this with 51 votes. it is not like bush did not use reconciliation. if it does pass the dems will take a beating in nov. 2010 elections. unfortunately bho will be with us another 2 1/2 years.

"let's Just Talk" Diplomacy
eulesseagle replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
eulessismore, I believe that it would be difficult to find "any" politician, or any of us, that have not spoken irresponsibly at anytime in their career, including myself. If anyone is looking for a "perfect speak" candidate there are none. The whole internet is full of mis-speaks. What I believe is more important is the issues that the candidate represents and has voted for than a couple of gaffs, well meaning or not. As far as what candidate Medina stands for is in this link: http://www.medinafortexas.com/commonSense.php#governmentRole Makes sense to me. Basically what this comes down to is do we want continued spending and higher spending and more debt which leads to higher taxes on all consumer goods or at what point do we, as Texans or the American people, wake up and decide that government programs "must" be cut to survive. A banker friend of mine told me that low income individuals are now cashing their income tax checks which average about $6,500. I do not fault anyone for being in that particular situation but you, me and all other tax payers are footing that bill. We also discussed that with the increase of taxes there are always those on the cusp of bankruptcy or those just above the welfare line. As taxes are raised the more individuals fall through to the welfare rolls which will require greater taxation on those above the poverty line. At some point something has to give and hopefully it will not be riots in the streets as what Greece is experiencing. I would only suggest of those who are interested read some english language newspapers from europe to get a grasp of what may come here on our current course of tax and spend. Is this just the democrats? no. Is this just the republicans? no. what social programs have either side ridded itself of when the other party "owned" congress? Government just keeps getting bigger and just about all congressmen say we can not cut this because it is one of the holy grail programs. I would vote for any candidate who would state that thier only goal is to reduce the size of government and start cutting "all" government programs. Well that is a pipe dream that will never come true. -
"let's Just Talk" Diplomacy

eeally's comment is just about as good as SE's comment that the republicans want to bring the USA back to the 19th century.
