  1. 1. how much to buy out TD. 2. then ask RV how much NT has to spend on a new coach. 3. why not Canales if RV pulls the plug. IMHO, I hope TD gets his 5th year.....because the man has been plauged with adversity since signing the dotted line. It is almost taking a two legged dog to a Del Rio dog fight.
  2. Not to defend RD but NT has not been able to win too much with any freshman or sophmore QBs in the last four years. Vizza (fresh/soph), RD (R/fresh), Thompson (soph) now RD again. Not too much luck with Tune either but then his only starts were against Alabama, Clemson and Rice. Nothing personal to anyone but I think it would be nice to have a QB not quit or get injured for the rest of the season for a change. To FFR: nice post.....but how many of those changes were due to other players getting injured etc. if any??? There have been so many changes, injuries, grade problems, racial allegations.....dang (not to steal one of PMG's words), I have lost track. I just hope that RD does not go down in the FAU game. One last note I heard that Pepto Bismol and TUMMS are bidding for naming rights to the new stadium.

  4. Ok, what is the status on Thompson's fibula?? What another QB down and maybe out for most of the year or season? That is being snake bit. Emmitt, I would love to be your supervisor. Would make sure you could make all the games, give you a cush desk job until I get COPS to film in Garland and make you the ride around guy.....you will be famous.
  5. What if some gomeangreener went into a coma six years ago and woke up today and started reading these posts. Deja Vu Deja Vu?
  6. Coach Dodge has been snake bit at the QB position. year 1 and 2..........Vizza (fresh/soph).. just ups and quits. year 3................RDodge (R/fresh).... injury prone all year. year 4................Tune (Sr.)..........his third start dislocates his hip. year 4................Thompson (soph)......1st start today. IMHO, the QB position is the most important and there has been no consistance since Coach Dodge has been at NT. Now we have a soph, Thompson, with really no D1 experience and injury prone and weak armed RDodge as a back up. I bet TUMMS is making a fortune in the Coach Dodge household. I think we have to admit that NT has a talented team but geeeeeze.....give the coach a steady and healthy QB for at least two or three years. With that said I would bring the coach back for another year.
  7. Booger Kennedy Jamario Thomas NT would be out of their mind if we could not get these former players to be the HC.
  8. Every year about this time ya'll want to fire the coach. Ya'll can go back to the Coach Dickey era and read the same trite posts. How much money do you have to get the "big guns" in here??? what if ... what if ... what if Nobody here has any money to get a big name coach to come to NT!! Never has....never will.
  9. Ok emmitt I will say it.....they are fair weather fans. We all know the type. They will only support when you are doing well and dump you like a two bit you know what when things get a little tough & care commonly called quitters. They would be the ones who departed the Alamo before the fighting started. I have seen enough good teams, bad teams and everything in between along with some really bad games to some exciting games in all my years. Win or loose I'm there. It's not about who the coach is or who the AD is or who is playing or not playing it is about sport and watching a bunch of guys playing football on Saturday night. Lastly, it is about seeing people you have not seen in a while and catching up.
  10. I think everyone has to admit that Coach Dodge has been a little snake bit so far at UNT. As PMG stated in another post UNT has been a virtual graveyard of coaches except for Coach Fry. Dodge's first year he started a true freshman at QB (Vizza) along with the very very sub par players (generally speaking with the exception of a few) from Coach Dickey's era. Dodge has experienced racial strife with some of those players, players quiting, having to deal with the loss of some scholarships because of GPA's of some of the team, having to play predominately freshmen and sophmores in his second year .... i guess because the talent level of the fresh/soph were better than the jr/sr.. Dodge's third year was starting RS Fresh RD who was in & out with injuries but at least NT was not getting smoked as much as in his first two years. Lost five or six games by a touchdown or less. This year starting a QB who has seen very limited time since being on the team and now possibly out for the rest of the year. I will have to say that "OLDTIMER" in an earlier post noted that many of our starters were out of the Rice game due to injury....you know like broken bones and sprains. IMHO, Coach Dodge has had to work through some incredible intangebles to get NT to where it is being competitive and still getting quality players to commit to NT. It would be comparable to driving in the Indy 500 and getting a flat on every lap. What I saw last night was that this team can win on both sides of the ball. I think six or seven wins are still duable.
  11. Don't ever insult the Lady Lex....."The Grey Ghost." I did my CQ's on her and she ain't no turd.
  12. I thought the game was the best "overall" effort on both sides of the ball in the Dodge era. NT started out a little shakey letting the long pass go through for a TD and the four or five dropped passes in the first quarter and a couple of bad punts giving Rice excellent field position but after the first quarter NT played really pretty steady and consistant. Can not do anything about the two 50 yard field goals from Rice. Nice kicks. NT did stop Rice in the "Red Zone" one time then blocked a field goal. In every game there are going to be break away plays as was exhibited last night from both teams. Thompson looked really good as a back up.....but....you have got to ask yourself is NT snakebit at the QB position in the Dodge era by QB injuries. Just hope Tune is ok. The biggest negative about the game was not having the NT dancers on our side of the field. The biggest positive was the crowd staying until the end. This was the second game of the season and I feel certain that NT can still win six....maybe seven games.
  13. IMHO, I thought they played really well tonight on both sides of the ball.
  14. i did not hear the post game show on the way home....
  15. sounds as though these guys are still big fans to go tailgating and drive home to watch the game. for a school bus driver, maybe making ten bucks an hour, $65 bucks for him and then taking a couple of other kids is $195 without cokes, hot dogs and program. If this guy's only job is school bus driving that is probably a weeks salary. Bottom line.....he is still a fan and that is all what counts. He still bleeds burnt orange....just like the saying goes, "God made the evening sky burnt orange because He is a really big fan." If Texas is selling Texas A&M tickets for $100 why are we selling Kansas State tickets for $35?? KSU's cheapest ticket probably does not come close to this price.
  16. Jody Medord. When I lived in Houston he and I attended the same Sunday School class and began to hang out a little bit. That is when he told me he played for Rice in the early-mid seventies, drafted by Houston then played in the Canadian Football League where he came in second to the Smirnoff Trophy (the best football player in the CFL). Had tons of funny football stories but his best stories were the ones where he led other team mates and other opponents to Christ. He ran some sort of missionary outreach program in Houston and every now and then some ex footballer would drop by his apartment for a talk. Medford was one of the finest people I have known....intellegent, humble and funny.
  17. UNT showed up for Clemson and appeared to me that UNT played really well against a much more talent laden team...... Coach Canales developed a much improved offense that moved the ball and controlled the clock. Coach DeLoach did a great job on the defensive side of the ball. Still got hit with a couple of big plays but what team does not in the course of some game? Considering what NT has looked like and what scores have been posted against UNT on the "first" game of the season against BCS powers everyone will have to admit that UNT vs. Clemson was a pleasant surprise even in the loss. So what if Rice put up 17 against Texas. Saturday at 6 p.m. at Fouts Field is another day, another Saturday and another oppenent. What if Rice puts up 14 against NT? Does that make NT better than Texas? What if we have another NAVY type score and win? Does that make us No. 1 in the nation? ANY GIVEN SATURDAY ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. I think the pieces of the puzzle have come together just like planetary convergence. NT wins.
  18. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100908/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/cb_cuba_fidel_castro_5 duh! Glad to see it almost took Fidel "Forest Gump" Castro a half a century to figure that out. He said it on Wednesday, Jenny died on Thursday.
  19. 1972 Olympics in Munich.....hope this does not repeat itself....USA vs. USSR.......... how many remember this?
  20. Austin College vs. whoever they were playing in Sherman in '63 or '64 followed by SMU at TCU. I was hooked on college football after that.
  21. I think with Coach Dodge losing six games by a touchdown or less last year and having to play with Freshmen, Red Shirt Freshmen and a Sophmore in his first three years, IMHO, I think the man has been snakebit at one of the most important positions on the offensive side of the ball. Now NT is going into Coach Dodge's fourth season with back up Senior Tune now as QB. Won a state title at Celina, played well against Alabama and did a admirable job as the QB at the end of last year. There is no doubt that NT has the talent on both sides of the ball but the question still remains how well will Tune and his now sophmore back up will do this year? I believe our new offensive coordinator will have the problems fixed just by his vast experience. NT wins six or seven.....maybe eight or nine with the right breaks coming our way.
  22. ULM over Alabama in 2007
  23. Sounds like TSU is a perfect fit the new and improved WAC.
  24. CBL, lay off the coffee and cigarettes.
  25. Wardly, I never mentioned bb in my post. However, attendance with a program of over 20+ wins over the last several season does seem to be one of those unexplained anomolies of the universe.
