Smart move by Benson if true. Forces Tech's hand by joining now or being passed over for UTSA. If Benson forces schools to sign exit fee clauses, it may force our hand or face burning our pocketbook a la Fresno St/Nevada.

Just to make a point, but I think Texas St has a lot more fans than UTSA. UTSA played @ SHSU this year and traveled a handful. Just because they came to the homegames in SA doesn't mean they're true fans, a lot of gimmick/freebie takers there. Texas St has a lot more tradition and alums in DFW., we have a history with them - I guarantee they'd bring more to Apogee than UTSA.

I think his future is very bright at 25 yrs young. It helps to be the son of a broadcaster (Roger Emrich, PA for Cowboys now). Maybe I'm biased, he married one of my friends.

I don't see how this argument is really valid anymore, they would be FBS by the time they would be joining the belt. Some Belt schools haven't been at this level very long.

The problem is that the number of huge sun belt fans is pretty low. You've gotta be pretty into your school to go take the extra step to seek it out through netflix, much like MG premium for example. You may capture a few more this way, but I'm not sure it's enough to support the amount of $ required to capture all the games. A lot of people watching the MAC games aren't MAC fans at all, just general college football fans flipping through the channels.

While UTA has a nice new venue, their 2nd home game drew fewer against in-state Texas St than our last home game against MTSU.

I didn't much care about SMU when I went to UNT. I moved here from Canada so I didn't know what this was all aboot. But then I moved to SMU territory (Uptown/HP area) about a year and a half ago and I now understand. I do work with one SMU alum who I get along with very well, but he's not a trust funder.
