  1. Fudge hype. Fudge hype. Hype or not, we somehow managed NOT to lose to a non-D1 team for 27 years. Trilli didn't do it. This same team, more short handed and with less talent, won 18 games last year and was one minute away from the NCAA tournament. Don't talk about hype. This is about incompetence.
  2. If Neil McCarthy had an illegitimate kid with Shanice, and Trilli adopted him to teach in-game strategy... That feels like about where we are right now.
  3. Or push someone else off it.
  4. Um, obviously they left him out of "the loop". Would anyone want to swordfight or build a bridge with that guy?
  5. Hey, what do you do when there's nothing worth watching? After Sports Night, the XFL, Felicity, Da Ali G Show, Arrested Development, and Moral Orel went off the air... What were they supposed to do to keep themselves entertained? I just hope, for the sake of Mrs. Travis Scott, that Archer stays on TV for a good long time.
  6. That... Um... That's quite an obscure movie reference you've got there. I'd respond with a Bernie Mac quote from "Mr. 3000"... But, like the rest of the universe- I've never watched it.
  7. I don't think he's talking about Walton going off scholarship or not counting towards scholarships... I think what he's saying is, if Walton couldn't play this year and received a medical hardship waiver, he could play for us in 2013-14. Instead of replacing him (opening his scholarship) after this season, we would have that scholarship available for a new recruit in the 2014 class. One less incoming recruit for 2013, deferred until 2014. EDIT: because this may still be unclear. I think when he said 'reduce our scholarships by one this year', he meant scholarships available to give to new players. Not how many players would currently be on scholarship.
  8. Reading up on the Harkless/Hicks situation at St. John's last year... It is not unprecedented for a player to get cleared to play even if a school hires someone associated with the player's AAU program as a Not-Coach. http://espn.go.com/n...red-storm-11-12 http://thehoopdoctor...eared-for-2011/ Despite how the rule is written, as long as the potential IAWP didn't "coach" them, then everything is hunky dory. Possibly for teams outside the Big East, too. So, hooray! As long as someone not-coaching at North Texas also was a recruit's not-coach at the high school or AAU level, we should be fine. Early signing is 2 days away, and we have one less potential time bomb to fret over.
  9. The record under that scenario would be 26-6. The first game SBC tournament loss would come to either the 8th or 9th seed. Best (?) case, the losses would come against Kansas State, St. Louis, Lehigh, and a top seed that was upset in PNIT round one and hosted a consolation pod (either Michigan, Virginia, or Pittsburgh). If none of the top seeds got upset, the "best" 4th OOC loss we could expect would be Lehigh again (the 5th seed in the PNIT pool). Even if that happens, there would be almost zero possibility of an at-large NCAA bid. Last year, Middle Tennessee was knocked out by 9th seed Arkansas State in their first SBC tournament game. Their record? 25-6. 3 OOC losses: 27 win NCAA qualifier Belmont, Vanderbilt (wound up a 5 seed in the NCAAs), and a .500 team in UAB. Conference record of 14-2, with the losses coming at Denver (a top 100 RPI team) and at Western Kentucky in the regular season finale (and, as we all painfully recall... WKU made the NCAA tournament last year). After the one-and-done in Hot Springs, Middle Tennessee was not a serious consideration for an at-large bid, even with an RPI of 56. We wouldn't be, either. A team in our league can't lose 5 regular season games and hope for an at-large unless we make the tournament semifinals, at least. Probably the finals, and even that is no guarantee... Ask Drexel, which went 27-6... With that 6th loss coming in the Colonial tournament final against VCU, after a last second 3 pointer didn't fall. Drexel lost 3 OOC games (none after the month of November, all to 20+ win teams), and still didn't get the at-large bid. At large bids are hard. And rare. EDIT to add: Oral Roberts last year is another good example. 17-1 conference record in the Summit Conference. 4 OOC losses: At West Virginia, at Oklahoma, at Gonzaga... and by one point to UTSA in the 2011 Preseason NIT. They missed 3 of 4 free throws in the final 30 seconds, and UTSA hit a running 3 pointer as time expired to beat them by one point. Their one conference loss was at South Dakota State (27 wins, RPI of 42). They split the season with SDSU, beating them by 22 at home a few weeks earlier. Oral Roberts finished 27-6 after losing by one point in the Summit tournament semifinals. Final RPI of 48. Anyone here shed any tears or light any candles when they didn't get an at-large bid?
  10. Whenever anyone else enjoys something and I don't think they should enjoy it that much.
  11. Cougar-riffic as she may be... I just hope that Lady Liberty never sinks so low as to go Afghanistan-to-mouth.
  12. Maybe there wasn't a large enough occupation force to resolve the conflict? DVDA?
  13. C'mon, KRAM... Look at that picture again! That forehead... Those crazy eyes... The sinewy, linebacker shoulders... Petraeus is only a man, KRAM. And a man can only resist so much before inevitably surrendering to the troop surge in his pants.
  14. I was just about to ask why you didn't ask me if we had an extra... Now I see I missed a call from you. We've got you covered. I'll call or text you in the morning.
  15. If there's a sex tape, I bet foreplay consists of a crisp salute and a stern, dry kiss on the cheek.
  16. http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-january-25-2012/paula-broadwell So much ironic comedy gold in that interview... If you love 20/20 hindsight on sexual innuendo, enjoy.
  17. Historical spoiler alert: Everyone did. Other than UConn, Wichita State, Oregon, and Santa Clara.
  18. Oh, that team that started 13-2 with two wins over BCS teams, despite entering the year with only 9 available scholarship athletes? The one that, despite even MORE injuries, managed to get on a clutch end-of-season run with only 8 players (and 4 of them playing through significant injuries), and made it to within 5 seconds of the NCAA tournament? That same Josh White team that featured Josh White suffering through a leg injury so significant that he spent his downtime wearing a boot, missing games, and barely practicing? Where our other point guard had a tendon injury in his left middle finger that basically forced him to play one handed? That one? That crippled, short handed team that still played 4 games in 4 days, won 3 straight SBC tournament elimination games by 14, 14, and 19 points? When we blew out the FAU team that won the league by 2 games and was expected to cruise to the championship? The team that fought through tournament final officiating so terrible that my wife, who spends most of her time at NT sporting events focused on getting me to go buy her a soft pretzel, can still recognize and identify all 3 referees by name almost 2 years later? The one where UALR only beat us through a series of godawful calamities, non-calls, a no-whistle on a "screen" that would have merited an ejection in an NHL game, and a highlight reel final shot that made Solomon Bozeman a Trojans legend for the rest of his life? I always thought they were a freaking triumph of a team that just happened to end up 5 seconds short, a heartbreaking example of how sometimes life makes you the Other Team in someone else's "Hoosiers" story.
  19. Carmouche wound up with Johnny at LSU. Led the Tigers in scoring tonight with 16 points in their opening game win over UC-Santa Barbara.
  20. I was just going to tell him to wear those socks on his feet instead.
  21. Some day, people will learn. Less talk, more feet pics.
  22. Patton! Hardwick! Walton! Patton! 7! Holmen! Patton! 7! Hardwick!
