So what is up with Basketball?
TheTastyGreek replied to North Texas Shep's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Serious face: There's a forum devoted to what I do. 200 people browsing it right now. There's a subforum specifically dedicated to my specific output. People there don't know me by name, but they can gather and complain about how much my work sucks or how worthless and terrible the stuff my boss and I put out is. I make it a point never to visit or read it. -
So what is up with Basketball?
TheTastyGreek replied to North Texas Shep's topic in Mean Green Basketball
North Texas basketball feels like paying to watch Joe Francis punch my mother in the stomach. And then going back to watch him do it again 31 more times. Something I love is being hurt, for no good reason. The choices are to keep watching this horrible thing happen, or to turn my back on something I love. I can see it happening, I know it won't end, and there's nothing I can do to stop it. NOTE: If the department wants to use any of this for next season's marketing or season tickets sales pitch, feel free. -

Southern Miss looking for new athletic director (RV?)
TheTastyGreek replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
If there's one painful lesson North Texas fans have been taught repeatedly over the past decade... It's that a replacement is no guarantee of an improvement, no matter how dim your view of the incumbent. Dickey had precious few supporters at the end of his tenure, but it turned out that even matching what he'd done wasn't so easy. Slinker didn't get many parades, either... But how about that Shanice, instead? 5 years after Tina got ousted, 3 replacements later, we still haven't cracked .500. Even Johnny had a group eager for his departure. But that hasn't worked out so well for North Texas, either. Rick V has his critics, and there are definitely grounds for criticism. But whenever he does finally leave, this department is going to be in a much, MUCH better place than it was when he arrived. The knock is usually that "anybody could have done _______". But for over 100 years of NT sports, not many other-bodys have. I'm not saying AD tenure, or never demand more... But recent history shows that just matching competence doesn't always work out for us. I won't argue we could never do better... But I know we could do MUCH worse. -

It's no Mexia. Or Connecticut. They got an Ikea up there, though. So, it's Swede-friendly. -

Benford Ball is like playing Scrabble against a guy who wipes with his bare hand. You can never be sure what your options are going to be... But you can bet that everything is coming out shitty.

Did you not hear about the extra football games on tv?
-
Even after some of them started leaving, he said no on ELSE was leaving, and that wasn't accurate, either. That's why I haven't broken out my party hats and noisemakers over the announcement that all our basketball players are in good academic standing and already locked in eligible for next season.

Xbox One = bad NT03 = Dateline viewer CMJ's brother = loved "Castlevania" You = engaged to marry Elana Delle Donna Dan Harmon = returning to "Community" 97 and 03's dad = sadly, died of brain cancer Oh, you meant Coach Peterson's Big News? Well, if you're going over to his place (own or rent???) for a 4th of July barbecue, and he tells you the food will be ready "soon"? You're going to starve to death.

Maybe the news was a metaphor, and it was actually inside of us all along?

Maybe if we throw him a few bucks, he'd announce our Big Secret Soon News.

I forget the figures AAUNT posted in the last State of GMG thread, but there are a lot of people who browse primarily or exclusively on mobile devices. So I wouldn't be surprised if your post is the first time a lot of people see that.

We've come a long way since Abbe's suspension.

Cheers to your illiterate, maladjusted, semi-feral manchild of a brother. Should have kept him away from the insidious demon influence of videoed gaming.

I-5 bridge collapses.
TheTastyGreek replied to GreenBat's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I just feel more comfortable that way. Nobody gets to pressure me to rust-proof my little bridges. That stuff causes autism. -
