Timmy Mac, Quoner will be over shortly with a gas can and a blowtorch.

Always standing by and available to answer ticket questions (spoiler alert: the answer is always "buy now" or "buy more") or to offer candy and romantic van rides to your pre-teen daughters. Ninja-face.

Brett Vito Football mag comes out tomorrow, et cetera
TheTastyGreek replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I just assumed: 1) Part of it already had 2) We put a Sarlacc in it 3) That's where we've been throwing out-of-favor scholarship players and excess coaches 4) Tony Benford spent most of the summer cackling on his pleasure barge, accompanied by a gold bikini-clad RV chained at the neck- 6 replies

A UT Fan's Perspective On Upcoming UNT Game

Should be easy for you to find the right house. I plan on having his wife and children up in gibbets on the front lawn by the afternoon. -
Who was the best Juco transfer QB to play at UNT?
TheTastyGreek replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
This is easy... SENECA WALLACE. I'll never forget the 5,000 threads about him during what I can only assume was his playing career here. Did we ever settle on who would carry on his proud tradition? -
Remind me again why we love the Dodges so much
TheTastyGreek replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Football
Good for Riley. I'm glad he managed to type out 35-odd characters without vomiting or breaking a finger. -
Since I enrolled in the late 90s, we've never been better at football than we appear to be right now. And I've never felt more disengaged and passionless about NT sports. Sat through Dodge, defended and still defend Dickey. Showed up with a smile for games when I knew our performance would be comically inept. Now, we are decent with promise, and I don't know if I'll be able to make it to half the home games. Not so much a hot opinion, as a hot and confusing disposition.

UNT’s helmet for the 2014 season finalized
TheTastyGreek replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
With the helmet change, nobody in the stadium will have any idea why we're chanting "North... Texas" anymore. I just assumed it would naturally change to "Eagle! Logo!" instead.- 126 replies

Worst case, you already have a chicken bucket handy that you can put over their heads. Also, +1 for MG93-98.

UNT QB Derek Thompson is named Plantiff in new NCAA lawsuit?
TheTastyGreek replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Yup. Last year was great, but I never rooted harder for DT to win anything than I will for him to be one of the guys like Ed O'Bannon who winds up bringing this terrible system to a legal end.- 72 replies

No, I don't mean that he was out for the entire season with that injury... I wrote that out poorly. What I meant was that the season where he missed time with that injury was the one we lost at home to UTA because of no replay, and I thought that was the 07 season.
-
I think that was actually 06/07, because it was the game where Kendrick Davis punched out the glass, and I'm pretty sure he was out with that injury the season we made the tournament under Johnny the first time (2007).
-
That's because they didn't. 3-2 in favor of UTA from 2007/08 - 2011/12 seasons.

SMU beer, wine sales total $350K at campus basketball games

We're already busy with a composting experiment there. Why not add some fermenting? -
Four-star Duncanville SG Matt McQuaid decommits from SMU

One more way of illustrating... Most people would probably rank how they want our basketball program to function like this: 1) Win the "right" way 2) Lose the "right" way 3) Win the "wrong" way 4) Lose the "wrong" way If your moral compass is a bit smudged or you have a very flexible definition of "right" and "wrong" in an athletics context, you can probably deal with this: 1) Win the "right" way 2) Win the "wrong" way 3) Lose the "right" way 4) Lose the "wrong" way Whichever way you swing on the matter, we're in the worst situation on either chart now. We torture or break NCAA regulations, we kick (or VERY STRONGLY PUSH) kids out of their education, and we still lose. Badly and frequently. -

TheTastyGreek replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I didn't make the statement, but expanding from my own perspective... If we want to win "the right way", keeping Benford is laughably tragic. And if we want a guy who makes a priority of athletes graduating, then we probably don't want the coach who turned off, scared off, or ran off: (big inhale) Norris, Overlander, Hardwick, Coleman, Jones, Gaines... And if you want to throw Forrest Robinson (I don't put that on Benford) and potentially a Mystery Player X still to come (that I also wouldn't blame on Benford)... The track record ain't great, especially after just two years. Pile on the recruitment scholarship musical chairs, and I don't think it's accurate to say that Benford's main priority is player retention and graduation. Anything you can say about Brown at SMU (Samarrippas, whoever else), you can say louder and more frequently about Benford here. So, not speaking for Jim here, but... To say anything negative of the sort about Larry Brown as a way of trying to prop up our own coach on a morality pedestal, when Benford seems to treat players and their scholarships like Solo cups at a picnic or wet-naps after a barbecue dinner... It's pretty dumb.
