  1. 8 OOC teams Iona and Creighton were top 65 RPI last year. Prairie View A&M, Delaware State, and Mississippi Valley State were 322 or worse. Arkansas Monticello is D-2, Langston is NAIA. (Langston Alger is Lisa Simpson's secret crush) Nicholls State was 266. Sub-.500 Southland team. That's your 3rd best OOC home opponent in terms of 2013-14 RPI. Not saying that's good, bad, or in between. But the "two 65 or better RPI home games" may not apply to some conference mates... Because they host Penn State and South Carolina (Marshall), or LSU and South Florida (UAB), or VCU and Richmond (ODU).
  2. Coach Mac did say he wanted athletes that were hungry and tenacious...
  3. I attended 24 or more games in multiple seasons in recent years. I'm expecting to make it to maybe 3 or 4 this year. And, honestly, I may not even bother to make it to that many. It's going to come down to: Is it a weekend? Are MeanMag and/or NT03 interested in going? Do I have literally ANYTHING else I'd like to do with the afternoon? Because if we're not serious about this sport, I refuse to let it make me so frustrated, embarrassed, or angry. No disrespect to some of the miserable, self-and-everything-else-loathing bastards that populate a significant subcategory of our fan base, but I'm not going to spend the next 20-30 years getting my blood pressure up to dangerous levels and being furious about how we can't or won't run a real, respectable program. I don't need to see us win to enjoy myself following NT sports (hello, decade of football!), but I refuse to keep putting up with what we've done to the basketball program and the absolute horseshit nonsense the leadership puts out there because they can't or won't do what our peer institutions and conference mates (WKU, UAB, ODU, Charlotte, and more) have done when they were in situations more positive and favorable than what we've done to ourselves. There are better ways to spend my time, and that's what I'm going to do. Anyone who's still interested, good for you. At least four FANTASTIC seats are going to be available that I thought would never be back on the market during my lifetime. Enjoy a front row seat, because I won't need it any more. COMPLETELY RELATED NOTE: The last two times we played SMU, I bought a total of over 50 tickets between the two games, most of which I gave out to people for free to get them out to the games. Several people on this forum met me for the first time prior to the SMU hosted game, because I had two dozen people over to my house for a pre-party. Read the old TY Sports articles, and you'll see how much I used to care about the prospect of seeing us play SMU. This year, I let my wife book the first September - March vacation we've ever taken together that wasn't cross-checked against the NT sports schedules. Sure enough, the best weekend for us to travel wound up being this weekend. And I don't even really care that I'm missing the game. The only reason I have football tickets this year is because my wife got very upset at the prospect of potentially losing touch with all the people we tailgate with. I don't want to see this program or these athletes fail. For them, I hope they win every damn game and take home a national championship. But I also don't want to see it any more, because of what we've done to this program. It's heartbreaking, and disgusting. Once upon a time, I scheduled my career and even my wedding around North Texas basketball. This year, I expect I'll be able to count games attended on one hand. Now that I think about it, I may just pick one game. That way, if anyone asks me how the team is looking (the standard casual 'hello' question from extended family and co-workers/acquaintances for the past 8 years), I can hold up my hand and show them by extending a finger for each ticket I buy in 2014-15. Benford'd.
  4. Andrew Luck is a future clipboard holder in the NFL, shaping up to be a Ryan Leaf type pick. Brandon Weeden was no different and arguably a better prospect than either RG3 or Luck, and Trent Richardson was the clearest slam dunk pick in the 2012 NFL draft. (I still think you're pretty swell, Carnac)
  5. Helpful hint (credit to UNTFlyer): Spend the extra money and get a steel frame. They are more expensive, and heavy as shit (mine is a 10x20, and not pleasant to throw in the back of an SUV by myself), but the extra money is well worth it. If you buy an aluminum frame tent, you're basically just renting it through the second or third day of heavy wind, if you're lucky. We went through 3 aluminum tents in 4 years. Got the steel tent at Flyer's suggestion; still in perfect shape 3 years later. Life cycle cost... Steel tent wins easily.
  6. "...and then, after the fifth time you do the 'Knock knock/Who's there', you say: 'ORANGE you glad I'm not Brett Shipp??"
  7. Lowercase g.
  8. Holy calamity! What year did you graduate?
  9. Anyone who thinks our athletics program hasn't been doing everything and anything possible to promote this game OBVIOUSLY hasn't been in the GMG chat room for the past month. Also, if our hopes of a sellout are dead now, all I have to say is: BIH, P.
  10. I think if our QBs were actually responsible for throwing the game tonight, they wouldn't have been so successful.
  11. No disrespect to your new friend, but cruel experience has taught me to be skeptical about anything a high school coach and UT grad thinks about the North Texas offense.
  12. And he would have gotten away with it, too... If it weren't for you meddling kids!!!!
  13. I hope the NTU quarterbacks and receivers had a better night than our guys.
  14. I'm going to be honest... It smells a lot like an unwashed Eddie Delgado in there right now. But, we're going to air it out overnight, spray some Febreeze, and hopefully get some scented candles going for a while. I expect it will be ready for guests by tomorrow, as long as we keep the windows open. And by week three, we should be back at 100%.
  15. I was shocked I had to make it myself. Can't believe no one has something like that posted on the internet already.
  16. Sadly, my foresight was removed shortly after birth. Because of the circumspection my parents chose for me, I seldom make bold, uncertain statements about the future.
  17. Are we going back in time to scatter Unicorn feed? Because I'm sick and tired of them not coming to my backyard so I can kill them from the comfort of my own home.
  18. EVERYONE KNOWS that the best and most effective way to hunt and kill a unicorn is with a high powered rifle. I don't care how accurate you are, bow hunting is just an insane and worthless strategy. Until we change our whole philosophy on hunting, we're never going to be able to fill our freezer with sweet, sweet unicorn meat.
  19. I prefer the simple, clean, classic and elegant look.
  20. Disagree. Win, and daughter learns that girls shouldn't have to worry about doing math. Lose, and she's learning that it's her responsibility to make sandwiches on demand. Way to reinforce gender stereotypes, Mad Hatter.
  21. Hell yes. HELL YES. Very well put. A picture is worth 1,000 words. You can't argue with a 9 win season, a bowl trophy, and a sweet sense of fashion. (NOTE: I don't necessarily disagree, I just love comedy.)
  22. Harry says to forget about C Vo, and that he's sure I'm going to love his new friend Uncle Jake if I just give him a chance.
