This is phenomenal. This is really, really fantastic. As Greenminer already dug up... If we'd come out of the AD search with this guy running our operation, I'd have been THRILLED. To bring in a guy like Baker, AND end up with Mosley here, too? This is great. We have an AD with a future so bright I doubt he'll last more than 5 years here. And now we have a guy arguably as talented and capable, training on the job, ready to take over as soon as success leads Baker elsewhere. And, both of these guys can hire basketball coaches.

I am. Assuming he doesn't get poached, we're golden at the AD position for probably the next 10 years.

See, I loved the Argo, and I later saw two shows at Rubber Gloves before writing it off as a "meh" and never going back. I think the lesson here is that things were awesome when I was younger, anything before then was irrelevant or absurd, and everything that's come after is relatively stupid and/or insignificant.

I wish Baker's second sentence after "thanks for hiring me" would have been that Tony Benford was getting fired. Out of a cannon. But, I realize that's not realistic. I still like Baker, and today is the most optimistic I've felt about our future in a long time. I currently have zero season tickets to zero sports. On the day Benford is fired*, I'm buying a pair of basketball tickets. Not even waiting to see who we hire... Once that ugly chapter of our history is finally over, I'm buying tickets again. And, odds are, the joy and optimism of that basketball change will probably get me to buy a pair of football tickets next year, too. It'll happen, it'll happen within 7 and a half months. Rick gone, Monarch gone, Benford going, and then it's a whole new world in Denton. Can't wait to see you guys at the Pit again.

I just picture Capper and Nitardy grabbing some UNT battle flags and broomsticks, tying them into hobo bindles, and hopping a freight train to adventure as soon as the Wren Baker press conference is announced.

Well, now we know what the going rate is for guys to oversee and listen to a group of our fans air their grievances, and to maybe throw out some ideas about how to manage their complaints and keep them, if not happy, then pacified enough to avoid outright revolt. Harry, I'll talk to @Cerebus, @KingDL1, @All About UNT and @Evan, and let you know how we all prefer to collect our $10,000 apiece.

I've been reading almost nothing on the Pie forum lately, so I'm not sure exactly what's going on here. Is this historically significant fun? Crafty, unrecognizable protest/subversion of my authoritarian regime? Are we all friends here? Is there an ongoing dispute I'm not aware of? I demand answers, or it's floggings and the stocks for all parties involved. Don't make me add a new rule about exposing and exploiting the ignorance and confusion of the admin team.

I doubt I'm gone for good. This personal UNT malaise has happened to coincide with a big year for me. Family-wise, and professionally, neither of which I really want to elaborate on in any great detail. Suffice it to say, as much as things suck right now for NT sports, they're going well on a personal level. Work-wise, my biggest distraction finally clears my plate around the holidays. So, right about the time that we may be forced to admit another year of basketball failure, I should be more available to rework that coaching recruiting forum.
